is really none of the hotels or apartments business after you arrive by air from Bangkok. Arriving in CM should be the only time you should need to show you went through quarantine.
Nonetheless, the city government demands a slew of information. The hotel for one night photocopied a lot of my covid docs & submitted them to immigration & gave me a form. When I moved in, the apt. was nicer, but still copied all my forms, then gave me one to give to immigration.

I know I have to take my COE (from Peru) to the apt. I want to rent. Admin's advice is to take the form from my asq here in BKK when I leave. Problem is the address on the form is an old one; the new place is across town.
Hope for more admin advice on this. Thanks.

Upon landing in CNX do what you want.
Thanks! One hotel cancelled my booking because I'm in BKK. The next places won't care?
-
The asq asked for the address in Ch Mai where I'll be living. I gave where I usually stay, though I'd planned to try another apt. bldg. if possible.
However, am I now locked into the address I gave to the asq bureaucrats? (That is, must I stay in the address printed on the form that allows me to come from quarantine directly to Ch Mai from the BKK airport?)
Thank you.

Many people have already gotten non-ed visas and extensions for it. No different than studying muay thai and other martial arts training.
Somehow I thought that martial arts visas weren't being given out. How can I find out about them? Thank you.

I have seen a copy of a passport showing Chiang Mai accepting a application for a 60 day extension that was ending at the end of February with a under consideration stamp dated mid March.
I am sure you will be able to get a 60 day extension if needed after you apply for the allowed 30 day extension of your entry.
There is no info on the MOE website for registered schools that I am aware of.
This agent might be able to help. The page is for a 12 month self defense course but I think they also have normal language classes offered. https://chiangmaibuddy.com/visa-heaven/12-month-self-defence-ed-visa/
Thanks so much! I'll get going on this today. Especially important is the mention of the 60 day extension. BTW. I'm not sure that self defense study is part of a visa now, but I'd really enjoy it. Thai language is certainly interesting! I'm thankful.

Thats all great guys.
But whether they will really accept it after being in the open from ASQ to the airport, lets see. This is Thailand, I cannot rely on not having to do self-isolation. There is no such thing as a "fact" in Thailand.
I hope youre right. I have seen that confirmation for Phuket, not for Chiang Mai.
I'm finishing quarantine in BKK in a few days. The asq prepares a form to take with you. So far I've found that if I have the correct paperwork, things go well. (usually) I also found it odd that being in the open in a normal taxi was ok, but they just laughed, said they'd phone one for me to the airport. I plan to do nothing but exit the cab & get on the plane. I'll ask the asq if it's ok to stop at an atm, but unless they say it's fine, I won't do it. Hope this helps.

...21 days...
This is extremely hard to fathom...If the Thais are dishing out visas on the 29th, why can't I just get one like everybody else? BUT: is there a MOE link to registered language schools? Friends are doing their best to help, but it's slow going. Any reliable unbroken links are appreciated! Thanks.

I flew from Ecuador straight to ASQ. I have 2 bags & hope to keep them w/out penalties/huge charges but can lighten them a bit. What airline should I book to CNX? Planning on ED visa/student visa, too. It's been awhile since I've been in LOS. Many changes, but so glad to be back. Many thanks
I'd forgotten how blessedly cheap Thai airlines are: by slightly scaling down, my bags are going to be fine.

You should not have a problem finding a room in Chiang Mai. Try to get a flight to CM the same day you finish quarantine and have proof you did it and have had a test showing you are not infected.
Ask the hotel for help with getting a sim card. For a few extra baht they might be able get one by showing their ID card.
Thanks ; it worked!

will chiang mai guest houses routinely refuse me an apt./room now? This is serious. I finish asq in bkk & have no where to go? Hope for an answer. No sim card to call places. Just this wacko email from the apt. i'd counted on.

