There are thousands of foreign criminals hiding throughout the country. Why such a big deal about this guy? Let the criminals rub out the criminals. There are at least four in my area. Are these guys for hire ?

I have reached a mature age and it is sort of sickening even to the majority of Thais, foreigners granddad dating a very young Thai girl . A pact you mean a large settlement payment so she will hang around. In most cases as soon as the money dries up or not enough she just moves onto the next victim. I understand the situation well as does my Thai girlfriend of many years. Lucky i do not have to make monthly payments to hire a woman. It is nothing more than renting by the month instead of by the hour or not. What you have is perhaps a cheaper monthly rental.

You seem to have a real hang-up about old guys and young Thai girls. I'd suggest it's none of your business. I'd also suggest you wait until you've reached a mature age before passing judgment on something you obviously don't understand.

A lot of the so-called old wheezers have made a pact with younger Thai women. The pact consists of the Thai woman taking care of the older man until he dies. In return, she gets financial support and also looked after in his will.

When you compare this with the Western-style approach of shoving unwanted relatives into nursing homes to rot, with extortionate fees to boot for indifferent care, I'll take the Thai-style version any time. And I'm more likely to die with a smile on my face.

As said I do not do bars or bar girls, or short time women. I am outgoing, and attractive but shy to come on to a woman the street, not knowing if that is her husband behind here? Married or single and how many Samee Nois.?

After the first hello, I can have a conversation with anyone, even dogs in the street. I did not come to Thailand solely for the purposes of having sex with Thai women, unlike so many other men.

Different eras perhaps. We're living in an age where even our fellow farangs will make viral videos about why Thai girls shouldn't date foreigners.

In 1991 I met a man from Yorkshire, had a Thai wife, and had bought a house in an Isaan village.
He went back to work and returned 6 months later. When he got to his house, his key would not fit, and hearing the noise from inside, the door was opened by a Thai man. It turned out that the Thai man had bought the house from the man's wife in his absence !
Now in those days the internet was very rare, and nowhere near as advanced as it is now. However, word of mouth in those days was everything, and word soon got round that the 'farang had been scammed' with no recourse. It was then that I learnt how devious some, and I stress some, not all, Thai women can be.
So it is not unreasonable, if somebody has been burnt, to share his bad experiences with others, either by going viral, or whichever way he chooses ?

Not sure if you read my post correctly. It was a reference to a foreigner who recently made a short video in Thai about why foreigners are not all they're cracked up to be and Thai women should not be thinking about us for relationships. Then it went somewhat viral. And the general reaction amongst Thais was "See, this is what we've been quietly saying to ourselves for years."

Anyway, sorry to hear about that other guy. But stories like that are pretty much the reason why I'm very hesitant to trust girls from northeast Thailand. Too many of em grew up seeing and hearing stories about stuff like that, and generally know foreigners to be naive ATMs.

in most islands the islanders seem to think the roads belong to them and bored they are they find driving fast a release from frustration.

I used to drive in Samui and once I got caught nearly deadly I decided 10 years ago to stop and to reduce my times spent on Samui never knowing if it was paradise or hell.

I avoid koh Tao at all costs as well as Koh Phang Ghan......

The absolute majority on Samui roads are not islanders. Box jelly fishes were always there. Don't like jet skies ether, but compared to other places it's harmless. Yes the traffic is horrible. Now there are so many cars here like never before. Wonder why so many, mostly western and middle eastern, tourists drive their rented bikes like the devil is after them. Because they are young and on holidays. It could be, that Samui is the beach destination with most young, international tourists in Thailand, maybe in all of SEA?

You could not pay me enough to visit there or live there. I consider it the most dangerous place in Thailand to drive and overall the second most dangerous place in Thailand to live. Please someone explain why Samui or Surat Province for that matter is so wonderful. if the police ever did their job they would be rich beyond belief. Guess they have not figured that out yet. The island prison is not big enough for all the criminals both Thai and foreign living there.

If the police ever did their job and handed out tickets and arrested people they would be rich beyond belief, ninety percent would be taken off the streets and the jails and prisons would be over flowing.The majority of drivers including some foreigners would never be allowed to drive in many countries. As far as parking in the middle of the road it is not only dangerous for others it is just plain stupid and SELFISH!

The government makes it easy for them. Why do you think there are thousands hiding here already ? Besides cheap booze and women. KFC, McDonald's , Burger King , and 7-11. A criminals heaven on Earth.

If you looking in a tourist area your wasting your time. The majority of good Thai women have the impression that most foreign men are either, drunks, slobs by the way they dress etc. So many before you have ruined it for what few good men are here. Speaking Thai changes everything. Unlike most foreigners who never bother to learn date and often marry Thai women from the bars or massage shops. Ever wonder why you hear of the thousands of she did me wrong stories and men killing themselves off? Also the foreign men you might be hanging around might be part of the problem. Met my girlfriend years ago and at the time she barely spoke English, did not dress nor act like a bar girl and her friends were the same. Been together going on sixteen years. You sound like a nice guy better than most i have seen on the streets . No reason you should not be able to find a good woman.

