Well, I do not believe that and my opinion is based upon almost 50 years of living in Asia and ten years living in Thailand. For example, I live in a non-tourist area and enjoy cheaper prices on almost everything I have also purchased in tourist areas--e.g., Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Samui, Chiang Mai. My house is a three-story row house with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, backyard, carport and rooftop deck in a very nice in-town neighborhood; my rent just went up to B8k/mo. Meals in restaurants; local or Western, are cheaper than in the places above, I can buy a Jack Daniels and Soda--my drink of choice--for B60 in Hatyai, and its at least double that price in tourist areas mentioned above. I ride motorcycles and often get irritations in the eyes, the eye drops I prefer cost B30 where I live and the same eye drops in Phuket just a few months ago cost me B120. My wife is the shopper of the family or I could give you more specific examples, but she has often mentioned how high prices are in the tourist areas.
I would suggest you buy some goggles to wear when riding.

There is no way to avoid paying felang prices .
There are felang shops and there areThai shops and felangs are not allowed into Thai shops .
7/11's are felang shops and 7/12's are Thai shops
Felangs are not allowed into 7/12 shops, they dont even tell us where they are, they are hidden in the back streets .
There is no point in asking your Thai partner to go into these 7/12s to buy goods at HALF-PRICE of 7/11's because they are part of the conspiracy to make us pay more for everything
Gee learn something every day. I have been to Thailand many many times for 2-3 months at a time and never heard of 7/12 stores. My Thai wife was not aware of them either. They must be a new thing prior to 2011? I have seen admittance fees into beaches, zoos, and parks with Thai and Ferang prices.

I would have thought that Australia gave some protection against constantly putting up the rent, but I suppose it is what the contract allows.
This behaviour is a common small-business killer in resort areas. I have seen a number of young enthusiastic couples take over a shop, redecorate and start making a successful business. Next season closed due to the rent doubling or more.
I find it a bit sad.
Sad is not the word for it. My son and his wife, her sister and her husband put all they had into it they tried for 2 + years the shock came when they tried to sell the lease. As soon as they sent a prospective buyer to the Landlord that was the end of the buyers interest. They at my advice arranged for the owner to suffer some bad luck and that's the way they was able to get out of the lease.

hah, i have no idear mate . i only bourght my own company with my g/f to support my own visa and work permit ,to enable me to run the restaurant i bourght 3 years ago . am on my 3rd workpermit now . so yeah , i dont know much .
tell me , what do you do ?
Restaurants are the hardest way to make a quid. My son had seafood restaurant in the heart of Sydney City Australia. Could not make money landlord kept upping the rent. Also anyone they found to take over the lease was discouraged by the landlord. So Lay a legal trap for the landlord and caught him in the act of discouraging me from taking over the lease. So my son and his Chef partner were able to walk away. Anyone will tell you long hours small return.

I hope you do not regret telling the world how much money you are bringing to Thailand. Word of advice, Shut your Gob. It is bad enough here when they only think your loaded. It can cause a lot of headache and heartache. Enjoy....

"Just recently I am fighting with my aussie bank as they won't let me take my money out and close my account without giving them an address"
Give them the address of your girlfriend.
Several years ago I lived in Sydney and had done for many years. Out of the blue my bank closed my account and sent me a letter saying they closed it due to inactivity. Well 2 days before that I had borrowed some money and it was sent to this bank. I created merry hell as it took me several weeks to get my hands on the borrowed money which I was paying interest on. I ended up writing to the Banking Industry Ombudsman. Within a few days the banks area manager came to my work to apologise and he gave me a magnum of champaign. I went for damages and the Ombudsman awarded me $400 for my inconvenience. Perhaps you should contact the Banking Industry Ombudsman in the state your bank is in Aussie.

