Ive never heard about this. Has this been in the press? What is your evidence for this statement?

BANGKOK (Reuters) - More than a third of Thailand’s newly appointed senators have military or police backgrounds, an official document showed on Tuesday, a sign the upper house will probably vote to entrench army dominance of government five years after a military coup.…… https://www.reuters.com/article/us-thailand-election-idUSKCN1SK12J

  2. I flew out of Bangkok on a Sunday evening a week ago with Swiss Air, the queue at immigration was 2 desks and only 4 /6 people waiting. No problems with clearing immigration they were polite and took a photo of my passport and completed a form about my passport and departure. The flight was 80% full with a small proportion of people not correctly wearing face masks. Even worse on the flight from Zurich to the UK which was 50% full a few people were not wearing masks or had them just covering their chins. Why are people acting in this way is it bravado or just a case they won’t be told what to do. To be honest I felt the covid protection was significantly better in Thailand than the UK and can see why the death and infection rate is so high.

  3. I accept what you say ...... but in my case I have been carefully following SwissAir flights in and out of Bangkok. My flight is regular each week the aircraft arrives early morning and departs late at night..... flightradar24 is a good app to follow aircraft movements. My flight is out of Thailand so less restrictions as shown by UK embassy advice notice

  4. I am flying out with SwissAir Very soon and see their flights are still operating regularly. My question is what new procedures are in place as a result of Covid-19 for flying out of Suvarnabhumi. I don’t want to arrive to find I need a doctors certificate to state I am negative for Covid-19. Additionally, are departures fairly free of queues and free flowing. Has anyone flown with SwissAir to Zurich recently as I wanted to know if there was ample distancing between passengers.

  5. Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere. I arrived in Jan on a non o for 90 days ( married to Thai) and because of my return flight cancellation I extended my visa by 60 days. The visa expires early June, I have looked at immigration websites and see I do not need to extend the visa if i leave the country before the 31 July.... is this correct.

  6. I don’t have any transportation but with the covid crisis I need some form of transport. I ave seen a Honda click 2020 secondhand for sale at what seems a good price. When buying a used motorbike here what do I need to watch for..... for example how can I check if there is any outstanding finance on the motorbike etc. Any pointers what I should be looking for mechanically and electrically. Any idea what I should normally be paying for a 110cc click registered early January 2020.

  7. Again the incompetent IO said they were open on Moody and come back then.... afterwards my wife realised it was a public holiday... Perhaps he strain is getting to staff difficult times for us all. I will only apply now for the 60 day extension not sure what options will be available after this. My Thai wife is adamant she wants to move away from Thailand and live in Europe preferably Portugal so we won’t bother with money in a Thai bank option and banks currently not opening new accounts.

  8. Thanks Peter.... when applying for the non o one year extension I knew about money in the bank requirement but I also thought there was an option of monthly income.... anyone able to tell me about this and what’s needed. Unfortunately in my experience Hat Yai IO are making it more difficult than it needs to be. I also have the UK embassy letter asking for support in getting a visa.... my wife works at the hospital in Hat Yai and I do t want her to face covid on her own and also risk a lengthy journey back to the U.K. at this time. Hopefully things will settle in a couple of months ... but AI m not holding my breath

  9. Anyone give good guidance as I have a non o single entry visa based on marriage to a Thai... My Thai wife called Hat Yai IO to get full list of requirements to extend visa by 60 days..... total chaos there yesterday and staff acting very aggressively to people. On seeing the IO they asked for photos of us at home which we did not bring as not on the list given to us.... visa expires on 7 April and public holiday on 6 April so will go in on last day. I will take extra photos of us in house and proof of marriage from Amphur and map. What are my options... 60 day extension minimum.... but could I get a one year extension on my non o single entry. I don’t have a Thai bank account and banks not opening new accounts. I can access online bank statements showing I have in excess of the monthly income required will they accept prints from online bank. I appreciate any good advice in these difficult times.

  10. In the past on trips to Europe I bring a selection of vacuum packed meats back with me and never had my problems at Suvarnabhumi airport. But now the with the swine fever epidemic in China and new x-ray equipment at the airport, will bringing in a selection of meats (10kg) be a problem. Any reports on recent experiences would be appreciated.

  11. So was polite but not submissive when given false information about their requirements as I know a bad attitude gets bad results. Firm but polite is my style and anyway my wife did all of the communicating, she is polite but firm also. At the end we left the office all parties smiling with them bad mouthing us as we left.... lol. At the time we were waiting an American guy was at the counter asking advice.... my wife told me the staff were very rude and disrespectful about him talking in Thai

  12. I understand the Kor Ror 2 requirement but missed seeing in other posts here on TV. I will not pursue the extension of stay as our plans have changed for next year for being in Thailand. But I will seek a 60 day extension to visit my wife,  my concern they will again to refuse to offer this. So can anyone give me a link where I can print off details that the Thai Imm Office accept this as I will need to show the IO at Hat Yai this as in my experience of them they are not well trained and lack key knowledge.

