  1. Vinyl is a very light material. I found many good infos on YouTube. I guess I'll have to check with alibaba again. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for your responses, guys!!

They do sell pvc cladding though in loads of mock timber shades. Global and Home Pro for starters.

Looking at it though, its really an internal wall product as the timber colouring is just a vinyl wrap

The vinyl siding I am talking about is very light. You are probably referring to the cement cladding. I am building a tiny house on wheels and am trying to save as much weight as I possibly can, Eyecatcher. The house will look something like this one.

  3. Hi,

does anyone know a company here in Thailand, that sells vinyl siding for exterior walls? I have tried alibaba in China. They do have sidings for sale, but I would have to have an agent to do all the paperwork for transport and customs. This would probably be more expensive, than the material itself. Thanks!!

hello, nice to find you !

Will you be the first one making a tiny in Thailand ?

How much do you estimate the total cost ?

Thank you again for your update on this thread.

    Hi,
The way it looks, I will be the first one to build a tiny house here in Thailand. Waiting for the trailer and then I‘ll be ready to begin working. It‘s difficult to estimate the building costs. Hopefully, around THB 750.000.
I will update this thread from time to time.

  5. Hi,

although this topic is quite old, I would like to give you some infos about tiny houses in Thailand. I am past the planning stage and slowly but surely I'm closer to my dream of building my tiny house.

One thing, I guess, we might agree on in the LOS, you have to expect the unexpected. Although the official measuring version in Thailand is metric, just don't rely on that. You might buy a metric threaded bolt and and get only an imperial nut (No have!!). Very weird!! It's not like going to a trailer dealer in Europe or the US and ordering one and going to a home improvement store and getting your material to build it. It's not that easy here... If you keep looking and "googling" you will find what you are looking for. It might take longer, but you will eventually get everything together. Some things you might have to build from scratch, composting toilet for example.

I found an Austrian trailer builder in Udon Thani and a metal frame builder in Bangkok. Both constructors are professionals and know what it takes to build a tiny house on wheels.

I chose a metal frame, because of the insect problems in the tropics would have a negativ impact on a wooden house frame and, not to forget, the weight issue. I am planning on a maximum weight of 3500 kg. The trailer will be finished at he end of this month (October 2018) and will have a street registration and will be towed to Pattaya where I will begin the building process. I personally live in Phuket, but getting all the materials together here would be more of a challenge, I would think. There are many tiny house videos on "YouTube" and hope there will be a couple of others that might be encouraged to build one of their own. I am very exited on building my little dream home on wheels and will also document my building process on YouTube.

Here is a link of where I bought my plans, if you're interested.

If you have any tips or suggestions, I'll be happy to hear from you.

  6. I am behind this idea of having a choice between taxis and a comfortable bus. Competition is the magic word. But..... in my opinion, this nonsense of having to buy a “Rabbit Card” is a bit weird. I have noticed people not boarding the bus because they had to buy a card for THB 100 first and then had the amount taken out of their card balance (THB 200). To top things off, it is not possible to top up the card anywhere in Rawai, although it should be possible at any Tesco Lotus Express. If you live in Rawai, you would have to go to the nearest McDonald’s, which happens to be in Patong!! It’s not the lack of passengers, that might bring this good idea to a screeching halt, it’s the incompetence!! Sorry for the harsh words...... but it’s true!!

  7. What documents will I need to re-re-re-re-register?? Would I have to bring along the rental agreement and the owners copy of ID and copy of passport and copy of visa and copy of TM6 and copy of entry stamp??? Please, please Immigration Officers ..... make it a little easier on us!! All of this hassle for staying away for just one night is shooting way above the target!!

Here is a video from Thai Immigrations. It sounds so simple, I just went through this "procedure" last week at Phuket Immigration. They wanted copies of all of the above.

Somehow I have the feeling, that no-one really knows what they're doing.

The "transfered to an inactive post" rubbish is so annoyingly opaque and ambiguous. What does that really mean? Maybe told to stay at home, just hang at HQ in the canteen on full pay whilst being mocked for being caught by fellow officers, come sign in and then bail to the soapy for the afternoon and drink Heineken till it blows over and we'll sneak you back in somewhere so things can carry on as per usual. These officers are complicit to the charges. Such complete and utter BS.

..... I have been asking this question many times to myself..... What is an inactive post??? Maybe someone can help and shed some light on this.......

  9. I feel the exact same way, although I come from Germany and and everything is over regulated there. I always have the feeling, when going back, that I am being squeezed into a "straight jacket". The only reason for going back to Europe's to visit my daughters twice a year and I have been living in Phuket for 5 years now and I am really happy to call Thailand my home. We all know, there is "room for improvement" here (putting it mildly ;-) Try to stay out of trouble and avoid government agencies..... then you are almost in paradise. Yepp...... it's home!!