I am not a doctor but this little trick http://besthealthyguide.com/ears-hearing-recovers-natural-remedy/
Just a couple of drops of garlic oil in olive oil in use a dropper and put 2-3 drops in each ear. I emphasise with you as my son has had this condition for over 14yrs. He went totally deaf after about 2 yrs but can still hear the ringing in his ears. You must seek treatment as the longer its left untreated the more likely you will lose your hearing forever. I have heard of people being cured but it seems if you seek treatment within a few days of it first occurring it is more likely to succede. Chok Dee

Solution 1: If you are home when you open your beer you drink it up before you go out, and don´t forget to put the empty bottle in an environment safe place. Don´t litter!
Solution 2: If you buy a beer in another bar, why just not drink it up before you finish and go to the next bar? Here you have the upper advantage and never have do deal with taking good and responsible care of the empty bottles.
Solution 3: If you by any chance don´t understand Solution 1 or Solution 2, please stop drink beer and happily continue with the domestic rice whiskey (Lao Khao)
Seriously! Why would you ask a question like this? Why would anybody want to walk around with a beer bottle drinking outside while walking the streets? He must be from Aussie. Walking on the streets with beer in hand is a common problem they are trying to stamp out.

So many Thai women have told me the same thing. Thai men are lazy and get the women to do the work.

Well its definitely not an Australian Trouser Snake. Looks like a Thai snake.

Danger is everywhere in Thailand. ie: Ladyboy's apartments. All condo balconies. Tuk Tuks, Motorcycle taxi's. It is best you treat everywhere as dangerous and never let your guard down. Just like many western countries.

Good for you. But also realize that his type LIVES for the moment that someone like yourself says anything the least bit critical about him so he can tear into you...
You should have given it back to him in an even louder voice, maybe he would have slinked away before the cops came as he wouldnt have a leg to stand on as I am sure its against the law in Thailand to go shirtless to any establishment.

" Dunno about you but I do not have any respect for women who partake in threesomes. "
Was this not what you said?
Yes but that's all I said. I never said all the rest of the crap you inferred or included.

Wasn't your original quote replying to a guy who did have a negative view on women partaking in sexual activity? Therefore, displaying that there still is some sort of imbalance of power in society. Unless, of course the original author of the comment has a disgust of all creatures great and small partaking in sexual activity involving more than two people. So as for my language, I believe your own set conclusions jumped the gun a little bit.
Believe what you like. I never said anything that could be remotely construed to mean what you said I mean. I dont take offence as English is clearly not your native tongue. If it is I suggest you go back to school.

So you're perpetuating the time-honoured double standard whereby a man receives a slap on the back for his "prowess" and a woman who enjoys having multiple partners is maligned and ostracised?
That attitude hails from the days when dinosaurs roamed the earth and is rooted in male insecurity.
Maybe we should go back to the days when they didn't have the vote, eh?
I did not say anything of the sort. I suggest you read things properly and not adjust the meanings to suit your own idea of the world.

BS
I've had relationships like the OP's describing and one or two of the giks have flirted with other guys in my presence but, frankly, I've been doing my own flirting with another woman a few feet away.
It's no biggie and, typically, we used to have a laugh about it afterwards in the cab home.
Women who partake in these types of relationships appreciate a man who has a mature attitude; eg not getting clingy or possessive but still showing her that he gives a shit.
This mature approach to open relationships has had its rewards on several occasions with my giks inviting women/girls I've been flirting with back to my condo after the club/bar has shut for an "after-party"
Dunno about you but I do not have any respect for women who partake in threesomes. Also how do you know its harmless if you cannot understand what they are talking about?

I doubt that. I know for sure it's illegal in the Philippines too. They had problems where people would pretend to take selfies with the target in the background and post the photos on the Internet. Computer crime/defamation is a big deal in Thailand.
The Philippines were the first country to introduce legislation to combat computer posting crimes. That has got nothing to do with taking pics or video in public.

and then expose the OP to the possible penalties of Computer Crimes Act?
He can post them from an internet cafe. And just make sure no one can work out the angle of the cams direction as to pin point his balcony. As for breaking the law unless Thailand has changed the law Dubai and the UAE and maybe Saudi are the only countries you cannot take pics or video in public of an unsuspecting target in the world. Common law is if its public its free to do.

You seemed to have hooked up to a no good type. Hooker or not she is acting like she is. Get rid of her like she is not the only loose woman in Thailand. Plenty more to pick from.

Take video of him in the raw then pull off some decent pics of his ass and nuts and post them online and get some printed out and pin them to the condo notice board and entrance doors.
How can newbies to Thailand avoid paying farang prices?

Maybe that's what you expect from your wife/G/F's but my wife was always proud to announce any bargain she was able to get. Plus it was always her money I never had any she supported me. So much different than the usual Thai money grabbers.
