Presumably you'll be buying a replacement mattress so just ask the supplier to take/dispose of the old one when they deliver.   I tipped the Central Online delivery driver B200 to take the old one with him.

Thanks but No, i'm not buying a replacement yet as there will be some renovation going on and I'd like the old one to get out of the way now that i see it is useless

  2. New condo, I was thinking about getting this mattress cleaned but unfortunately after checking under the bedsheet i found out that it is good for the bin.

    image.jpeg.b667394fd712d2c66a9c5bbdcef615c9.jpeg

Anyone has the contact of a person / company who can get rid of this for me for a fee (I'm in nakluea).

Google search has not been successful so far.

No need to suggest that I wait for the council garbage collectors truck and ask them, involve condo staff in that matter or drag the mattress and leave it in the street. There must be a company that will take care of this in pattaya for few hundreds.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's odd how so many OPs ask questions here that can easily be answered by their just asking the people who are actually in the position to give a definitive, accurate answer!

You know that any question a bit tricky has a big risk to be replied by "Cannot" and then you can never go back to that same personn even if you prove her wrong.

    Thanks for your interest anyway

You've already had that confirmation from Kasikorn, surely?

A fund transfer from one Thai bank to another, within Thailand, does not constitute funds coming from abroad to your SCB account so how could SCB provide that certification?

Yeah, I wrote "can I still obtain the necessary confirmation form from kasikorn that the funds are coming from abroad".

To be more precise, I Should have said: If I use this money that will be deposited in the future with SCB to buy a condo, can KASIKORN provide any needed confirmation that the funds came one day to them from abroad before being transferred to SCB.

OR should I ask Kasikorn for this form before moving the money? In that case will it be valid with no limited date in the future for condo purchase?

I never bought a condo so the exact form of what they need as a proof of fund coming from abroad is unknown to me.

Hope it is more clear and that someone who have experienced this situation can answer.

  5. Good morning,

Over the last 2 years, I've transferred from europe around 1M baht to Kasikorn in a dozen of small transfers.

I want to move this money to an other Thai bank (SCB) to get a better interested rate. The account with SCB is already opened.

Just wondering, in case of i want to use this money one day to buy a condo, can I still obtain the necessary confirmation form from kasikorn that the funds are coming from abroad if i've moved all the money to SCB?

    Thanks

Actually my understanding with April is that there is no special provision for a hospital that has only private rooms. But it will depend on how the room charge appears on the bill.

When I was hospitalized last year it was at a hospital with only private rooms., I expressed my concern re insurance covering only semi private and was told "we don't classify rooms by private/semi - private. Your insurance  will be billed  for a 'Standard Room" and that will be OK. And it was. No guarantee same will hold true for you, or for me in the future -- this was at a hospital in Phnom Penh that is much more savvy about insurance billing than the hospitals in Thailand seem to be (they are surprisingly bad at it, even the top "international" ones). But that's how it went for me.

The next level up of April cover will pay for private room. I considered upgrading but after doing the math decided that even if I had to pay the excess on a private room it would still be less than the extra premium given that there was no other meaningful advantage to the next level of cover. .  They will pay up to 75 USD for a private room, just not the actual full cost (whereas semi private will be covered up to the total charge). It is aggravating, I agree

Hospital room charges are just that and not inclusive of any treatment costs. which is why looking at room charges will not give any idea of total ill.

There are 3 elements to room charge: the room itself, meals and nursing charge and this will be (or can be) split out on your bill. Only the room charge part is limited to 75 USD if a private room under April. They'll cover the meals and nursing.

Yes, the cover seems quite sufficient for me as well with the Essential fomula. It's just this detail with the room that is a bit annoying.

As almost everyone else i guess, if it's just a matter of paying few hundreds baht a day because there are no twin rooms, the hospital specify it's private in the bill and it's a bit more than 75$ i wouldn't worry too much. Just want to avoid any nasty surprise.

Pretty much all insurers require pre-approval for hospitalizations. In an emergency can inform them after arrival at the hospital but should be within 24 hours.

