  1. I could explain it for you, but I can't understand it for you. Ever hear of NATO? Alliances? Partnerships? Mutual training exercises? Do the Brits have F22s, F35s? B52s? B1Bs? If they do who trains them?
  2. Thank you for continuing the battle against ignorance. This is not North Korea, China, or Russia. It is not the middle ages. But people like to hear themselves talk, and actually looking things up is too much work and spoils all the fun and all the drama. Cheers!
  3. At least he should have had insurance.
  4. Yeah, it does sound strange. But this is Thailand and anything can happen. Also, I've been around long enough to know that as far as human nature nothing would surprise me. This may very well be exactly as presented. But two things strike me. 1.) why does he have gold bars in the first place? What kind of transaction would involve gold bars? 2.) That's a huge amount of money to just leave out of sight. Maybe he's that careless but it seems extremely unlikely. Was it supposed to be a drug transaction and went bad? Smuggling? Money laundering?
  5. Perhaps he should be executed. Would that make you happy? Do you always blame the victim when there's a crime? He's guilty of nothing but carelessness. Have you ever been careless? Have you ever lost something?
  6. “Edward’s lawyer pointed to his turbulent school years as the root of his uncontrolled emotions.” Obviously the lawyer is going to use this tactic to mitigate guilt, but in the real world psychological problems do not start at school. Parsing out the roots of violent behavior is difficult and sometimes impossible because there are so many things that can cause it. The bottom line is the importance of getting kids into therapy while there is still time to intervene.
  7. So what ex so why do you guys even care? It doesn’t affect you. Why don’t you argue and speechify about Harry and William and ol’ Charlie?
  8. Methanol is made by the hydrogenation of carbon monoxide. It used to be made by fermenting wood alcohol, hence the name wood alcohol. Methanol by itself is not called methylated spirits. Methylated spirits is denatured ethyl alcohol, denatured by the addition of methyl alcohol. Rather than pure methanol, denatured alcohol can be used.
  9. Methanol doesn’t result from poor distillation. Yeast, grain, and sugar only produce ethanol. That is what you get from distillation of those fermentedbproducts.mMethanol is produced from wood. It can be bought cheaply and is no doubt added after the distillation process.
  10. Is there a school called Future Nut Jobs of Thailand? People like that don’t get “messages” or warnings. The laws didn’t seem to stop this guy, did they? Laws are for people smart enough to obey them.
  11. Saying that he was probably drunk is not a personal affront to his character. Intoxication is a leading cause of death from a variety of causes. That’s a fact. And it’s therefore not unreasonable to suspect intoxication as a possible factor. So nobody is “blaming foreigners”. And everybody knows that the infrastructure is 3rd world, nobody is discounting that. But everybody also knows that barriers are there for a reason, and nobody pushed him. Until a formal autopsy is performed no one will know for sure and people are entitled to speculate and they will do so.
  12. I’m all for death penalty to those who deserve it but There’s one good reason to stop it. There will inevitably be innocent people and the falsely accused put to death before they can prove their innocence. There have been dozens of people falsely accused, mostly black, executed in the US. Many others were exonerated just before their execution. In Southeast Asia, China, Russia, political prisoners are falsely accused and some executed.
  13. That’s a pretty crass remark, You don’t get out much, do you?
  14. The camera. Why do you ask? Is there a reason to doubt her credibility? There is undoubtedly plenty of video footage - have you seen it? The camera doesn’t lie. In law the credibility of the witness is taken into account by the courts and law enforcement. It is extremely unlikely that anyone would make something like this up and endure the inevitable fallout. The police can usually tell when someone is lying, that comes with the job. When they find him they will question him and hear his version. Then they will decide whether probable cause exists.
  15. The 999th reason not to get that drunk in Thailand. People just minding their own business generally don’t have any problems here. He probable won’t even remember what happened.
  16. That would be perfect. But if someone unfamiliar with the “business” encounters this and becomes upset, emotions dominate over rationality. You have to be careful where you “shop”. If someone is new to Thailand and hasn’t familiarized themselves with the country with information online then these things are more likely. I think he’s pretty aware now
  17. Isn't it nice to see some amusing news rather than hear all the sorrows of mankind?
  18. From a distance, yeah funny to look at, but yes they are ɑ$$h0Iels.
  19. Interesting point, I bet a lot of people haven’t considered that. Wonder if it means that stock brakes might be inadequately designed. Good to know, thanks.
  20. You can’t educate the uneducable.
  21. You'll have to bring the police a fatter brown envelope that the one they're already getting. Wait, instead, why not let the police make a commission on the fines for every conviction? Nahhh, too much like common sense.
  22. Of course - for those of us raised in a brothel - just like family
