Thanks for that, but i was replying to the person who posted the font, he had renamed it ARIAL, (note the capital letters to differentiate).

The font i have working on my laptop is arialuni.

I will try your font tommorow, thank you

Keep in mind you need to create a folder "Fonts" in the media folder and paste the font in that folder you just created.

I also tried the ArialUni font, and the file I have is much larger actually than the one posted here (23Mb), but it worked only certain Thai subtitles where the AD-TT-Garuda works on all Thai subtitles regardless how they are coded.

I downloaded your attachment to a usb stick. I then followed your procedure exactly. When I looked in the fonts folder i had pasted all that was there was the ARIAL.TTF font. I am running kodi 16.1

This is so frustrating because as i said i have got it working on my laptop so i have double checked all the settings against that. The only thing different is on my laptop i have three choices of fonts but on my box only two.

Arial.ttf is available in the standard Kodi installation and does not support Thai fonts.

The one you need is AD-TT Garuda Regular

Create a folder named Fonts in the Kodi>Media folder, then copy and paste  the ttached file into it. Next open Kodi and in System>video> subtitles select AD-TT Garuda reguler.ttf

    AD-TT-Garuda-Regular.ttf

    removed or replaced, = gone

Are you really that stubborn or do you have reading incompatibilities?

June 16 when the terms of Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome and the 24-member legislative panel expires.

Gen. Anupong Paojinda said the military regime will name 12 new council members to manage the city’s 1.7-billion-baht budget, as no local – or any other type of – elections are allowed under the junta.

When the Jubta is gone and elections are allowed again, he will be elected back in the position of Pattaya Mayor.

No not the storm, crap work standards. See these poles leaning all over the place,In Thailand. Accidents waiting to happen.!

They replaced a high voltage pole opposite my place some time ago. The pole in question is 12 meter long, and they dropped it less than 1 meter in the ground, without pouring any concrete around, or placing tension cables.

The first time it rained it leaned over dangerously, they came back and dropped a piece of the old pole that was still laying around in the same hole.

The Interior Ministry will appoint an entirely new city council to take over June 16 when the terms of Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome and the 24-member legislative panel expires

Itthiphol and nearly the entire 24-member council were elected to a second four-year term on June 17, 2012.

there is no doubt that Pattaya has been run into the ground, probably one of those things we arent supposed to talk about here, but one good thing about the army intervention is that the family that was running Pattaya for their own personal profit have been removed. the army will be no better but hopefully Pattaya can get a fresh start soon. I realize SE Asia has its problems but Pattaya was in a class of its own

Nobody has been removed from Cityhall. The tenure of the mayor ended and elections are suspended till after the general election, same as in every other city in Thailand

Can't explain the higher speed to Singapore vs Bangkok, but...

There is another long thread here somewhere about using a VPN via Singapore to help get faster speeds to/from overseas locations.  I investigated and ended up subscribing to PureVPN and using their Singapore location.  My downloads to/from the USA went from about 10Mbps without VPN to 20-25Mbps using VPN on my 30/3 True DOCSIS (cable) internet plan. YMMV, but it makes me wonder how it might work for you.

I'm sure with a Singapore VPN I will be able to increase my speed to overseas servers, but it of course comes at an extra cost per month again, and if you don't need the internet for your work every Baht counts.

It is strange that my BTV connection has improved so much since yesterday, where Singapore gives a speed 50% higher as what I pay for the connection to Bangkok.

Last night at 10pm a new mystery unfolded. My 3BB connection improved significantly.

Below are the results from speed test to London server, using Ookla and Testmy.net, looks as if someone is fiddling with the Ookla results.

I did warn you four times.

YOU warned me, but look at post #12 and #24.

So who's comment should I value the most, 2 members with a VDSL connection, or the one without a VDSL connection?

  9. Now other than that my 3BB speed crap is, something happened to my BTV connection.

    I have a 10/1Mb connection with BTV.

Now look at my speedtest to Bangkok and Singapore.I get a higher speed to Singapore as to Bangkok. To London I also get easily 8Mb with testmy.net, but also over 11Mb with ookla.

    Someone can explain?

Yes, I have a 15 minute drive to my son's school. Your suggestion that if I drive "at a safe speed" for only a further 20 minutes or so, I will miraculously find myself south of Ban Chang?

BTW, what time did your boy get home from REPS?

No I didn't make ANY suggestion about how long it would take you to get in Banchang from Best school. Maybe you could take some reading classes while you are at Best school, but I think the real issue is that, as in every thread you get involved, you're looking for an argument because someone doesn't agree with YOUR opinion.

What I said in my previous post was that from NAJOMTIEN it should take not more than 30 minutes to get to Reps Banchang at a safe speed.

    Is Best school in Najomtien?

I also said that my son got picked up at 7am at Soi Khao Talo, because he was the last one to pick up, and it seems that it was plenty of time to get to the school at a safe speed.