Also, for direct billing (payment of the hospital by the insurer, leaving you out of it except for any deductible - definitely the preferred arrangement) the hospital has to submit some paperwork (treatment plan,  estimated cost etc) to the insurer which then provides them with a "Guarantee of Payment" and most private hospitals  will not want to treat - at least not for anything costly - until they get the GOP. This process takes a few hours at least (and speediness may depend on the hospital at least as much as the insurer i.e. some are better than others at churning out the paperwork).

Should you be in a government hospital it will usually nto be possible to get a GOP and you'll have to pay and be reimbursed afterwards, not because of the insurer but because the hospitals don't have the capacity and staff to handle it and set up diorect billing. Possibly the really big ones in Bangkok differ in this regard, I don't know.

In my case the hospital took care of contacting the insurer. We got the go-ahead in about 4-6 hours (on a Sunday). As I needed immediate surgery the hospital gave me the option of making a deposit with my credit card  pending the insurance authorization or else delaying the surgery by several hours,  I chose the former (turned out to have been a wise move, medically) and when the insurance OK came through they tore up the credit card deposit.  For a planned hospitalization of course no problem.  In an emergency  the hospital might ask you to front a deposit to cover the initial costs pending the insurance OK especially if something costly like surgery is needed right away.

They don't have a 24/7 hotline to confirm you are insured?

What happen if you are not conscious and unable to make the deposit?

I am also in April International. I have just spoken to AA Brokers in Hua Hin to clarify the Terms and Conditions dates . They confirm that when new T and C's are issued [ latest are 2020[ the new T and C,s apply to ALL members in April irrespective of the year  they joined April.

Regarding the 'private rooms' situation, as there are so few Twin room  private hospitals in Thailand it has little practical effect. The 75$ would only apply if you were say in Bhumigrad [spelling[ in Bangkok which does have twin rooms then if you went to a private room that 75$ would come into play. Even then they will use the room price and not all the ancillaries that may take it to 8000 Baht. 75$ may mean you will have to maybe pay 700 Baht top up for instance..

"Regarding the 'private rooms' situation, as there are so few Twin room  private hospitals in Thailand it has little practical effect."

If no Twin available, you will get private room at no extra cost, even if > 75$. Is it written in the policy

"Even then they will use the room price and not all the ancillaries that may take it to 8000 Baht. "

So there is a standard price hospital use for room and any extra medical equipement (eg for pneumonia intensive care) is charged on an other part of the bill?

Have you tried Lifecare lab on 3rd road? they usually offer a STI test package for much less than 6k

I had a look on the website before.

    They do a PCR test

    BUT:

If i remember well it is for chlamydia only and they probably send the sample somewhere as it takes 10 days to get the results.

  10. Hi,

Sounds interesting that you can get Gono + Chlamydia urine NAAT/PCR test with result the same day for 5500 baht.

I am based in Pattaya and will check with BPH but it will probably be the same cost and not same day result.

Any feedback about testing at pulse Silom???

PS: before someone advise it, culture test which is available for much cheaper in small clinics is NOT and option as i don't have any discharge, just some discomfort in this area.

    Thanks

If I understand well what has just been added, going to any beach is now forbidden...

-Closure of all beaches in Chonburi. There is no exception for swimming, like was originally discussed. Total closure of the beach and beach activities.

  12. Good Morning, so I did the test with exercise stress test at BPH and nothing serious was found.

Stop smoking for a month now, reducing alcohol intake and adding vegetables to my diet (i almost eat none during the past year) has really helped to reduce the symptoms.

Was thinking about doing echo next but will probably leave it here for now.

Thanks, Will update here if anything new.

  13. Good Morning,

Since a last month, I have an unpleasant feeling in my chest and heart when i wake up in the morning or after an afternoon sleep.

Started to worry and I stopped smoking 10 days ago and alcohol since last week.

I feel better but the feeling is still here.

I'd like to do a heart check up.