Foreigners will look for any excuse to do as the please. I guess this includes drunk driving, using drugs, no passport no valid visa, drunk in public, dressing like a slob at government offices and in public, walking around in public areas half naked, showing off your young bar girl young enough to be your grand daughter, having sex with underage kids, robbing banks, never bothering to learn the most simple words in Thai like thank you (i guess finger pointing is your language), walking with beer in hand in public before the sun rises, Any more excuses i may have forgotten?

Well let's go to Thailand, where we, the up ourselves westerners, can do want we want, when we want and how dare you enforce the law of the land upon us. I have been to Central Park, New York, Hyde Park, Sydney, London's Hyde Park and never seen anyone sunbaking in a bikini. But I bet there are some on here who will tell they have. Admittedly, these are not on a tropical island but I would have thought there are enough beaches on Phuket to cover the neeeds of any sunbathers. I thought a beach, beside a pool or in one's backyard would present sufficients areas to sunbath but no, we must go to a park that is not designated for such activities.

And no, I am not offended by their antics but there would be many Thais who would be and as if we farangs do not have enough problems here because of other farangs doing what they believe they can, where and when they can, all with impunity. Who cares if it's 2015 and a tropical climate, what gives these tossers the right to do as they please, when where they please. I'd say that one would have to have concerns as to their level of upbringing and the lack of pride they appear to have for themselves.

Oh,that's right, it's Thailand isn't it, a 3rd world country, full of corruption, home to the sex trade, what a lot of inane comments to condone what these disrespectful types get up to. Good on the cops, and as far as those who criticise owing to the reasons offered by them, well I would say that the cops' actions were quite reasonable. Now given, not only here in Thailand but world wide, the types of sexual deviates that are loose in society, what would you lot say if the headlines read. "Three bikini clad females sexually attacked whilst sunbaking in Park." I can hear your hew and cries now. But it didn't happen because a couple of cops did their job.

You know, it amazes me that no matter what, even if the cops or anyone else for that matter, try to do something that might prevent an incident, there are so many of here that want to decry their actions and proffer inane objections for them doing so, They just can't win, can they?

I really believe the Embassies have more responsibility for their citizens and have to find a way to assist. All the Western Embassies in Thailand could pool their money and establish a 24 hour help line to assist people in trouble, depressed or suicidal. Countries have funds for war; security and spying- why can't they help their own citizens? We need to have some compassion. People don't exist in a vacuum. We are all part of the human race.

If all embassies start helping all the people in trouble, thousands of more riff raff might start washing up on the shores of thailand to spend their last dollar on booze and women. Then call the helpline.

Agree no Thai is holding a gun to your head. You in the end are responsible for your own screw ups stop blaming the Thais. Lack of research , zero common sense, substance abuse, and listening to bad advice from other totally lost foreigners, reading travel books who's bottom line is making money and can care less about you. Toss the book in the trash and grow a brain. Been here over 15 years . Guess what ? Very few problems with the Thais. It tends to be the foreigners who make my skin crawl who i avoid like a bad rash.

Unfortunately this happens to often. To many foreigners are falling in love and taken advantage off by their girl or boy friends. It's a beautiful country with opportunities to find partner, for a very few it comes with a high cost. It's sad every time this happens.

I have watched the shows and after about 15 minutes i can,t watch any more, already understand the problem. Zero common sense. They should have never been allowed to board the plane.

These stories are always tragic, God knows how depressed someone has to be to do this, especially at an airport, such a public place.

i'm not defending the British Embassy since Im American and have no knowledge of them, but doesn't his family bear as much if not more responsibility than some strangers in an embassy.

If it was just the cost of an plane ticket surely their must have been some family member who could have helped?

The BBC series filmed at Suvanabhumi and also the recent Australian Embassy series both showed some very disturbed or very drunk people at the airport. People just turned up with ticketing problems or unable to pay for their flight home. Even the sober ones had trouble finding someone to pay for their ticket. People on those shows did some very silly things and made you wonder how they even made it to Thailand in the first place. Anyone who hasn't seen the shows should, if only to understand what staff at the airport and embassies sometimes have to deal with.

Correct most have zero common sense . Should never be allowed to board the plane. Thailand will chew you up and spit you out if you are unable to pass the foreigner IQ test. Many that are living here in La La land sadly they don,t understand it is only a matter of time.

The tragedy of Thailand is that a lot of people who should not go to the convenience store at the end of their block wirhout adult supervision, hear the hype and think this place is disneyland for 'groan ups' and it's all great fun until it goes wrong, and then this place is your judge jury and executioner, sometimes literally. Don't blame Thailand don't blame your government and don't come here unless you've actually taken at least one iq test in your life, and have understood your score.

A 35 year old doesnt become so depressed that he commits suicide because he cant afford a lousy airline ticket.

You could not pay me enough to go there and more so to ever want to live there for numerous reasons. Have witnessed at least four foreigners getting killed within a two week period. Likely drunk. Not too smart.
