  1. I live in Kalasin Thailand. I have a notary here sign the income affidavit, 500 Baht. I post this with the 1,500 Baht fee to the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok, with a copy of the funds going into an account. It saves me a trip to the big city, to extend my Non O yearly.

That might work for the Canadian embassy but not the US embassy.

The embassy still puts their stamp on it or it would not be accepted by immigration.

Has the US Embassy or immigration changed in terms of what the do/accept? Used to be able to go into the US Embassy, fill out a form and they would sign and stamp it.

The US Embassy/Consulate will still provide an affidavit nothing has changed.

The Thai immigration service has always had the right to ask for evidence which can/will support the income claimed in an affidavit.

  2. Forgive me but I have a really dumb question. :-(

I recently had the Tourist Visa - Non Imm O - extension based on retirement conversion plus have the multi-exit stamp.

As I have never used a multi-exit before, do I need to do anything special when leaving at the airport (like inform the Immigration officer etc?)

Also, when I return and fill in the TM7 card on the plane, do I write down the Non Imm O visa number or the number that is on my extension of stay stamp?

It is the TM6 which is completed.

If using a re-entry permit the number on the permit should be used when filling out the TM6 CARD.

  3. Cheers guys for the replies.

Got a cousin in Singapore who haven't seen in ages plus it would be crazy to be that on the other side of the world and not pop in to see him in Singa.

I thought I was nailing two birds with one stone ^^. Plus saved the £40 for visa.

But good news by the sounds of it! Thanks

Single entry Thai tourist visa costs £25 !

  4. It would be very easy to obtain a Tourist visa in the UK which would allow a 60 day stay which can be extended in country for a further 30 days at cost of 1900 Bht.

30 day visa exempt entries can also be extended in country at an immigration office for 1900 Bht.

If you fly to Singapore nothing will be "extended" but you will receive a new visa exempt entry on returning to Thailand.

  5. BKKstan

Is this fact, fiction or just old fashioned rumour ?

    Can you post the notice

    This is no fiction.

This is the new reality, unfortunately!

I was already reporting this new regulation about 2 months ago on Thai Visa WPFflags.gif

Could you post a link to this "new regulation "

As far as I can understand now, this is an internal Order for Nongkhai Immigration Office only.

    It is not published anywhere.

However if you come and ask, they may be able to show you this Order.

Sounds as if there is no "new regulation"

If people using this office really are being disadvantage by some local rule there should be some complaints lodged using the 111 number.

  6. Bye Bye Thailand. This is the straw that breaks my back. I will do my retirement extension next month for the 5th and last time.

I will move to a country that actually likes expats. This one obviously does not. coffee1.gif What a bunch of idiots. Killing the geese that lay the golden eggs. bah.gifbah.gif

    Bye TS .

    A couple of questions f I may......

    1. Why bother with the extension ?

    2. Which country has more to offer and what is the cost ?

    1. Because I've been here 5 years and need time to get rid of accumulated stuff. I'm in no rush to leave. Just won't put up with the new income rules. Dealing with Thai banks is dicey enough now.

    2. I need to do the research. I know that Mexico has very favorable climate for retired expats, but don't know the costs.

I may just go back to America. I really love the Bay Area. coffee1.gif

    Mexico ?

That would be a nice peaceful country to retire in thumbsup.gif