The 9900 THB "Superior Heart Screening" from Bangkok Hospital in Bangkok looks good enough

    https://ww2.bangkokhospital.com/hearthospital/en/patient-support/packages-and-promotions/detail/18/heart-check-up-package-2019

To avoid travelling there from Pattaya does anyone knows if there are similar packages available in this price range from  the hospitals in the Pattaya area?

    Thanks

  14. Hi,

I have the same prepaid DTAC Sim since 2014/2015, not sure.

    I received this SMS :

    "เพื่อการใช้งานที่ดีขึ้น กรุณานำซิมเดิม+บัตรปชช.เปลี่ยนซิมใหม่เบอร์เดิมที่ร้านดีแทค ก่อนสิ้นเดือนนี้รับเน็ตฟรี10กิ๊กใช้ได้7วันค่ะ"

According to google trad it means: "For better usability Please bring the original SIM + NACC card. Change the new SIM to the original number at DTAC. Before the end of this month, get 10 free internet for 7 days."

Anyone know about that, how is it processed?

    Is it mandatory?

Any advantage getting a new sim?

Any disvadantage? I use promo package from resellers and i've read several time that they are not compatible with new sims.

    Thanks

Those who want to spend more time in Thailand are going to be put off by the complications and rigmarole involved when getting the necessary visa. They'll go elsewhere instead, some are already talking about how cheap and relaxed Vietnam is.

Yeah... but Vietnam is not Thailand.

I've heard long term expats retirees talking during hours about how bad Thailand has become and how good Cambodia, Philippines, Vietnam are..

But years after years they are still here...

Did he give the keys back then? How else would you be able to enter your condo?

He cannot take your keys or bike, and I would make a big issue out of it.

Regardless what other people think, if you show you know the law and resist, they'll back off.

You should have taken a picture of him and gone straight to the police station.

After all, you have 4 days time to show your DL if you forgot it, and the office at the desk might know the law better.

Let us know what happened afterwards pls.

    Cheers

Yeah, i tried to complain to several people at the police station but with no effect. So i paid the 400 THB fine + 60 THB of mototaxi and got the key back from him or his collegue.

So you say i should not have been fined if able to show my DL within 4 days? Any source? Could i go back to the station with the ticket and my DL and ask for refund?

That is a good prompter, if I get stopped I should put the keys in my pocket promptly. Once he has them, I am at a disadvantage. I was told they should no longer take your licence too. I would just like to know if I have any rights in such a situation.... I was wondering yesterday as I watched the locals riding about in cars without plates, on bikes without a helmet, 3 up etc, yet tourists are getting stopped. (It is collection season, but not Santas with a bucket!)

He took it while i was parking the bike and looking elsewhere. Disgusting behaviour really.

Too many times I have seen reported in various news outlets and on YouTube attacks on foreigners. They latest being mob violence against an American citizen with him being chased and struck several times. The police issue tickets of 500 baht and call it a misunderstanding. Since when is mob violence a misunderstanding? Yet I read today everyone is all up in arms over an American calling Thai people gooks, but Thais refer to white people as farang and have another word equally offensive that they call Indians and Arabs. I think foreigners of all nationalities are pretty sick and tired of the way they are treated not only the incidents I mentioned, but everything on the whole. Dual pricing, scams, signs reading "Thai's only". When it finally made international news that the Thai army was brought in to try to explain and teach  taxi drivers, tuk tuk drivers, and motorcycle drivers how to behave you have already lost a battle you will never recover from. God bless and thank you to the members of the Thai army that tried their best to help. I have many wonderful Thai friends here and they all agree that a lone few have painted a very dark picture of Thailand and no-one has stepped forward to protect those of us that are guests in this country. Even if you stop this one-sided attitude towards foreigners you probably will never fully recover from the damage you have caused.

The other day i forgot my DL. During a control the police officer took my motorbike and condo keys (same ring) and i was told to "TAKE A MOTOTAXI!" when i asked to give it back to me in order to go to the station and pay the fine. Then he walked away ignoring me.

Really felt i was treated like a piece of trash and i won't forget.
