  1. Do you need to send proof of onward flights for a triple at this consulate and pretty much all UK consulates now ?

Before, you could post to Hull and get a triple but I think that was stopped ?

No need for tickets. No visa by post except from London.

I think Hull will accept postal applications form people in their catchment area but the visa has to be collected.

They will also accept applications via email so if he qualifies he could email everything to Hull first and they will confirm eligibility for the visa wanted.

Suggest you check the Hull website which includes this statement .

"PERSONS WISHING TO APPLY FOR THEIR VISA BY POST MUST SEND THEIR FULL APPLICATION TO THE ROYAL THAI EMBASSY IN LONDON.

SUCH APPLICANTS SHOULD VISIT THE EMBASSY WEBSITE (www.thaiembassyuk.org.uk) OR TELEPHONE THEM (020 7225 5500 AFTER 2PM MONDAY TO FRIDAY)."

  2. I have not seen a successful report of a person being able to change the reason for an extension based upon education to retirement in a long time. Immigration has been refusing to do them.

Your best choice will be to go out for a single entry non-o visa in Vientiane. You will just need you passport and a bank book showing 800k baht in the account (60 days not needed) or proof of 65K baht income or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht.

OK. While it is not the news I was wanting to hear, It's better to hear it sooner than later. I guess I should get to work on getting some kind of criminal record report from back in the US. Income letter from US Embassy is in hand.

Damn, I thought I had done my last trip to Vientiane already.

A criminal record report is not a requirement for obtaining a single entry Non O visa from Vientiene

  3. If you have a multiple entry non-b visa issued by an embassy or consulate it will remain valid for entry until it expires. You can use it for entry as many times as you want to until the enter before date on your visa.

No need to report your address to Phuket immigration.

Unless you LEAVE Thailand BEFORE a 90 day report is due ( then come back and fill out a new TM6 - it has your ENTRY date stamped on it --->> make sure the UNTIL date is correct or blank), you MUST report your address EVERY 90 days.

A multi entry "B" visa only provides 90 day entries. An address report is never required whilst using such visa.

  4. There is no new regulation it is just a local policy for the witnesses and home visit.

If your income letter was enough for retirement perhaps they were telling you about some rules to push you to get it

The very first thing she said was had we brought witnesses, last year we were told witnesses were only required for the first application. There was no home visits last year.

The second thing she did was hand back all the photographs and told my wife how they would be done. It was not until my wife explained what had changed that I then suggested a retirement extension.

It may not be a national thing but Sri Ratcha has altered the office layout, introduced more staff and changed the requirements on the marriage extension.

When I went to do my second year they wanted to have the owner if the house present and they wanted to do an unscheduled visit to my home and stated they would also interview my neighbors..

They also required almost all documents and photos to be stamped at the city hall office.

Did you comply with all the "requirements" and receive the extension ............Or ?

  5. Last year, I moved to Chonburi. Passport expired and retirement visa was issued in Phuket. I had to travel to Phuket for the transfer of the retirement visa to the new passport.

That is interesting because Phuket immigration do not issue "Retirement Visas".

Didn't they used to do conversions to 90 day O visas as part of the two step process for those who would qualify for the second step ... the retirement extension?

I have such a "conversion" issued by Phuket immigration, some years ago, in my passport !

It is not a "Retirement Visa"

I have now been in Thailand for a number of years but have never succeeded in obtaining one of these mystical "retirement visas"! smile.png
