  1. And today in the Newspaper that shall not be named reports surface that Thai Household debt is up 8.4% YoY with the average per household sitting at over 600,000 baht. Gambling and Praying may be seen as the only way some desperate households see themselves getting out from under the rubble.
  2. Yes. The regular trips to Hua Hin and back mean one has to look not only up but also left right and behind.
  3. Report on transferring LTR Visa from Old Passport to New. My Passport unfortunately ran out of pages and I had to get a new one which arrived at the Australian Embassy for collection last week (only two weeks from submission to my new one). Emailed BOI to ask what was needed: To transfer your LTR Visa to a new passport, please follow these steps 1. Please visit the Immigration One Stop Service Center for Visa and Work Permit (OSS) before 3:30 PM. You don't need to appear in person; instead, you can authorize a representative or someone you know to bring your passports for the visa transfer. There is no additional fee for this service. 2. Bring the following documents: - Original former and new passports - Transfer stamp to new passport form, download here:https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Transfer-Stamp-to-New-Passport-Form.pdf - Original certificate from your embassy (Australian does not require this document) - Copies of former and new passports with your photo - Copy of the last arrival stamp in your passport - Copy of the LTR Visa stamp in your passport - Copy of the last extended visa in your passport - Copy of T.M. 6 Card (if applicable) - Notification letter of qualification endorsement addressed to the Immigration Bureau (found within your LTR Visa account under the check status tab) - 1-Year notification card (if applicable) No TM6 or 1 Year Notification for me. Got my docs together, filled in the form and got to Chamchuri Square Immigration by about 10.30 this morning. Went to the information counter and had my application and docs checked. Had to go and get one extra page copied (Copy of the last extended visa) which was nowhere near my LTR Visa. Was given a queue number and told to wait for it to be called. There were two agents in front of me who were very friendly and expressed surprise I was able to navigate Thai Immigration and attend to my own affairs without (paid) Thai assistance! Waited 10 minutes then my queue number was called. The officer concerned checked all the docs and I could see her use a small hammer on my old passport (I later saw it was a VOID Stamp over the previous Visa). She said all was good and please come back in an hour as the boss needed to sign LTR Visas. Went down for a coffee and look around and went back in 45 minutes. My queue number was back at the counter and the Officer handed my new Passport with transferred Visa and old passport back. No cost and all in all about 70 minutes from start to finish. Went to True and my Banks to record my new passport details - but that took much longer! Hope that this helps someone .
  4. Yes correct. Open a Temu account and put in your delivery address. I just looked and they have a COD option. Plenty of junk on the site but the clothes I ordered fit just fine.
  5. I used Apple Pay. Not sure about COD sorry.
  6. I brought some clothes through Temu as the sizes through Thai online and retail stores “no can - you too big”. Everything fits just fine and the quality and price surprisingly good - not to mention free shipping. Saves me waiting to go back to Oz to some decent threads. Long live competition.
  7. I’m originally from Northern Australia. Taipans, King Browns and Death Adders are common. Plus various spiders that cause death, box jellyfish, saltwater crocodiles, scorpions and blue ringed octopus. If they don’t get you Cassowary and the odd cranky Big Red Kangaroo, wild pigs and wild water buffalo can really dent your day. So I’m pretty much snake aware and as Grandad said when I was a kid, walk away slowly facing the animal. Last with the rain bringing them out I spied a rather large Cobra in the vacant block next to my place. No way I was going near it to shoo it away. They are quick and not to be trifled with. We also have volunteers in Australia to help capture snakes (and crocodiles) that pose a risk. My hat goes off to them.
  8. I’ve had so many calls lately from scammers. They all start with +69. When I demand they speak English to me they quickly hang up. I don’t click on anything from anyone I don’t know but there are lots of scams going on. Even my Australian Credit Card was fraudulently used. And I hardly ever use it. Bank cancelled and sent me a new one. Be safe folks.
  9. Yes I have a Bangkok Bank FCD account. I can transfer online from the FCD to my Baht account but it must be done during business hours.
