Did a TM30 update at Promenada on Thursday. No waiting, no line, took 2 minutes.

(Last time it took two hours). Only problem I can't have any bits of paper stapled to my passport but they did it anyway..after I asked them politely not to.  "Sorry".

 

 

Entered a large pub at 23:00. Lively with people eating and watching a band, near Lat Krabang (Suwannaphum area).

After waiting 40 minutes and being told, it's coming, it's coming a girl came to say they were out of what I ordered. So I ordered some fried rice.

She came back to say Kitchen now closed....Everywhere nearby closed also so I ended up in 7/11 buying a bad of Potato chips.

Only in Thailand.

 

 

 

 

I downloaded the Android Firefox app to the Chromebook in question 

 

Now I can access the website. Kind of a hassle but works.

There was a Singha sponsored beer garden and concert couple months ago in Chiang Mai.

They had "Copper" on Tap available, but it had sold out so I don't know if  it is any good.

I own my own condo but I am at Promenada almost every month when I return from work abroad.

 

From what I understand once you pay your fine and register a TM30 signed by the landlord a renter can do “updates” on their own to the same address. Notification is required within 24 hours of returning to Thailand but there is a 7 day grace period.

 

 

 

I have not done it yet but The place I use went underground. You have to request on LINE meet somewhere to get the dics, then drop off at a Beauty shop.
Why? They carry r-rated western movies, great selection. Can’t afford to be raided.

Never good idea to overstay, even a few days. How many hundreds were rounded in Phuket lately? I can speak for Chiang Mai when foreigners drive a motorbike around town center in high season you could be stopped by police three times a day. (Ok don’t ride a motorbike, are you going to hole up in a guesthouse then, in recent years coworking spaces and bars also got raided). If caught in overstay you will have major problems. If you get an overstay stamp in you passport other countries you may apply for a visa might reject you.

Every mom and pop shack in Thailand sells loose cigarettes and last time I went by one near me tuk tuk drivers and police were drinking at 3PM.

Beachgoers on the way to the sea will breath in clouds of diesel exhausts

and pass huge piles of garbage in vacant lots,  to find more trash and wastes on the beach.

 

100,000 Baht for a puff of smoke? I don't smoke or vape but it is too much to ask for a completely smoke free outdoor environment when other much more serious violations are not even addressed.

 

 

Often see dried rat urine on top of soda/beer cans.

In these cases I may contact the relevant senior Director, sending a letter via courier to head Office so at least it gets read. About 12 years ago I went to look at a Toyota in Orange County, California. Some saleman came out and almost immediately wanted a phone number. I told him I was “just looking today” however I would like a RAV-4 brochure. He then proceeded to follow me around at arms length as I looked at cars in the lot at an unnatural proximity. I asked him if he had to stand so close to me? He said if he didn’t he would “get into trouble”. I then let this pervert trail me inside for the brochure where I was shown a computer and told they were “out” of brouchures so I had to order one online. Again the form asking for all my details so I rolled my eyes and left.

 

At the door I was blocked by a large frowning salesman with a suit and mustache loking like some kind of a Mafia bodyguard with crossed arms without the slightest smile of courtesy. “Is there a problem sir? What would we need to do to get you into a new car today?”

 

Well they got my personal details alright. I sent a letter to the President of Toyota North America (FEDEX) detailing this situation and got an apology! Then sombody from the dealership sent me a partially hostile email asking “what I wanted from them?” These animals actually think they can intimidate people out of their money with thug tactics.

 

Ended up with a Honda CR-V from an online broker, You get the best price available in the area and go in with a sales order. Of course they try to upsell you on some overpriced options and other ripoffs but you tell them to get stuffed or you are leaving. Watch them cry boo-hoo.

 

Car salesmen are completely useless parasites in this day and age. Other than the maintenance guys they should just have pretty girls to take your money and hand you the keys.

 

In Thailand I have given my email and mobile so may times for point cards it is silly. What do I get but nuisance SMS messages daily, Thai emails I can’t read. Bought tiles from COTTO they must email me weekly though I have unsubscribed many times. AIS robocalls me, I not to answer any calls I don’t know most friends use SNSs anyway.

 

Total waste of marketing never convince me to buy anything.

 

Recently I saw a facebook post from a African American college girl, backpacker type. She said she was stopped 2 or 3 times a day in Bangkok but as soon as the cops found out she was American they lost interest and treated her politely. They are cracking down on Africans.

Most airlines lease aircraft, they are backed by investors. A310s were cutting edge in 1983, now they are basically obsolete. None have been delivered new since 1998 according to wikipedia even though Iran Air had an official order on the books until 2008, they were not produced.

The few airlines that still operate them likely own fully so the costs are maintenence and fuel. Even FEDEX still flies a few, really think it costs them $80 dollars to send a letter? It fits into their cost structure only as new aircraft are so costly.Eventually the white elephant of DMK will be scrapped, somebody may want the usable parts but no way DMK airport is to get the parking fees. Typical myopic thinking eventually they will have to pay to have somebody dragg the hulk away to make Singha beer cans.

I looked this one up when it was news before. This A310 is an inefficient older model. Only operated in certain markets like Iran/South America and the mullahs are getting a giant new aircraft orders thanks to Obama.

Even if the bid cost is nothing they are scrap value, nobody will pay the parking fees. DMK airport needs to write this one off, maybe turn it into a restaurant.

Although it perhaps doesn't state it, the PE (I believe they are not longer referred to as TE) visa is in reality a long stay tourist visa, as, apart from the year long entries and extensions, it is the same as a tourist visa, i.e. it isn't a non-immigrant type, so you cannot work here whilst holding this visa for example.
Although, it should still be perfectly possible to get a yellow book, open a bank account, buy a vehicle and get a 2 year driving license as a PE visa holder.

They don’t call it a tourist visa but PE visa is not, a non-immigrant visa, then by default it is a long-stay tourist visa.

3 years ago in Chiang Mai the transport office issued me 2 year drivers licenses, but said they would not issue the 5 year upon renewal. Well this year they DID issue me 5 year licenses and supposedly did for other Thailand Elite members. I was told amphur muang Chiangmai will not issue me a yellow book for the condo I own but I might try again.

When a foreigner inherits a condo it must be sold in one year. If the intent is to have a surviving spouse stay owning the unit there are two choices. One, purchase and register the chanote/title in joint ownership. Two, purchase the condo from the deceased spouses estate. The land office will require proof the money to came from outside of Thailand to do the title transfer.

The land a condo sits on is owned by the juristic person, thus the 49% ownership cap as Thai land cannot be foreign owned. Ground floor shops in condos are leased to renters by the juristic person.

Here in Richmond, Virginia (USA), there were a couple of recent shootings where some guys rode around on scooters and shot people with paintball guns.  One guy they shot really good in the face!  It was ugly. Don't just tag the guy in the gut, shoot for the face.  Holy crap!
 

Shoot for the face. That is what the bad behaved ones (always a Farang) do in Chaing Mai during Songkhran. Or shoot you straight in the ear while you walk by.

There is no good reason to shift a modern automatic transmission into Neutral while moving, it even deactivates your stability control if you have it. I know one lady who shifts her Mazda minivan into N everytime she decelerates. Won’t listen. She also won’t believe keeping the equivalent of the entire contents of a small home garage in the car has an effect on fuel economy.

“OK your’re right but never letting you drive my vehicle”.
