I would advice you keep clear of this dog as it seems to be highly aggressive.... For your own added safety I would r commend you use an app on your phone that generates a high frequency sound that the dog does not like and it will keep it away from you... I have had good results myself..

The more I read about incidences in Pattaya the more it remains one of the last places I will ever visit in Thailand..... but then I am not drawn to these less salubrious areas in Thailand or any other country.

Don't just take into account the weight of the bag but when you are punching the bag it will cause the bag to swing and jolt putting considerably more force on the ceiling rails. I think it would be only a matter of time before it gave way and came crashing down. See if the floor above the false ceiling is solid as if you have access to a hammer drill you could drill and fix a rawl bolt I to the ceiling

Update on my affidavit to marry.... I have an appointment booked ar 8.45am and have been told by the British embassy that my affidavit will be stamped and signed at my appointment and I won't need to collect it the next day which is good news. I have been told there are translation services in a mall close to the British embassy, but there also translation services at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs see below taken from other threads on this forum....

Why don't you ask your hotel to provide you with a rental contract, a contract that allows you to leave should you want to move on without being tied to giving any period of notice

300 men plus other backup support services how much did that cost the Thai tax payers?. even worse is that the amount in fines would not cover the cost of their fuel to get to the beach and back.
Huh? They were being paid anyhow!
Are you one of those who seeks an excuse for not doing rather than finding a reason how to improve something? That is sad, really. I can only assume you're never been a "victim" of anything.
What I am trying to conveying is why it had to take 300 men to do this, surely no more than 25 would have been sufficient. To me 300 men is excessive I just wished I see the days when I see the police having a considerably higher profile on the streets and in police cars. Looking to find police patrol cars is like finding rocking horse poop.

Why not contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs directly and ask them if the Income letter needs to be translated into Thai and legalised by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In future I must make a point of never staying anywhere that has a balcony.... It would be much safer and stop any possible figure pointing that goes on too often in Thailand

Sadly it seems from many of the news articles on TV that violence against victims is an increasing occurrence in Thailand, but the truth is its the same for most countries. I am not a gun person and I tend to put greater emphasis on prevention methods that would deter most burglars or criminals. Which means good CCTV and alarms and good well trained dogs. Most criminals are opportunists and would rather select a more softer option . Having said that I do have weapons such as batons strategically placed.

One of my favourites are English Lincolnshire sausages, amazing seasoning giving a fantastic flavour which takes some beating

Being caught up in momentary rage appears to be a character flaw of many Thai men

If there are rules I doubt they will be enforced, I have brought in so many odd things over the years and NEVER been stopped once, Petrol hedge cutters, petrol leaf blower, Palm trees, assorted food stuffs tools etc etc and I dont mean a bit I mean 50-60 kilos at a time in my luggage
How do you manage to get 50-60 kg that weight I am sure is checked in luggage... What's the tip not to get charged a huge amount for every kilo over your baggage allowance
-
What are the customs regulations about what food I can bring with me in my luggage.... I was thinking of bringing some vacuum packed high quality sausages as I could never find good quality sausages on my visits.

I have travelled in many countries and I thought the Sky Train service from the airport into the city was excellent. Too many negative people here who are very blinkered and probably little experience of travelling in many other countries.

I wonder if the taxi driver had the meter switched on as they are supposed to. But why should he expect another driver to take his elderly passenger to the Police station for assistance and why did he not do that. Taxis bring immense shame on Thailand and are probably ranked as some of the worst taxis in the world

Has anyone any experience in getting a affidavit for marriage signed and stamped fast track. I have an appointment at the British Embassy at 8:45am and thought you walked out with the affidavit signed and stamped. But it seems they are not that efficient. What is the earliest I could expect to get the signed affidavit as later that afternoon I have a flight at 2pm from Suvarnabhumi airport so would need the signed affidavit for 12pm. Does the embassy provide the service of posting the signed affidavit for a fee or can they fast track it and ensure I get the signed affidavit before 12pm the same day. Or alternatively is there a service provided by reputable companies to collect the affidavit then get it translated and approved by the FCO and then post it to me. Your experiences and thoughts are greatly appreciated
My last option is to cancel my flight with ThaiSmile stay another night in Bangkok and book a flight with ThaiSmile the next afternoon after I get the signed affidavit the next morning as consular collections are 11am - 12pm on the Friday

Thanks for the reply and apologies for my late reply.
It seems I was all set with my documents, as you explained, and it's the email from the consulate that threw me.
I've made another appointment for late Feb and all being well everything should go smoothly... we will see
Thanks again for clearing this up
Can you please update us here what is required when getting married in Bangkok and you are previously divorced and do you need your divorce paper and have its authenticity verified by the FCO

Women are slimmer in Indonesia in my experience....... But sadly like many countries as their income increases they have greater access to a diet fuller of sugar and fats that soon cause obesity as we see in the west and now become a major health concern

You should post the video on YouTube...... But the danger is then the local immigration office would then possibly make life hell for you.... Unless you could edit the video and block out their faces...... People need to be warned of the scum who pull these scamsDoesn't this belong in the Farang Pub Creative Imagination Forum?
Jumping up, falling back, running off, shouting, startled, driving off. Sounds like someone's been watching too many action hero cartoons, envisioning himself as the hero who strikes fear wherever he goes.
"I told him that I was filming him taking a photo of my Passport and that I would be taking the film to my Embassy.
He jumped up , fell backwards and quickly ran off, shouting threats about the consequences of what will happen the next time he sees me in town .
A few months later , I went to the immigration office to get a visa extension , as I walked into the office , the same immigration guy was sat at his desk .
He recognised me and looked startled and concerned .
He wouldnt look at me, he picked the papers up from his desk, walked out the office , into his car and drove off ."
I am in Chiang mai, if you would like to come and watch the video ?
Come and see for yourself .
Do you want too ?

PHUKET: About a hundred officers led by the Crime Suppression Division this morning surrounded the house of former Rassada Mayor Suratin Lian-udom's wife,
Wow it must be a very big house to need a hundred offices to surround it!

I am well travelled and also lived in a number of countries in Asia but I have never seen first hand or on the media about there being police and immigration raids in public area as we are reading about in this thread. Have any other members experienced police raids in other countries similar to the scale and regularity as are happening in Thailand
