Almost all of Asia is closed for entries are closed for entries now.

This map from the IATA has info after clicking on country. https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/international-travel-document-news/1580226297.htm

You best option maybe be a refundable return ticket back to the US.

One option is might be a temporary ticket. See this site for example. https://onewayfly.com/?gclid=Cj0KCQiA5vb-BRCRARIsAJBKc6JLcI435OwYh5Q99o0tZyAjwZ_IVCE2v8zy-mW3MICZxHqZz7Qr6_UaAtqpEALw_wcB

Thanks very much! I'll get a temporary return to Ecuador. I won't touch the US right now.  Very contaminated, & generally out of control (IMO).  But I'll book EC today. Hope Thailand stays open after the local surge & lockdown.  Don't think I can leave much sooner than 3 wks. COE might take 10-14 days to process.

I'd just book it on bestonwardticket dot com without specifying the destination. Restrictions change all the time, so there's no point in looking them up now.

The first set of rules - which has stuck around - says that they won't accept an open or unspecified place ticket; it's not a big deal to just buy one to Nam.  And the stakes are very high (for me, at least). You lose thousands of dollars...hundreds if you really work at it.  And where would i go while i get yet another Thai deal together if they refuse me?   AND in March when the world stopped, i lost $600 on a ticket to Th.  All the time wasted, now living where I'm just passing through... Oh, no.  A cheap ticket will suit me fine.  Thanks for the link.  Best to you

    what is your plan?

do you intend to leave thailand after 60 days, or are you planning to convert to a non-O visa, and simply need a throwaway ticket as proof of onward travel?

If I may, I would like to make a suggestion.  The modification of flights seem to come with little penalty nowadays.  My round trip flight can be changed for a $50 fee through Eva Air.

I would recommend seeing if your present flight can be modified to be round trip with the return to be changed when and if you use it.

    Hope this fits.

Thank you. This is complicated, so ...  I, too, am flying Eva Air. However, there's still the problem of where to <say I'd> go? I'm in Ecuador now & flights that aren't in SE Asia are so expensive.  I wonder what Ubon Joe meant, 'they'll accept an onward ticket to anywhere?'  Wonder if I could make that Vietnam?  It 'could' be open in 60 days...

  5. Thank you for all your info. I think the Lima embassy will be fine. I hope so, because I've already got my ticket out of Ecuador.  They wrote asking if I get the 5 digit number.  There's no post office in EC so I'm stuck with a local COE & visa.  Re-reading the instructions again, they say clearly that if you don't have an item, you can add it later.  With the Indian visa we had to use IE. I wonder if Foxfire will work? (I use Opera.) I'll try Foxfire, then IE. I saw no buttons, got no code & unlike w/ the Indian visa, there's no email shop to go to for a stronger connection.

  6. 1. So the 30 day entry with extension is a sure thing?  (Some say it's not.)  I hope so. Getting a tourist visa w/out a postal system is unnerving.  2. After re-reading the instructions I think a person's supposed to have all the documents ready and then fill out the online forms.  I just assumed that like India's visa, this was possible but evidently it's not.  So opening a Thai COE that you worked on yesterday isn't possible...Sorry for being so dim.3.Re: visa box (status), the embassy in Peru just wrote that they added this to the online COE.

  7. I've entered almost all my documents and personal information and there's nowhere to save the files -- or I've overlooked this. As I gather information, I add it, with all the attachments. Now, for the 6th time, the file shut down.

I've written the Embassy 10 times and they ignore me. I don't have the choice of using an embassy in the US because there's no post office in Ecuador where I'm traveling.  Hope someone has advice. (a group of people using the online COE?) Thanks.

Online would only be the certificate of entry application. For the tourist visa application you to mail your passport and etc to them. Info is here: https://thaiconsulatela.org/en/tourist-visa/

When you do the online certificate of entry application the embassy will forward to the consulate for the state you enter unless you are within their jurisdiction. See: https://www.cognitoforms.com/RoyalThaiEmbassy1/onlineapplication

Visa exempt entries have been approved and should be shown on the embassy and consulate websites this coming week. That might work out good for you to go through the certificate of entry process from the embassy in Peru and start your trip from Ecuador since you would not need a visa.