You can apply for a 30 day extension of your visa exempt entry. I assume you got a 45 day entry not 30 days when you entered the country.
You could also apply for the 60 day covid 19 extension but by the time your current entry ends the order for it may of been extended beyond the 29th.
Chiang Mai immigration normally want 21 days remaining on your permit to stay to apply for a non-ed visa.
thank you\

Where would the OP find a reasonable choice of language schools: Chiang Mai,
Is where I lived before & will again. OK, I'll call American L school in Ch Mai tomorow. Already paid those huge sums for flights, insurance, asq & now I'll get the visa. 1st find a school, then.... submit applcation (?). & 29 Jan. extend. I think there are restrictions on the schools. Am L should know. Thank you.

In SFO, 5 minutes before boarding Qatar said the Thai govt demanded I get an onward ticket when my visa exception of 30 days was up. They got me a flight to Cambodia on Feb. 10. So I feel I'd better get moving on the visa I'd planned on: an education (student?) visa to study Thai language. I'm in quarantine in BKK; got here today. What should I do next? Thank you.

Best to have the test result translated.
You should be able to find a translation service to do it that could stamp it.
Things are increasingly covid-centered, the SFO airport almost empty.& even in Guayaquil at the airport & in the city things were reduced to basics. Cheerful, but basics, no translations, no friend of a friend to help. We shall see. Thanks for writing.

Thank you. The new fit to fly form was much easier to deal with, too. There was one flaw in the final day: the lab report's in Spanish. Not a real complicated report, 'negativo' being the important thing, so I wish I could just leave it as it is. I'll be in Guayaquil, EC tomorrow to get the flight, & so far people say I can get on the plane, with all the other docs. Should I ask a visa facilitator to translate it for me?

You will need the fit to fly within 72 hours before your flight. That should not be hard to get done. Just show one of these two forms to a clinic for doctor . F2F form or F2F-Form (1) Here is the 2nd one translated to Spanish to show a doctor so they can just fill in the blanks in on the english one. Fit to fly certificate in Spanish.pdf
I think the airlines are aware now that Thailand only the covid 19 test certificate to be issued 72 hours before the first departure flight.
What about the T8 form? Where do I get it? Thank you for the fit to fly forms!

What is the day you leave Ecuador? Only the test results certificate need to done 72 hours before departure.
I leave EC Jan. 11 12 43 am. So I must have the test results but not the fit to fly? Then I'm ok. thank you. But where do I get that?
I wanted to share this w/ the group/board; it might help somebody: the Lima embassy wrote that a person traveling a long route similar to mine was stopped by Qatar in Dubai. Qatar wanted him to take another test (in Dubai) because the rt pcr test was 'too old.' But then they let him fly on to Bangkok! (I'll fly through Doha, but I hope it's similar.)
Thank you.

It is for the departing flight from where you at when the test is done. That also the first place you need to show the COE.
Sorry for temporarily being discouraged.
The test has to be done either in Cuenca or Guayaquil, and I can't find anyplace in Guayaquil because of test results take a day or at least several hours. Same with SFO or anyplace in the US now: they're swamped with people who want to be tested. Since day 1 I've used the COE guidelines so I'd have the results & fit to fly to take onto the airplane in Ecuador. Is that all right, Cuenca or the city where the plane leaves? Thanks again.

It is shown here on the embassy in the states website. https://thaiembdc.org/visa_tourist_coe/
"4. A Medical certificate with a laboratory result indicating that COVID -19 is not detected, issued no more than 72 hours before departure"
It is also shown on the IATA website. Click on Thailand on the map. https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/world.php
You need to try and get it before leaving ecuador. They might not allow you to board your flight without it.
You will also need a fit to fly certificate issued no more than 72 hours before departure.
Thank you for your advice. I'm ok with the covid test & fit to fly (I've got that lined up here in Cuenca). It's the first embarkation point debate that's made me ...feel like this won't work, at least for now. some people say that means Guayaquil airport; most others say it means the last American stopping place before landing in Bangkok, and if I don't get that exactly right, BKK immigration won't let me in.

I'm not real keen on lots of hands on stuff with the covid paranoia I've run into. But maybe the self defense schools are taking that into consideration? Thank you for your opinion/advice.
