Unfortunately acclimatizing (being able to handle) and optimum temperature for exercising are 2 different things. Your body operates at 37C, and when you're pushing weights or doing cardio in a room at or higher than 30C, you're not going to get a good workout, and in fact it's unhealthy to even try. Add to that high humidity and it's not going to be pleasant. People get pretend workouts, because they sweat a lot and feel that's makes for a good workout. Too many people judge a good workout by how much they sweat and not on their work output.

I've just been in there and the main room will NOT be air conditioned. They have one pedestal fan in there at the moment, and claim they will bring more. I was working up a sweat just walking around and looking at the equipment. Even the PR lady showing me around stood in front of the fan to cool down. I'd guess the room temperature was somewhere between 30 C and 31 C, and this is a cloudy day at midday.

They have one smaller area sealed off for air conditioning, but the main area and downstairs entrance area is not going to be air conditioned.

They have a surprisingly limited number of cardio machines. I counted 4 treadmills, 3 ellipticals and 4 bikes (2 recumbent, 2 upright) in the air conditioned room. The main gym (not air conditioned) had 5 treadmills, 4 ellipticals, 2 bikes and 1 rowing machine.

There's a huge number of weight machines thrown in there, in both areas. It's absolutely daunting - you won't know where to start and it will take many workouts to get up to speed. There are no internationally recognised brands of equipment, so you'll have to give them a go to see how well they function. I was surprised that most of these weight machines are plate loaded, which is a bit slow and clumsy for a public gym. All the equipment is painted pitch black, making the room feel dark and gloomy.

They have "play for free" (that's what they are calling it) from 3pm tomorrow afternoon (August 20) until August 31, so that will be a good chance for everyone to try out the equipment. Bring a couple of towels, if not to wipe your sweat, then to wipe down the sweat other people will leave on the benches as it's going to get very hot in there. The gym officially opens on September 2.

They don't seem to be offering a yearly membership at this stage: 1-time: 300, weekly - 1500,  3 months - 4000, 100 for member card. At least there's no long term commitment required. I think the 300 baht casual workout is good value. This could have the unintended negative consequence of having too many casual tourists in there taking up all of the equipment (and leaving pools of sweat). I've also found that some nationalities are quite difficult to share a gym with. Also, casual non-members don't usually respect the equipment to the same extent as members.

Overall I'm unimpressed due to the lack of air conditioning. I'd have to try out the equipment before I could comment on that. I won't be, so we'll have to leave that up to someone else. The number of cardio machines (11 in total) in the air conditioned area is going to be insufficient as everyone fights to get on the machines in this area.

I noticed there area opening windows along the wall in the air conditioned area, so I wouldn't be surprised if they turn off the air conditioning at night to save money.

I'd recommend waiting to see if Fitness First at Harbor Mall can do a better job.

4000 Baht for 3 months is 16000 Baht/year, for a non airconditioned gym with plate loaded machines. Good luck with that.

UOB gave me 1.91% for 12 months interest paid monthly. Branch on West side of 2nd Road about Soi 13/4. I think it was 3 million minimum though.  The other banks were offering very short terms like 4 months. Income tax withheld is not a problem. Get a statement from the bank at year end and get a refund. I think you have have to have over 300,000 in income before you pay tax. The people at the tax office have always been very helpful when it comes to filing.

One interesting aspect of getting monthly interest payments is if you cash out before the fixed deposit matures they will deduct gross interest paid from the principal amount meaning you still have to file a return to get the tax withheld.

How long ago was it that you started that fixed deposit?

The problem i have is i cannot get the choice of fonts to show in the subtitles menu, it just shows arial or teletext fonts.

I have re1installed kodi many times and after unistalling it it shows kodi helix ver 14 (although it will not open)

I have followed exactly the procedure you gave many times but the fonts dont show. If i power off the box when it restarts i cannot open kodi, thus having to re install it and go through the whole procedure again with the same results, so i am just going round in circles.

