KC and BENQ , those are blessed words. at the age of 73, its easy to think the worst, of new problems arising like this. Thank you both. Good night.   Rātrī s̄wạs̄di̒.

  2. Building a wall, literally, in this day and age is medieval (to quote Trump). Sometimes I wonder if he is into the concept of a Kingdom of America, which is also medieval thinking. I suggest something hi-tech,. along the lines of  Revenge of the Machines type technology - 1,000 drones - each patrolling 2 miles of border, ought to do the job; the cost will be considerably lower, creating hi tech jobs for Americans and businesses.  equipped with heat seeking sonic death rays.                            If the US would only change that silly/xenophobic rule......Arnold for President, I say. ????

  3. excuse if off topic, as I have 2 dtadlines I am trying to coordinate: My wife is not eligible for the online filing and we missed the 15 day mail in.

our 90 day is due on Jan 13 (a Sunday) so that menas we need to file it in operson on Jan 11. no problem there.

Our Retirement extension is February 11.

Do the regulation allow for us to visit Immigration on the 10th or 11th January and file for an extension of retirement? the 800,000 baht has been on deposit for 3 months.

    Thanks in advance.

Thye amendment only mentions changes to income option. No changes for the money in the bank or the combination option.

the worrying never stops, esp if you're when you're in your 70's. and have experienced 22 years of annual extensions. my wife piggy backs on my extension. This has been a discretionary practice by IO's.... there is always the possibility that they will take it away, requiring us to show 1.6 million a year income or a similar amount in the bank. we have already experienced the reaction that the 800,000 in the bank is not enough... our IO has asked us to show that we have money coming in and that we are spending it, during the previous 12 months.                                                                      Joe: I have a question about how early I may apply, prior to my retirement extension date (there are more circumstances which I will not post here). Thanks to all for the great support group. I believe that without that support, Thailand is not such an attractive place for Westerners to retire to any more.

They would not accept the report in Surat Thani. I has to be done at the office that issued the extension unless a formal change of address is done.

I appreciate your advice, but how does it reconcile with this quote (item 4 - http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/base.php?page=90days)  please? Thanks.

Thanks, Joe. I was hoping so. The IO in Surat issued me a reentry permit, in August. I was hoping they would accept a TM47 as well.  I guess the concept of a national Immigration information grid will happen in the next century. ????

Are you sure he understood - wife would have to attend a marriage extension of stay.  But anyone can file TM47 for you with your authorization.

my fault, didnt have written authority from wife last time. I just read the whole set of online filing instructions. they look pretty clear. but it is 4.30 pm and an online application will not be processed until Monday, which will be 2 days short of the advance filing requirements. i am still ignorant of why when I press 'submit' page 1, it does not go to page 2.

You can have others submit your report if ununable to do yourself - does not have to be wife.  But appears you have not submitted so an try a few more times.  I can not do because last entry about 15 years ago so not a good source for information but believe one items is the choice for nationality and you must use that and not type in answer.  You should not have to fill in items not stared as required.

thanks. i spotted that too. The nationality menu has a prepared list. Canadian is listed in English and Thai. so I clicked on that, rather than type in "Canadian". I have a screen grab of my online submission.. whichi compared with the previous TM47. No luck in finding any discrepancies. IO says my wife MUST attend., or else get a doctors certificate., which  requires an additional and longer car trip. we'll just have to grin and bear it. Next time, I will revert to using Thailand Post.    thanks for advice.

Your report was not accepted - you have made a previous report in person and used all the drop down menu type answers and typed others exactly as in your last report?

previous report was filed by post. i copied the exact details on to the online form, filled in the Captcha security code and clicked 'submit' . the differences are: the previously filed hardcopy TM47 did not ask for DOB, nor airflight #. It did ask for address and phone number, which is not asked for on the online submission menu. I must be missing something? Wife is really worried, as a car trip to IO is very difficult for her and it is to late to post in a TM47.

Sendintheclowns, are you thai or foreigner?

Only if you are Thai, to receive dividends, should you own local shares.

If you are foreign, you must own foreign shares to get paid dividends. Otherwise, if you own local shares, no dividend.

This is posted on the SET website...on page 7 of the Foreign Handbook.

    www.set.or.th/en/trading/files/SET_Foreign_Handbook_v2.pdf

Just so you know, unless you care about voting rights or (in my case) rights for Corporate Tax Credits on dividends paid, it might be easier for you just to own NVDRs instead of the foreign shares, particularly if you buy and sell often.

thanks I'm an expat. been investing for years. i know the rules. about holding NVDR status shares. my broker arranged for us to presign blank conversion forms, from NVDR to Local. everytime she saw a div. declared, she converted to local. Once a stock went XD, she converted back. Before she quit K and moved to M., she passed on the presigned forms, which her successor trashed, without letting me know. of course I've moved my money. and no, Maradona, 55,000 baht is not a lot of money. It is the principle.

