  1. I live in Banphai and was without water for 3 days due to the flooding of a water pumping station many kilometres away. The weather forecast for this area always seems to be very unreliable, missed days drying laundry because it didn't rain when the forecast was for rain most of the day and vice versa. Two years ago this area flooded for the first time in 50 years. Guess it's back to wetting a finger and putting it in the air ... My sympathy goes out to all those suffering at this time.
  2. Thanks Stocky, I have tried downloading but it doesnt download, have to find QR code online and point my phone at my laptop. Never had this issue before, its similar to that with LINE except with LINE I dont need to go to the internet just point phone at laptop
  3. Ah ! the Magic Bus of Ken Kesey and the Merry Band of Pranksters
  4. Yes a container home is expensive, however the land I am looking at does flood sometimes and there there is an opportunity to "move house" to another area should the need arise.
  5. Many thanks for the different types of "home", no not a Winnebago, have seen knockdown houses locally.
  6. Mobile home / house, not motor home. I know they have modified containers and there is a company here with UK expat who makes / is about to make a towable house, just wondered what if anything was available / tried and tested. I have a place in mind to "park" the house with and escape rod if there were flooding. Note I have worked lived here for more than 20 years.
  7. Anyone have experience of living in one of these in Thailand ?
  8. I have ( had ) Whatsapp and LINE on both android phone and my Windows laptop. Whatsapp I use for UK and have been using for a few years. I have LINE on both phone and laptop. I normally use laptop as is easier for me to type. Yesterday 6th October both working fine, this morning Thurs 7th Oct Whatsapp is not working on laptop but is fine on phone. When I go to the Whatsapp web site I try to download again but it doesn't work. Any ideas ?
  9. An excellent point about keeping suitcase closed; if possible place it on the table in the room not on the floor or in the wardrobe.
  10. I live outside a small market town south of Khon Kaen. Following a stroke 5 years ago with complications ( almost total muscle loss ) once back to normal 3 months later I started road and exercise park walking at 4am, normally around 10km. Again in the evening in the park, about 5km. I am now, unfortunately only able to walk 2 - 5km due to being unable to replace muscle I loose during day to day activities. I do do yoga floor exercises and general exercise at my home twice a day, with about one hour each evening walking a friends dogs. Although from UK most of my working life, farming, has been in hot climates e.g. Middle East ( 50C in summer ), South America, Asia, Australia so I am used to hot / humid climates. This season hot humid windless air makes breathing difficult. Ensure you keep cool, drink plenty of water, consider changes to your diet including things like coffee. Don't keep your accommodation too cool, wear cotton clothes, cotton blankets. Do see your doctor. Take care.
  11. ok thanks I am aware of this, I am not married to a Thai nor in a relationship with a Thai and I don't have a fixed account, my visa 800k is in a savings deposit account as is my general use account.
  12. Please listen to Sheryl. I had a sudden stroke over 4 years ago. I was found on the floor of my house nearly 3 days after collapsing face down on the bathroom floor unable to move. The hospital got me up and running after 2 weeks ( to some extent ), have multiple drug allergies. I use alternative treatments such as colon detox I am aware of at least one mini stroke since that time. My vegan diet has always been good, I do simple yoga and other exercises, don't smoke / drink. Find a real doctor who can help and advise you with sensible information.
  13. Ideally a safe is ok but that doesn't help one with proof of 800K needed for visa
  14. OP - "If I know in advance ... " I've been close three times, for different reasons and, as I have a DNR that makes it closer still.
  15. In Bangkok there is the Indian Hut restaurant, took some Thai people there I worked with some 15 years ago, unfortunately despite coming from a duck producing company they didn't like the food. For me it was excellent.
  16. Having been close to the long sleep but fortunately still alive I am wondering about the following:- I already drew up my Will some years ago and have a DNR for many years. Question ? On death or following day Is it possible to have some one to withdraw all ( almost all ) of the funds in my bank accounts by online banking so that they can be used here and balance sent to family in UK. ??? i.e not restricted to withdrawing only limited daily amounts every day for sometime.
  17. I was fortunate enough to be young in the sixties and went on the hippie trail to India twice, once from Australia and then a return trip a year later, I also visited, stayed with "pen friends" that I made before my trip and new friends that I made during the first visit. On the motorway from Bangkok to Chonburi there is a big pit stop, there is an Indian restaurant there that sold lassie.
  18. I recently found the following listed folder at the start of my laptop E folder, it appears to be empty and I cannot delete it. The next folder down from it is a 3BB speed test. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it, note I have limited knowledge regarding laptop issues ? E:\,H4AkV4_!hm+7588~FWvdbMNb4,{}kb
  19. With rips "Go with the flow" is generally the best idea but sometimes... Got caught in a rip in Sydney back in the late 60's, I followed the flow and it dumped me on an underwater sandbar, every time I stood up I got dumped back on sand bar again, couldn't get off, luckily the life savers managed to get me away ( all hats off to these people wherever they are ). Spent a few days in hospital with skin loss, bruising and water in my lungs. Just wish the tourists here for a swim took more notice of eating / drinking before their swim and listen to the life guards - if any.
