  1. I am applying online for a non-o (Thai wife) long stay single entry visa. Can anyone please provide me with some support who has successfully completed the online application. Section Supporting Documentation….
3 . Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party.

Is this different to showing bank statements proving more than £10,000 in the bank. I don’t have a regular income into my bank as I am recently retired, but don’t receive a UK pension until 2024. However, I have a sizeable private pension fund which I can draw down from as and when needed. What should I provide the online application.

Secondly, I am applying for the 1 year long stay non-o visa but will leave Thailand after 5 months to then return a couple of months later, is it best to get a re-entry permit prior to exiting Thailand. Rather than apply for the non-o multi entry visa, which I believe requires more information provided.

  2. I am similarly planning to return to Thailand to be long term with my Thai wife, in the past I have entered on 60 day visas to visit my wife and applied for extensions of stay. However, now I want to return on a non o marriage visa based on being married to my Thai wife. I noticed in the above response from the the visa team that….O Spouse Visa Conditions- The O Spouse is valid for a single entry 90 days or multiple entries 1 year from the date of issuance (period of stay not exceeding 90 days for each visit). I will be based in the far south and don’t want the hassle of leaving the country every 90 days on a multi entry visa. I apologise for my lack of visa knowledge I have not been looking at the visa requirements for sometime. I don’t want to go down the non o retirement route, any advice is greatly appreciated.

  3. I suggest those interested in this debate search on Google Scholar for relevant papers discussing the pros and cons of cannabis…. Read this one to start with… https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapsychiatry/article-abstract/2804266?casa_token=QOXbErpX3JgAAAAA:qMlczdek1C5Ra8EXu1NfKxNBm9CmnKzQm1AMvl7u4269ZQWSvWtgSmY8mfXQmqF_tu85WCPfgPQ

S0econdhand pay cash cause interest rates if you borrow are high.

The dealer will sort out all paperwork you needed.

Yes I was going to pay by cash, thanks for your response

Pretty sure you need a certificate of residence from immigration.

I did anyway. I then took the transfer documents from previous owner signed etc along wirh my COR letter from immigratiin and registered motor in my name.

Like a lot of things here process may differ province to province and getting COR may need a 500 baht nudge.

I did not need it but know others that have. Speed the process up type of scenario. All above board, of course.

Dealer purchase should be smoother but i know a guy who got a real run around from the dealer.

A blue book is part of the transfer docs and your name will go onto that once complete. May be green i get confused we have bikes and cars. But you need that and need to check that book data tallies with car. VIN no. Etc.

Get that book before handing over cash. Check it. Ensure you can get a COR before paying anything.

Wise is a good option but for over 50k its only available to bkk bank and kasikorn accounts.

Thanks for your advice, I will look into the COR. If the car is registered in my Thai wife’s name will it be any easier and will she need a COR.

  5. My ability to learn Thai is slow and I need a handheld device that provides voice to voice Thai to English translations. I have looked at the Pocketalk S  model which has a 2 yr data sim and the unit costs approx €280. Do any members use translation devices or smartphone apps and what are your recommendations.

  6. I have not kept up to date with the latest insurance requirements to get a non o visa based on being married to my Thai wife. It’s difficult to see on websites with conflicting views. Can anyone who has recently acquired a non o visa based on marriage let me know what the health insurance requirements are.  My wife gets health insurance from the hospital she works at and this also covers me for health insurance, would this be accepted  by immigration.

  7. @carlyaiI appreciate your response, you made some good suggestions. I will add data cables as the property is over 500m2 and WiFi could be a potential problem. I am planning to put solar panels on the nearby garage roof, for ease of access. The plan is to have a gable roof using SCG fibre cement roof tiles facing east and west and install quality insulation. I would like some form of solar water heating but I don’t see it regularly used here as they do in Mediterranean countries, so if anyone has any experience I would like to hear from you.

When I built a house years ago (yes, with an Ex but no regrets) there was one thing she did that impressed me.  She spent several days driving around nearby villages and anytime she saw a new house she liked, she'd ask the owners if the builder had been reliable and had stuck with the contract.

As a result, we ended up with a terrific builder, never a day late or unexplained days off.  House completed a week prior to schedule for exactly what we were quoted.

We have a good builder in place having seen their previous builds and they are currently working on my wife’s parents property renovation so I can more easily monitor their work.

  9. For those members who have gone through the process of having a house built In the south of Thailand and I am seeking your experience on a range of things.

Firstly, I am looking at Q-con blocks for the external walls one option is to construct walls with 25cm wide blocks, or alternatively double skin walls using 12.5cm blocks with a 10cm air gap. The cost of materials is very similar but of course double the labour costs, and if I go for the double wall what about insulation in the air gap as I am concerned about insect infestation. I look forward to receiving your advice and hearing your experiences. Does anyone have any recent experience of the cost per m2 to lay q-con blocks and the cost of rendering per m2.

Secondly, any advice on window frames and doors, the area where we are building is rural and very quiet so I am not sure if it warrants double glazing or not, and should I go for upvc or aluminium windows.

I am sure over the next few months I will be further seeking advice from members here who have already or currently going through the process of building.

Trying to get clarify after the latest announcement with last day of entry being January 15. I have an approved pass for January 18 for test and go. If I change my flight, insurance and test and go hotel to a date prior to January 15, is this acceptable for entry? It's still quite unclear and so much confusion out there still.

Same as yourself I arrive on the 18 Jan under the test and go. I have read you can amend flights within 72 hrs and asked if anyone has successfully brought their flight forward within 72 hrs. Furthermore, is the 72 hrs from arrival in Thailand or start of your flight. As my QR code shows entry as 18 January, so on this basis is it possible to bring the arrival date forward by 72 hrs making a new arrival date of 15 Jan and would entry be allowed on the 15 Jan

  11. I have under the test and go everything in place for departure from the UK 17 January arriving in Bangkok 18 January, but this looks unlikely to happen now. So plan B is to cancel my tickets with Emirates and book a new flight 13 January arriving in Bangkok 14 January. But can anyone confirm if I am still able to apply for a Thai Pass for arrival in Thailand 14 January, of course I will need to get all requirements for the Thai Pass in place. Obviously this is dependant on the deadline being extended to the 15 January

  12. I am about to purchase Emirates flight tickets to Bangkok and the best price is through FlightCatcher. But reading their reviews there are some concerns mainly about flight cancellations. However, I think flight cancellations are not so prevalent as the flight industry starts flying into Thailand. Any feedback by members purchasing Emirates flights through FlightCatchers would be appreciated.

  13. I am in the process of completing the online visa to get a non o visa but need some guidance.
    Travel Information

It asks for flight number, I have not booked this yet as flying from Birmingham to Bangkok mid January with Emirates. Should I input the flights I think I will travel on.

When I sign out of the form this section is in red indicating I need to complete this. I am a UK National applying for the visa in the UK so this should not apply to me.

Las time I used a passport was 18 months ago because of covid restrictions. That passport has expired and my new passport from May 2021 has no stamps and not used. What should I submit.

Will a copy of a utilities bill to my UK address be sufficient.

I appreciate any guidance from those who have successfully applied for a non o visa online.