Now the interesting part, you asked what make the box was, well it just says "himedia" i dont remember the model number so i googled himedia and i think its h8. I came across a thread , himedia.ca. jarvis16, and it seems from that a lot of people have had trouble and there is a firmware upgrade to eliminate this.

The only thing with that is its close to the weekend and i like to watch the football and if i make any mistakes there will be no football!,

So i think i will leave it until monday and have a go then. If you have time would you care to look at the thread and give me your opinion please

    Many thanks

    Willie

It is not possible that when installing any kodi version it shows as a different version. If it shows as Kodi 14, that mean that version is somewhere on your box and you have to uninstall it first.

Go to Android>setting> apps and try to locate that app in any of the sections, then uninstall it from there.

Failing to find it in the apps, you will have to use Rootexplorer or ES Explorer to manually locate the folder and delete it.

Anothwer option is to install SPMC from Playstore, as it is a fork of Kodi ( actually the exact same thing) and they can operate next to each other on the same box.

For the media folder in SPMC you select com.sempermax.spmc instead of org.xbmc.kodi

You should download either SPMC(old) or the new version, but in the latter case you have to go to settings>appearance>skin and change the skin to confluence.

Thanks. I tried your font on my laptop, works fine and took just a couple of minutes to install and see it working. The android box, well, still no joy. I am going to have one more crack at it today and if its no good b#lls to it, it has started to take over my life lol.

My box is a couple of years old and when the new version of kodi is released i think i may struggle even more.

I even tried editing the xml file but it would not let me , so i think something is rooted to the box. I have tried clearing everything from the box as far as i could but there is an old version of kodi still there

What is the exact problem with your box?

    What box are you using.

Any Kodi installation can be removed by uninstalling in Android settings> apps.

It is not possible to have 2 version of kodi on one box, unless it is a minix and the other version is the minix modified xbmc, version

To copy and paste the fonts folder in to your .kodi>media folder you need Rootexplorer or ES Explorer, and have hiiden files enabled in the app. You can't do this with Android file explorer.

I'm nbot sure it makes a difference, but the folder should be named fonts, not FONTS or Fonts

Put the fonts folder with all te required fonts inside on a usb drive. Open Rootexplorer or ES Explorer and copy the fonts folder on your usb drive, then paste the folder into Root>sdcard>android>data>org.xbmc.kodi>files>.kodi>media

To edit an .xml file again you need one of the two apps mentioned above, then long press on the .xml file, and select open with text editor.

How did you come to the conclusion almost no websites are hosted in Thailand? Perhaps you meant hardly any sites that foreigners would be interested in, but there are a large number of sites hosted here... mostly using only the Thai language, of course.

Of course there are plenty of websites hosted in Thailand, but below are bandwidth figures for Thailand.

As you can see in 2014 the domestic bandwidth was almost double that of the international one, while in 2009, the3 domestic bandwidth was still 6 times as high as the international bandwidth. So guess where the websites are located that the Thai people increasingly visit.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_in_Thailand

As of November 2009, Thailand had a total international Internet bandwidth of 106,787 Mbit/s. Thailand domestic Internet bandwidth was significantly higher at 607,526 Mbit/s.[6]

You could always follow the link I posted yesterday morning and learn something rather than just engage in uninformed speculation.

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/936925-appeal-to-3bb-users/?page=2#comment-11056963

It explains exactly why you are getting strange readings, and why they are generally not relevant to real-life use anyway.

Yeah it's definitely me the uninformed, but better uninformed than illiterate, unless showing a 1 Mb download speed is considered inflating the result?

You may, or may not, have noticed that the speed test result came from the in your link praised test site TESTMY.NET website.

And lastly, how do you explain being able to stream LIVE HD content from an overseas server, if you are only getting 1Mbps download from overseas servers?

  9. Something is definitely not right with speed tests.

On 3BB I get at this time 1.2Mb to London and 2.3Mb to Singapore on Testmy.net with a 25Mb download package. On Ookla, which uses flash and probably multi channel, I get almost double that speed.I have done multiple tests on both test sites, so can say the result is what it is.

I start up Kodi and test a several free addons with live sports streams in HD, Mio Stadium, Sky sports and BT sports.