Can you not send them an e-mail , attach your pending status and ask them if there is a problem .

This is what i had to do on my last one , and it looks like i will have to do it again on this one.

this is my first time filing online. so excuse the lack of know-how. 2 questions: 1. Classic Ray writes that his submission was accepted immediately to pending status. once I submitted my filing, I got an standard wording response to contact my local IO.                                 2. since the submission menu does not ask for my email address, how can I expect to receive approval? thanks.

I am dumbfounded. Tried online 90 day report today after many previous failures, accepted immediately to pending status. Just had an email at 8pm tonight to say approved. I can only put it down to the Big Joke effect, well done Thai Immigration!

Thanks for the good news. I submitted my online 90 day, on Oct 5. Still no email confirmation today (Oct 12) as the deadline is Oct. 20, should I resubmit it?

  15. I dealt with a large stockbroker firm in Bangkok.

in 2017, the broker I assigned to, suggested I pre-sign blank forms needed to convert my foreign designated stock in BTS, into local designated stock. You need to do this, before the dividend is paid, otherwise you lose your rights to receive the entire dividend. The broker I dealt with did this all year. Then she left in December. Before she left, she passed on all of the forms I had pre-signed. The new broker thrashed all of the forms, as it was not company policy.  They did not let me know what they had done. So I lost 55,000 baht dividend, declared by BTS in December.

The stockbroker company denies responsibility. It is not worth hiring a lawyer. Can I go through something similar to what we have in Canada, a Small Claims Court? Has anyone exerience of doing this, successfully or otherwese.

I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

You cannot be registered in a blue house book unless you are Thai or have permanent registry.

The owner of condo that has a blue house book for it can be shown as house master in a yellow house book book based upon it.

Immigration will not know you have moved until you inform them of it and you could put any date on the form when you do the change of address.

Thanks for that info., Joe. Maybe you can expand your advice, to cover my situation, please?    I have 2 residential properties,  in different provinces. I want to move my address of record, for Immigration reporting purposes (90 day and retirement visa extension) to the other province. The second property is an apartment (not a condo). I have a Blue Book issued by the company which built the apartment. Since I am a foreigner, my name is not recorded in it. I have a registered 30 year lease, as well . I may have to hire an immigration agent, since the matter is complicated by the fact that the company has gone out of business.  What would be a useful start, is to know this: can a Blue Book for an apartment be used as the basis for seeking a Yellow Book? TIA.

  17. My update: bought the Zinsano Atlantic 11. it sat idle for the past 3 months, until I got a work crew in, 2-3 weeks ago. The washer has preformed admirably (although not as visually attractive as using  soapy models, to which idea my wise wife drew the line the sand).  several small and large projects around the property. I had all (40 meters) of the Winsor gutters pressure cleaned in half a day, whilst they were taken down. We were refinishing the exterior of the house in smart board, as the house is at the beach. where top line metal paint does not preform well, if not applied properly.   I've spent a small fortune using metal paint, over the past 12 years,  (nobody in this region knows how to apply metal paint properly). Smart board allows me to switch to a water-based paint finish. final note - is punning a lost art.  ?

Almost 3 years to the day old, the starting capacitor on my Karcher decided to leak electrolyte and stop working. Replaced it for 450 Baht, and it's a good as new. Used on average for around 4 hours/week (3 hours continuous to clean ~400sqm of sandwash, then washing 3 cars @ around 20 mins of on/off use each).

I think with Karcher if you buy the more expensive ones, you get a good one.. But if you buy the cheap ones, you really are buying a cheap one.

Buying my first washer. for regular cleaning 3 sand wash decks totalling 400 sw. mt. and a lane way. If this forum reactivates  i will update. Prices: at the moment, HomePro have a promotion on washers: The medium range Zinsano's are the Artic (120BAR.6l/pm) is reduced from 6350 to 3590 baht. the Atlantic II reduced from 7590 to 5990 baht. the 'con' is both Chinese made. The Caspian is normally 11,900 reduced at Lazada to 7300 baht. powerful unit 150 BAR 7L/pm. and that's a very attractive price, compared to the Zinsano website. I'll check at Home Pro to see where it is made. If Italian made I'll buy for sure. If China, I'll have to rethink my budget vv a compromise. Bosch Aquatak sells on Lazada for 5400 (1000 baht discount).
