You can do that with the Dot. I have mine connected to my Hi Fi with leads, but if you have a bluetooth stereo you don't need them. You can also ask Alexa any question, like what's the time in San Francisco, how many feet in a mile, who sang The Long and Winding Road, etc, etc, you get the picture.

The chromecast audio also connects to the hifi system but somehow it ruined my hifi set in 2 years time.

The dot also isn't a high power amplifier to which i can connect my speakers.

I searched a bit and think i need a Sonos system.....but those are not cheap and sure not in thailand i guess....will have a look in the mall soon.

I stand ready to accept that you are a national authority on the Thailand retail business, and will be happy to hold my hands up and admit my mistake.

I dont disagree that their are lots of malls or that more competition would be a good thing, but that does not distract from the fact Central Group generally know their business and one would presume have the market knowledge, advisors, professionals on all aspects of this to more often than not get their developments right.

Just because you think they are boring, or that they should have a Singaporean food court does not mean it would be successful.

Well my thai friend is the marketing manager of these malls, and he loves to hear my experiences from Singapore for example so he can implement it in Thailand. He's also keen to hear my frustrations in said malls so he can improve it.

So you think guys like him know their business very well? Honestly i don't understand why they hired him but probably because of his resume which is outstanding. He hasn't been abroad often though and also has never been in the position to buy whatever he likes...

In Central Embassy it's hard to find english speaking staff, also many are arrogant...especially the ones who sell very expensive items...When i walk in an expensive shop and the sales comes to me immediately to ask how he can hell me i'm done already.

It seems they still don't understand that customers want to look first before listening to his salestalk. It was the same in Europe 25 years ago but that all changed.

Have you never been followed by Thai sales while you're just looking in a shop out of interest? Homepro is a great example for that but they also do it in more upscale shops like in Embassy. How come those salespersons think i need their help to buy a poloshirt or a towell?? They even don't give me time to look around...

That's where singapore is so much better, they won't annoy their customers and if you ask them something they really give you the answer in perfect english...

I have an Alexa Echo Dot for music, can access thousands of radio stations with a choice of any music genre you want.

I googled it, looks nice but i need more power because i want to connect many speakers which are all over the house.

Now i 'm looking for a new amplifier with audiocast function....don't need any speakers with that...any tips are welcome.

Did it ever cross Yinn's mind that not all the people want the same?

Some people like nice and clean nature.

Some people like to party in Pattaya.

Some people like mountains and don't care about the beach.

Some people travel with their kids.

Some people don't travel with their kids and don't want to see any annoying brats.

Some like the beach but want to smoke there and be in the shade...

Some like the beach but only when there are lifeguards and police (who speak english and we can trust).

Some people book expensive resorts and expect the staff to speak decent english and have standards.

Well the list is endless....it's all about thailand being too expensive now and having low standards.

It's the only way the majority of Thais can afford something with a "logo" on it... they except the "B" choice as their only alternative.

I remember a friend buying a "branded" handbag for little money.. I said you know it's a copy right?

She replied yes of course I know  but it's a good copy, and walked around as happy as if it was the real thing !

Last year my wife and me travelled around in Europe...in Italy the staff grabbed her 'samsonite' suitcase from a truck and it broke in 2 pieces haha....

They were very ashamed and immediatly offered her a new suitcase, samsonite again but this time a real one.

My wife was nervous because she knew her suitcase was a fake....

But she got a brand new one, latest model for free.

Imagine how long it would take to catch up to Marina Bay Sands...

That's where my wife loves to shop for LV and so.....The staff is very polite to her, not like those arrogant salesgirls in the Thai LV shops is what she said. I've seen Asians in there who bought several of those purses in 5 minutes...

The high standards are not only inside this mall, also outside they have free water/light shows, an aboretum, flower dome, electric tourboats, no streetvendors/soidogs.....everything is perfect and we're happy to pay extra for that.

Not all shopping malls are successful anywhere, i think its fair to say that walking through Central Embassy it has missed its target, but whether they are profitable or not i have no idea. I would however in general trust the Central Group to more often than not make a success of their developments and i am pretty sure they have more knowledge on the market than Fruitman from the internet, even if they dont have a 100% success rate.

Wow, without know anything about me you can already conclude that Central knows best? Do you park your high horse in the parking lot??

BKK has more than enough Central malls, it's time for more competition in my opinion. They all have the same shops, so boring.

I am sure the owners of the land assessed the most viable development before building...... I expect their is a food court in there. If a Singapore style one would be commercially successful i am sure someone would do one...

Well do you think central embassy makes any profit? It should be much more busy me thinks...

But for us we go to the mall where we want to eat....lately it was the Central World buffet restaurant for 600 baht a person.

The Singapore style foodcourts have a higher quality than the Thai ones, yes they also cost more but it's worth it. Indonesian/Malaysian food is what we miss in BKK.

    Good point.

Google the name George Soros...he's a billionaire who got rich by hedging currencies....and there are many more very large hedgefunds who play this game...they join together and put billions of $ on their gamble...they did the same against the euro.

Profits can be extraordinary...and if those guys also have large amounts of bahts and start dumping them all together it can go down really fast.

Currency trading is just a game and these days anyone can do it at home online 24hr...

Why would US hedge fund managers care about the Baht? LOL

To make big big money out of it...if you now buy cfd's long for 1 billion us$ that can make a huge profit cause cfd's use a multiplier.

If you were a Thai billionaire and read that the baht will go down, would you just sit out the ride down or do something??

Big chance the baht can go down by 20-50% or even more..if you get the multiplier on that, times 10 or 20 or even 50 you can easy get rich...the only problem is when the baht strengthens more.....then the multiplier works against you.

  12. I remember that US-hedgefunds were all joining together against the euro, they all went long in the dollar...and it worked, the euro went down...it was a few years ago.

Now why are they not playing with the baht? Or why are the Thai billionaires not all buying long in the baht because there's not much space left for it to strengthen...much more room on the weak side of the baht me thinks.

And if big money like that is buying long there's a higher chance it will go and they 'll make a load of money.....

Or is it impossible for them to buy long/short in the Thai baht since the market is protected? In that case they could swap bahts for euro/usdollar....Or will the billionaires now wait patiently for the baht to go down and loose a lot of their fortune??