    They all stream without buffering.

We all know that none of those Kodi servers are in Thailand, but most are in UK or US, so you gonna tell me that with a supposed 1.2Mb connection to those countries I can stream Live content in HD?

    Now way Jose.

Nancy is not more important than any other member on this forum, but I value her average post about 10 times the best post ever of Soibiker.

While you're laying down your rules for posts on this thread did it occur to you to not make daft comments?  Locals normally do not wear caps or backpacks?  What?  Since when? Caps and backpacks are almost required items as far as a lot of Thais are concerned.

Of course they are not Thai, no Thai would ever perform any criminal activity. Only can be foreigners.

No, but neither have I seen an election where one of the candidates intimates that political assassination is an option, or spends his time coming up with puerile nicknames for his opponents,  or who talks about his penis size at rallies,  or...

Oh what's the point, it just goes in one ear and out of the other, doesn't it?

Some people think it's both normal and appropriate for a presidential candidate to act like a mental patient.

Puerile nicknames for politicians is a favorite pass time on Thaivisa, so everyone here should love Trump

VDSL is an extension of ADSL so if the former is available then the latter should be also, assuming that the ISP commercialises it at all.

I note that 3BB do not advertise their ADSL products any more and I see no mention of them on their website, yet they have not yet made any attempt to get me to cancel my 3BB ADSL in favour of their cheaper VDSL package.

Like you said that the ADSL offers higher overseas speeds, The VDSL could just be a sales trick to attract more customers with higher speeds. Over ADSL their highest speed offered in my area is 18.8Mb, while over VDSL they offer 50Mb.

Of course more customers means they have to reduce their overseas bandwidth per customer, because that is the one that is used for very connection and costs them money.

The Thai bandwidth they will never exceed because almost no websites are hosted in Thailand.

When I asked in the shop about ADSL she said it was available, but I had to wait on the recommendation of the technician, so I guess they offer it only to selected new customers anymore,

  14. Maybe some good news in the make. Tomorrow a technician from 3BB will visit to look at the speed issues, but the office has confirmed already that ADSL is also available in my location.

Sorry, I was commenting on your new 3BB getting mysteriously faster.

But if both are generally trending together, your daytime loading assumption is probably as good an explanation as your going to get.

My BTV connection shows approximate the same speed to overseas servers during the day as at night.

3BBhas during the day about half the speed from at night.

To Bangkok server both deliver maximum speed at all time

  16. 15 minutes ago, NanLaew said:

I recall with my earliest cable internet experiences in the US that it was common to see a steady improvement in speeds up to a point when they maxed out. If the line was unused and/or disconnected for any length of time (out of country/storm damage), the connection would be slower at the time of initial re-connection but again would increase back to normal over the next 3-5 days. A Warner Cable tech explained that the lines were 're-training' and this was a normal aspect of the technology (pre fiber optic) at that time. My dear dad also had a similar explanation from a BT tech when his ADSL connection was sluggish after an outage back in the UK.

My BTVconnection has never been unused, so that could not have been the cause, I say could because after the next day the speeds went back to more normal.

Regarding my 3BB connection. In the evening the speeds improve to about the same speed as BTV, so there must be a heavy load during the day in my direct artea.

It seems that the world need a new war soon and Muslims will be the winners.

@mtls2005 thank you. What are international speeds to e.g. Singapore. Can you use https://beta.speedtest.net (make sure it's the beta., the other is getting cheated by the ISPs through caching)?

Do you ever get the connection throttled on peak times?

Unforuntately I couldn't find any posts that mentioned the 3BB 100 Mbit Fiber offer (I searched for 3BB and try to read every post that looked promising :) ).

I don't need the Android TV Box or WiFi extender - just fiber + good router (or the possibility to use my own fiber compatible router).

@muratremix do you have any data to back this? Is the AIS 50/10 Fiber faster than the 3BB 100 Mbit Fiber?

    Thank you!

How do you test to Singapore with the beta speed test? I only can chose between Bangkok servers.
