Another overreach i see here is the belief the the Chinese investor will save the day.
1. HK Chinese with money have already applied to UK, US and Oz. They most certainly not willingly choose to relo their families to a vassal of PRC and a failed state with totalitarian government. Even the best universities here are marginal on world stage. Their children will need to be abroad.
2. Whether its digital currency or social credit scheme China will continue to monitor its lumpen proletariat. Expect only better, stricter methods to control funds outflows.
3. Covid-19. This is being horribly managed by Thailand. I don't ever see any return to normalcy but would imagine if vaccine arrives in May 2022 perhaps Jan 2023 might be a crack of light in the mire.
4. Covid-19 part deux - the corruption is in place. A vertible industry built on everything from bureaucratic mandates, covid exams, insurance, coe, approvals, ASQ, wearing masks despite being double vaccinated. Wealthy people need, want to travel.
5. Chinese would readily run from PRC but without citizenship they're just gypsies. The article alluded to housing estates and enclaves - this the Chinese will go for as have been established in Philippines, Malaysia and Cambodia. This will do thailand zero good as they will end run everything and keep the money and wealth circulating only in their communities.
6. Chinese like a holiday in the sun but they're cold weather people. Samui, Phuket, etc not appealing and no money to be made there as business and mafia all tied up locally.
Ah you forget the most appealing aspect as far as a Chinese business man is concerned.
Its the wife.
He can buy property or a condo and set up his girlfriend in there to look after it then he visits at the weekend in order to do business here in Thailand.
Wife will never know.
If he was trying to do the same in China he runs the risk of being seen or indeed the wife wanting to come with him.

A skirmish between S E A neighbours over economic zone incursions is immaterial to the recipients of diminishing product such as seafood but is of extreme economic concern to the nationality that is constantly required to defend it due to the subversive tactics of the purchaser in obligating trade in weaponry !
It would only be in a situation of denial to continue such trade due to a challenging aspirant total dominator that could be likely to invoke invasion in the name of protection.
You would apparently prefer Thailand or others to totally concede to dependency on the 7th Fleet.
Not Russian? Not Chinese? Perhaps an investigation as to true historical "interventions" in South East Asia could give genuine doubt as to the wisdom of that proposal !
You need to find better language translation software because that is just word salad.
It probably sounded good in Mandarin but in English not so much.

Expect the curfew to be extended to 24 hours a day in the areas where this has been happening.

Guy I used to work with had a vasectomy. After a couple of days his sack swelled up like a grapefruit.
Went to the hospital and the doctor took one look and said "Right we better get the swelling down on that".
My friend looked at him and honestly said "Can you not just make the rest of it match?".

Someone skipped their lithium pill.
Never see this girl again.
But make no mistake this will not be the end of it. Expect her to offer money to anyone who will hurt you.

No link - I got a couple of emails from the FCDO/Embasssy earlier today and I think it was mentioned in one. I've deleted them though.
ETA: rbkk has just made a post above while I was typing and Bang Sue on Sunday is mentioned in there. I may have mixed that up with Bang Sue also being the venue for this offering.
So the Bang Sue offer is a Thai initiative to people with a pink ID card over the age of 75.
So essentially there is no link between what the Canadian government is doing and whats on offer to UK citizens.

It's not. There's another thread advertising it to Aussies, and I think it was mentioned by the British Embasy too.
You would have a link to the British embassy vaccine procurement thing then?
Because I cant find it.

It depends what the priorities are.
If the priority was for the rich and powerful to amass more wealth and power then I would argue they have been highly successful.

My father was an engineer with ICI.......he went in one Monday morning to the engineering workshops to find a father and his two young sons dead inside a vessel.
The guy had popped into work on the Sunday, went into the vessel (it was on its side) and collapsed, his son went in and collapsed and then the other son saw what was happening and went in......tragic.
Was that at Huddersfield? I seem to remember in the dark and distant past seeing a training video about that.

And, of course, when restrictions lift and everything's open again it'll drop to 28.
And prices here in Thailand will double ????

Royal Thai Navy moves forward with proposal to purchase more submarines, dismisses criticism
in Thailand News

So, in your opinion, in what way would these submarines be tactically useful?
Gulf of Thailand is way too shallow for them to operate. No thermal layers to hide under and indeed from the air they can be physically seen.
And which enemy would they be protecting the country from?