What they wanted was a updated Kor Ror 2 marriage registry from any Amphoe. It would take few minutes and cost 20 baht.

What they were going to give you was a under consideration stamp with a report back date on it 30 days from the date you applied for the extension. Then on or before that date you would get the one year extension stamp.

You could of asked for a 60 day extension to visit your your wife to give yourself more time.

You could of asked for a 60 day extension to visit your give yourself more time..... i asked for this but they said i was not able to apply for this on my non o visa. There is no mention in the rules about requiring an  updated Kor Ror 2 marriage registry... is this now a normal requirement

  14. I have a single entry non o visa based on marriage and entered BKK on the 12 April and exit date is 10 July but my outbound flight is 22 July. My plan was to get an extension of stay on my non o visa and paid GBP 52 to the British Embassy for income affidavit letter showing I was well over the 40,000 required per month. Took all documentation and more to Hat Yai IO today and could not believe the BS they were telling my wife and me. The IO and a senior IO  stated they required an updated marriage certificate from the amphur, we fought this and asked them to show in the government rules that state this requirement. Secondly they stated I needed to have a Thai bank account with 400,000 as I think the woman officer was getting herself confused with requirements for a retirement visa which I dont want. Then in the discussion they asked my wife for full details of her bank account details..... well this got her fired up and she quickly shot them down on this one. We then waited outside while they discussed my case and they called us in again, the requirement for a  updated marriage certificate was no longer mentioned as was my wifes bank holdings. The IO meticulously went through my pay slip and I politely pointed out that my salary was well over the 40,000 requirement even after deductions, I could see she was a penpusher with little true knowledge of the requirements. To end they said the option was they would submit my visa extension of stay and give an extension for 30 days until the 9 August but on that date I needed to come back to Thailand to start the extension of stay... to be honest this last part I was having difficulty understanding as I had lost all patience with them and the situation. I said I was unable to return on the 9 August and they  said my best option was go to Malaysia for a couple of days return with a tourist on arrival giving me cover until I exit on the 22 July. I had no trust in what they they were  telling me and knew they were wrong on a number of things, have other had problems with Hat Yai IO I also had problems last year with them. So i wasted money on the affidavit letter and now need to go to Malaysia, so any advice for when I apply next year for an extension of stay or shall I do it in Vietnam.

  15. I am completing the forms for the income affidavit and was going to send my application by email but I have just seen the form stating...

Consular Letter Confirming Pension/Income for Retirement Visa – Fee No 2 (i)

This service is only available by post.

Can anyone please confirm email is accepted for an income affidavit to apply for extension of stay

  16. I could not open the London site so lookedon the LA USA site, you make no mention of your bank statements or a letter from your wife verifying the application and stating you are still married...   the Los  Angeles site requests the following..

           - When submitting application  include:

           - Your actual passport - valid for at least six more months (18 more months if applying for multiple-entry visa) and passport must have some blank visa pages - include a copy of the "picture/information" page of the passport
           - Two recent passport-type photos
           - Copy U.S. Permanent Resident card or long-term U.S. Visa (does not apply to U.S. passport holders)
           - Completed visa application [download]
           - Recent bank statement showing at least $700 US
           - Copy of airline tickets or e-ticket and...

To visit as a spouse of a Thai nationality, Fiance and Fiancee are not eligible for this category.
           - A copy of a valid and effective marriage certificate.
           - A copy of Thai passport /or Thai I.D. of the spouse.
           - A letter from the spouse verifying that the applicant and the spouse are still married and the purpose to visit Thailand.

To visit as an immediate family member of a Thai nationality
           - Documents proving such relationship with the visa application e.g., Birth Certificate and Thai Passport/ Thai I.D. of the parents who are Thai.

I think Joe is right; when I encountered issues with my income letter from the US Embassy; Thai immigration granted my extension, but made me write a letter to them promising to show the money filtering through a Thai account next year.

Is it a requirement to have overseas earnings in a Thai bank to get an extension Of stay, and are immigration allowed to make you sign a letter to state future income will be paid into a Thai bank.

  18. Thanks for the replies....

what paperwork would I need to supply my local immigration office for an extension of stay based on marriage. I dont like putting any money into a bank here in Thailand and ask if money held in a UK bank is acceptable. Would I need to provide my local immigration with proof of my bank holdings and proof of earnings and would this need verification by my embassy in Bangkok. What are the opinions on extension based on marriage as opposed to a non OA visa based on age and funds
