Do NOT mention the sale price, let the land office state the appraised rate, which is what I've/we've done on every sale.  You can find this out ahead of time, or just look at your paperwork when you bought the house. as chances are, within 3 years it hasn't changed, or if so, very little.

This is 2018 info, and I think changed a bit since 2010, as I thought it was 10%, sliding scale down, 5 to 1 yr of ownership.   But apparently 3.3%, if that info is current.

Or negotiate the appraised rate at the land department

Be careful on quantities if you order from overseas and keep it to a maximum of 3 months supply. This is my experience of importing contact lenses from the U.K.

Back in 2020 my wife and I ordered 12 months supply each from the U.K. and had copies of our prescriptions enclosed to show they were for us.

Shipped by FedEx but held at customs in Bangkok. They insisted we go to get a letter signed by a hospital doctor before they would release them. So we had to go to the hospital in the middle of the covid pandemic and get our eyes tested. Crazy!

Customs eventually released our lenses and we had to collect them from our local post office and pay import tax - I think it was 40%.

We have subsequently used a supplier in Singapore and they said they keep orders down to 3 months to avoid any customs issues. That certainly worked for us on several deliveries.

But now our lenses are available in Thailand we always use Moon Optic.

I wear 1 Day Acuvue Oasys  for Astigmatism and order them from Moon Optic on Lazada. My wife orders Maxim soft 1 Day Multifocals (called Clarity in the U.K.).

Very reliable and responsive supplier. You may need to order a month in advance if you need lenses for astigmatism as they might have to get them in stock given the huge number of variations in prescriptions for astigmatism. They now keep a running supply for me so when I order they arrive in a few days.

UPS, FedEx and the like are always painful, and expensive, the few times I’ve used them for sending/freighting/importing pretty much anything

I’ve found using the local post/EMS then onto ThaiPost to be ideal for all my mail/items. Car parts, clothing, credit cards, contacts etc many many times FYI.

"Working with the Airport Interdiction Task Force (AITF) the authorities targeted incoming passengers from Ethiopia, a passing through point for drugs from South America."

So was this a 'tip off' or do they target all Ethiopian passengers?

    Hard to speculate I guess.

on a side note I had a shipment I delivered to the Bangkok port x-rayed and pulled apart for a drug search. The reason when asked, Thailand to Australia via shipping lanes is a known trafficking corridor. So maybe lucky random search as they’re under heightened suspicion as it’s, as stated a known corridor

Yes, I agree with you. This day an age almost everyone has an id, ATM, credit card, drivers license, insurance card. All with your name on it. What about where he was staying. Hotel, guest house ect.

I leave home with just my phone and bike key often. DLT app for my drivers license,  Apple wallet with 4 credit cards and 3 bank apps for prompt pay, QR paymentor cardless cash withdrawals.
I find carrying physical cards or cash can be problematic at times. Wallets are becoming obsolete for me

I hope some drunk idiot driver finds you some day 2 idiots - no foul right ?

I really hope it happens, you deserve it after that comment

how many people die because of drunk idiots driving in Thailand......

How many die not because of drunk idiots. I’m numb to it all and couldn’t care less to be perfectly honest.

And I’ve already been taken out once in my life by an incompetent driver, thanks though.

2 weeks ICU, 4 months total stay, 4 or so years of rehab and lifelong disabilities. Such is life

Yes, they called me, but like "we'll be at your place in 10 minutes". When I explained that I was out for lunch and shopping they asked when I was back home. I said "probably around 6pm", after which they ended the call.

A few minutes after that they called me again and asked if I really couldn't come home earlier. Since I wasn't far away and really didn't want any trouble with my non-Imm O application, I agreed to come back home so that they can check and take their photos etc.

So no idea what would have happened if I wasn't at home till the pick-up day for my visa...

Anyhow they were really polite, but it was just a really weird experience. They took photos of me like sometimes you see in the "suspect arrested" reports ????

My last marriage extension our ‘witness’ was running 15mins late on their arrival. I said sorry can you wait please. I was told “no, get someone to sign now or you don’t get an extension, up to you” Luckily a new neighbour was happy to be late for work and sign for us.

They don’t like to wait for anyone regardless of visa type it seems

    Thanks.

If I do it it would be a toyota straight 6 to replace a non toyota straight 6.

So. buy imprted toyota engine with its paperwork from BKK. Fit in the car, (tell insurance) and take the car to DLT, and it should be ok.

1.5JZ turbo manual to replace the RB20E non turbo auto. JZ the world ????

Engine and colour update shortly. I’ve spoken with my local guys and it seems to be a pretty straight forward process (famous last words)
