Hello, I seem to have missed this, & hope it's true. I'm stuck in a SA country, not my cup of tea. Can I come back to Thailand now? Where can I read about the rules, etc.? Thank you.

My brother with asthma lives in Chiang Mai. The visa extension/proposal I read about is for people like him. He is 72 years old and has asthma; he is seeing a Thai dentist about dentures for replacing all his teeth. His asthma and age would seem to put him in the correct category to stay, because travel to any country would be hard on him. If he became infected with covid-19 he would become extremely ill, especially stranded. Now he is safe.
Please consider this as a valid question and reply if you have a link or answer from an authorized source. If you need more information, I am happy to provide it. Thanks.

However, beware of your own weakness of character. If, like me, you have excellent reasons for getting out & back into Asia, I'd advise not paying much attention to to speculation. People with a comfortable life can speculate, 'so sorry to say this, but...' Keep working like you're in training, so when a safe country finally opens, you can leave. Keep your eyes on the prize.

Thank you much to the folks who were kind & diplomatic. It's rough over here now. But to those who were smug & pedantic, put yourself in a Yank's place for a second.

Hi, I've seen rumors that Thailand will allow Western tourists in again. before fall. Any truth to this? Thank you.

Gosh. & I was so loyal to Thailand...
Thanks for the info!

a variation on the theme: I read today that Thailand would allow people from low-risk countries (as deemed so by the WHO) to enter Thailand in a bubble tourism scheme. I cannot find anything in WHO (or anywhere else) saying which countries are seen, by the WHO, as 'low-risk.' And since I'm in the US, my chances are -0 (is it possible that the US is seen by Thailand as 'low risk?')
Do you have a link to WHO low risk countries and do you have a link where Thailand says the us is low risk? (I'm desperate for good news.) Thank you.

Lol, let's close all this <deleted> and tank out economies just for the really old people who have lived life already.
Hey man, remember that insult when you're in your 70's, if you make it that long. Maybe what you're doing now isn't so significant .

Thanks very much for your help. I thought I'd missed some wonderful announcement. I'll keep checking here and at the CAAT site. BTW. I'm an ordinary Yank & I'll bring a tourist visa with me, any insurance & medical certs they need. I think Ubon Joe mentioned his opinion that autumn would see things back to normal. .

The CAAT page still says no flights in until June 30th. Has anyone heard any different? Please provide a link so I can study the situation to get back in. Thanks.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed & working as hard as I can ($).

Hello, things might be looking up. I've changed my ticket once, but I'll do it again. Hope this time it works. Any links? Thanks.

The airports shut the day after I paid for my ticket back! I'd already given notice on my flat so I'm lucky not to be homeless. Plus the US is so gawd awful infected. Hope I can get back into Th in June before I'm driven mad by rednecks in the heartland who do NOT believe in covid-19, social distancing, etc. It's the flu...right? Hard to believe that Thailand is worse.

My April 16 flight was cancelled w/ a refund for a new ticket. I understand Ap 30 is the earliest possible time I'd be allowed to fly in. If you have a link to more information I'd much appreciate this. Thank you.

Air travel in from US? Much appreciate no jeers, sneers, jokes, but any mention of letting a Yank in. Thanks.

Trump had a press conference not long ago and said something in it like
If you are an American either come back now or you're going to have to stay where you are for a very long time.
Something about no American going to be allowed out either.
I would Imagine each country will follow if or when this happens.
Lets hope I misread the message.
Kind of depressing since my flight was just cancelled (out). Would ask if you can recall the date this guy said that? Thanks.

You'd want to substantiate this claim.

This has the new restrictions for lesser places, countries with ongoing infections like the US. Also the worst offenders & the least, w/ Thais also being mentioned. Take a look...
I didn't see this last night & here it is at noon. I'd rather be in the tropics than surrounded by rednecks in the West etc etc etc
Any more ideas, places to flee, etc.? Thank you.

OMG. Tomorrow it'll be at stage 3 in Th'land... why didn't I just leave the states last month? I'm ticketed, no apt. now... Any ideas?

The article discusses the 3 types of country groups, w. the US in #2, or
ongoing local transmission areas:
France, Spain, the United States of America. Health insurance, medical cert.
This is straight from the govt. website. Pls give your own reference clearly; I'm sitting here in the states holding a ticket that is, or is not, worthless. I can't find anything like what you've described ('banned.) But if it's out there, I need to read about it & make plans.'Thank you.

These were normal Thais who live here & doing these dance like movements every single morning was part of their lives, so I think I'll have to go to the refrigerator store by the moat across from Starbuck's where I bought some tai chi chi gong dvd's & see if the owners know anything. Thank for writing.

https://ddc.moph.go.th/viralpneumonia/eng/index.php This does make sense after reading it 3-5 times. Scroll down then Look to the right side of the chart, with USA & UK at the bottom.

The local people called these groups 'exercise.' In Bangkok there were also other soft martial arts like qi gong in the parks, but in Chiang Mai I came to accept my 5 am class with Thais as part of my everyday life. They were in the wats, parks, by the moats...
But now I can't find a single one in Chiang Mai -- not even at CMU or at the exercise park. I don't speak Thai, which is a set back. Maybe you could tell me where one of these classes is? Thank you!
Which tourist visa can be changed to study visa?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

I'm flying into BKK for quarantine next week. I hope I'll be able to get a tourist visa from a Thai embassy here (I'm from the US, currently in Ecuador). When that expires, will I be able to change to a visa for studying Thai language or another govt.-approved subject? BTW. I'll be 72 in Jan.; I don't have enough money yet for a Thai retirement visa, though. Thank you.