  10. Just don’t go to UOB! My Citibank Credit Card has been transferred to UOB. I went in to open a deposit account to make sure I have funds on my wife and my Credit Cards so we don’t pay any interest. UOB has asked for letters from my current banks showing interest (I have both K Bank and Bangkok Bank), utilities showing my home address (even though they send my credit card statements etc to the same address) copies of my passport, LTR Visa and Australian Drivers Licence in lieu of a National ID Card. Told them I couldn’t be bothered. Reminded me of the bad old days of going to immigration every 90 days!
  11. I just got a 6 years drivers licence (renew it the day after your birthday expiry) with my LTR. Went to Chamchuri Square and got my Certificate of Residence (form is on the BOI site), 100 baht for my Medical Certificate at the local clinic and watched the DLT video online and answered the accompanying questions that produced a QR code so no need to do the test at the DLT office. Also I went to a regional DLT Office with no other Farangs present and was done and dusted in 20 minutes.
  12. I have a condo. It’s suffices. My Australian Government pension is over $US80k some weeks and under on others. Depends on the exchange rate. When I applied it was just under $US80k but my condo was counted and I got my LTR.
  13. From recollection a member on this thread has been to the RD directly to apply for a TIN to cover the new requirements. The RD said and I paraphrase “no can” as LTR Visa holders are not affected by the RD’s new directive. You will have to scroll back some but I seem to recall. I too have the BOI email saying overseas remittances remain tax free but I am being careful to only remit 2023 savings and my DTA covered Australian Government Service Pension.
  14. Sorry you seem confused mate. i was asking for the evidence from the poster in which he/she intimated that the provisions of the LTR Visa relating to taxation were being changed. Nothing about the percentage Thais who pay tax. I occasionally read the pinned tax thread and think Mike Lister did an excellent job - but even as Mike Lister noted those notes relate very little if at all to LTR Visa holders. Again if you or the original poster has information about changes to the LTR Visa scheme I’d be obliged if you could post a link. Many thanks in advance.
  15. And where did you read this? Please provide the link as other posters do. Many thanks in advance.
  16. Yeah. Would prefer a better service. Buts it’s not Jetstar Asia with tiny seats. They will use a 787 Dreamliner - but agree Jetstar ain’t the best. Bet hey it’s half the time if using another carrier.
  17. At bloody last - no stops in Singapore or Sydney - direct to BNE to see family.
  18. Some comments in the Publication that cannot be named today about the LTR. Government "crowing" about the scheme with over 4000 successful applicants. They want to try to attract more. There were a few "trouble makers" who I think didn't qualify for the LTR jumping on our thread a couple of weeks ago - trying to suggest that the "new" Government would do away with the LTR as it was closely tied to the previous Government. The opposite seems true. The more the merrier I say. Biggest group (791) is from the US then Russians, UK, China, Germany and France. Whilst Russians and Chinese are on the list I guess the LTR is even more safe 55555
  19. There was an earlier discussion about this with the BOI LTR People saying in essence that any funds remitted after you get your LTR are exempt whilst Royal Decree 743 seems to state earned in the previous year. I am being careful and only remitting savings from last and previous years (I have my Australian Bank Balances as at 31.12.23 to show) and my pension income which is tax free via the Australian Thai DTA (I receive a Government Service Pension). It will be interesting next year to see how this pans out. I read the Thai RD is being flooded with fake income and tax certificates asking for refunds. How they will handle the complexities of DTAs etc will be hard to fathom.
  20. Misty if I am correct the LTR HSP is brilliant for those who earn a good income in Thailand and don’t need to remit large sums from abroad, whilst the other LTRs are for we who don’t work in Thailand and rely on Foreign Sourced funds for our yearly expenses.
  21. Thank you. I will have a look and see if I can find a statement. Much appreciated.
  22. Hi James I never had to lodge my Tax Returns but gave them my last two Pension Statements (I get paid fortnightly). I was however in the first "wave" of applicants so I am unsure if this has changed. I never used an agent but uploaded everything online - its quite easy to follow. Could I suggest you email the BOI direct or even better if you live in Bangkok go to Chamchuri Square and have a chat to the staff - they are extremely helpful. Sorry i couldn't help more but good luck with your application.