The school bus left the school at 4pm, and I picked him up at Tesco South Pattaya before 5pm, as that was again the first stop for the bus he was on and they dropped of a few students at that location.

I hope that satisfies your hunger for an argument.

Now about your best of the best school Best Burapha.

The other day I had a word with one of the senior foreign teachers at my son's current school, Aksorn Soi Korpai.

The teacher told me that in his class they had some new students who had come over from Best Burapha, and it was a disaster as they couldn't control them, because at Best Burapha it seems there is no discipline or rules.

So my advise to the OP.

Best Burapha would in my opinion be the last school you are looking for.

  11. 3BB VDSL installed today.

Bangkok server 22 Mb about double my BTV speed.

UK server  2.7Mb  about half my BTV speed

Other overseas servers, including Singapore, are also half my 10/1Mb connection with BTV.

    Expensive lesson learned. Unusable

Needs the perspective of when class starts to really mean anything. Otherwise we can only assume the REPS drivers are dangerously fast (probably a given) or the Aksorn drivers are woefully slow (easy enough with the tunnel workings and buses).

Reality is we leave home in Nongplalai around 7:55 and son is at BEST Burapha 15-20 minutes before his 8:30 start of class. We are only about 8 or 9 km from the school as the crow drives.

If you leave at 7.55 and arrive 15 - 20 minutes before 8.30, then you drive about 15 minutes , not sure what your point is there.

It all depends where you are. I know at that time Reps had 3 buses to Pattaya, and since I lived in Khao Talo at that time he was one of the last to be picked up. As the OP lives in Na Jomtien, his boy would be the very last to be picked up. From Na Jomtien to REPS should not take more than 30 minutes at a safe speed.

At the press briefing yesterday, the Downing Street spokesman refused to answer the question "Will Article 50 be invoked during 2017?"

The only response he was prepared to give was that Article 50 would not be invoked during 2016. Apparently the PM is in Switzerland and unavailable for comment. Boris Johnson is the most senior politician in the UK at the moment but could not be located.

But isn't it so that even if they never invoke article 50, the EU will kick them out on the 24th of June 2018.

Thanks for the link, and it indeed says.

No need to pay medical expenses when being treated in a hospital which is a member of Bangkok Insurance’s network . You can check out the hospital network at www.bangkokinsurance.com

And I checked the list already, it contains every hospital I have ever heard of.

  15. Just now, Pib said:

Also, a person can not assume a hospital/clinic will accept the insurance.

There are more insurance companies where you just show your policy card to the hospital and everything is arranged between hospital and insurer.

But may be better we wait for someone who knows the product to comment, instead of all those guesstimates, without having any knowledge about the card in question.

  16. 3 minutes ago, Pib said:

How often does a person have an accident/injury needing to go to the hospital?   Fortunately, I can count on a couple of fingers how often it has happened to me over my lifetime.  Now going because I'm sick now that a different story...but that is not an accident/injury.  Be sure to read the fine print.   And you will probably find the person would need to file paperwork to claim reimbursement....I think the banks know most people won't even both to file a claim for such a small amount of up to Bt5,000.

I agree it's only for injury, not for sickness, but it is also only 500 Baht on top of the normal ATM fee.

As I said in the OP, no claims to be filed, just show the ATM card at the hospital and they clear everything with the insurance company directly.

  17. 12 minutes ago, Pib said:

All the banks push a variety of cards that come with some kind of insurance, usually personal insurance where if you happen to have a certain kind of accident you can get some coverage.  The cards make a nice profit for the banks.   And the bank branch may flatout lie to you and say that's the only card they have now, a foreigner must get this kind of card, etc.    Generally, they are not worth it....just go with the basic card which usually has a Bt200 to Bt300 annual fee with no insurance.

He had the policy read by his Thai gf, and it says all accidents and injuries, as well as victim of a criminal activity. So if it really covers 5000 Baht per case at any chosen hospital, without a limit on the amount of cases, then the 700 Baht would be well worth it.

In fact just one case a year would make it worth already.

I didn't say they claimed it is the only ATM card they offer, they offered it as a new product.

  18. I was just informed that Bangkok Bank has a new ATM card which has a personal accident insurance attached to it.

Price of the ATM card is 700 Baht, and it covers you up to 5000 Baht per case, at any hospital in the country, and unlimited cases.

The insurer is called something like bfirst smart rabbit siriraj. In case of accident you just have to show the card, and bill get arranged with insurer directly.

This is not a motorbike insurance, but personal accident, according to my friend.

Anyone can comment on the correctness of this?

Or he might be bored shitless and die in 9 years.

I cam to Thailand on Aug 10, 1985 with 1000 BGP. I spent it in 2 weeks and had to get a job. I'm still here.

Get on that plane mate, there is SO much one could do with 12 million baht. I wouldn't listen to the rich guys here. Time for Naam to come in and tell us that's how much he gives his gardener, butler and maid in a couple of years.

You spent in Thailand  1000 GBP in 2 weeks in 1985?
