  1. Michelle Obama was brilliant as was Elizabeth Warren. Bernie was nothing short of a Rock Star performance and bought the house down. Took about 5 minutes for the cheering to quieten down so Bernie could get a word in and then launched into what can only be described as a Kennedy-esque / 'I Have a Dream' performance. What a 'call to arms' for Democrats. Bernie sure has lit the flame of revolution that no amount of Republican fear mongering will extinguish. A liveable minimum wage, demise of Citizens United, an independent Supreme Court, investment in tuition free education, universal healthcare, government taking on the greed of big pharma, enshrining a woman's right to choose, protective rights for the minority LGBTQ community, uniting African Americans, Latino and all Americans no matter their race, creed or colour to join together and unite.

A celebration of hope and REAL prosperity for all Americans.

Finally something inspiring rather than the racism, hatred, bigotry and fear mongering of the Republican Party convention featuring Chachi.

After the email hacks I reckon Berniess speech should more have been in the line of I had a BAD dream, or even more to the point, I had a WET dream when I started my campaign.

  2. I have ordered a Dome G98C after I had seen the picture in real life at Tukcom. Several shops have the camera, but at double the price from online.

Now I have another question. My rear view mirror is powered, for the night vision. Can I use that connection to power my camera, or will it not be powerfull enough?

    201506131750079504.jpgDOME-GS98C.jpg

Mine is much the same as above as are many cheapo Chinese 2K ish ones. Cheap yes, but re pro is as good as a Go Pro .Only thing i dont like is that it only does 15Mins then opens another file. Why it just doesnt just run the 64 Gigs out with only a break when you turn off ignition seems a tad silly. It has a Zoom too but its best left set on biggest view. Super value from Lazada .. 1.5 years in the blazin Sun, and no damage, just set n foreget.

Is re pro the brand of your camera, or can you post the details.

The biggest issue I have found so far, and I have spend many hours now researching, is the battery since they tend to die fast in hot climate.

When the battery has died the last file will not be saved, but additionally the firmware starts to play up.

Regarding the 15 minute file, I like it that way since that is the maximum you can lose if something goes wrong, in fact I would set it to a lower setting.

  3. I seem to have got it wrong, I thought you wanted to run the camera through a USB port instead of the cig plug:- The window mount has a usb charge port, which makes convenient,

Just a thought, how is the mirror powered? "My rear view mirror is powered, for the night vision" is it powered all the time or only at night through the lighting circuit?

Would be a bit disappointing to get it all set up and find then the camera only worked at night .whistling.gif

Anyway you seem to know what you're doing so good luck.

Let us know how it all works out.

    smile.png

The mirror gets powered as soon as I turn the key, but still nobody has answered how I can measure if that power is strong enough to power the cam.

disconnect plug from mirror and use a multimeter ?

That would tell me the voltage, but I need to measure the current I guess, as i understand the cam needs 1.5A

  4. I think that usb port on the mount is for the optional GPS module

The usb on th e mount is to power the cam, the gps connector is on the camera itself and is a 3.5mm av plug

so the wiring configuration is cggie socket to mount then usb to cam ?

The cigarette socket has mini usb at the other end, you can plug it straight in the the camera mini usb or the mini usb on the window mount.

The camera has contacts, as has the window mount, to transfer the power from the mount to the camera.

  6. @Whizbang What settings do you mean by this "to select only one (not all 3) to get smooth playback."? Do you mean in Minix or in Kodi?

Those settings are in Kodi. System>Video>acceleration

For Live steam it is best to disable the first 2, but for recorded Movie streaming it's better to have all 3 enabled.

  7. Try hipflat they have a decent comparsion system, shows you graphs with history of the prices sale/rent of each property and you also able to see all the rooms available in the same condo so easy to spot if someone overprice it.

    I like hipflat also..

Graphs of theirs i do not trust..

    For example..

    https://www.hipflat.co.th/en/pattaya/condo/view-talay-1

    biggrin.png

That graph is 100% accurate, it has the 117% increase from last year because there are only few condo's for sale and just one idiot had a wet dream that his condo is worth almost 4 times the price from all the others.

  8. Car is around the same price to buy new, but much cheaper to tax, insure and run in Thailand.

    You mast kidding?

    Now is 1GBP its 20-25 bath?blink.png

C350 in Thailand almost 3.7 ml bath in UK its 39k ..

I am not talking about some fun car..

    c63 it 10 ml bath..

    in UK its near 70K

    how you calculate?

    blink.png

I am sure that where you come from a Mercedes is not considered to be expensive and belongs to the average Joe`s lifestyle. rolleyes.gif

I think you're trolling now. Thailand is the second biggest market after Germany for Mercedes.

So why you think in the UK the average joe drives the Mercedes? Right because the same car is there affordable priced.

  9. Ok you can charge through the USB, it does that for me when connected to the computer.

BUT will it work as a camera in the car through the USB?

You will note that the USB cable is MUCH shorter than the cable with the cig plug, no way will that USB reach down from the window to where most cars have a USB socket.

Both the USB and Cig cable plug into the same mini USB on the camera but they perform different functions - at least on all the cameras I've had.

    smile.png

Did you notice that I said there is information about that on the forums, and look at the picture I posted earlier.

But actually I have no idea which point you try to make. Why does the USB cable have to be 3 meters long, the purpose from THAT cable is not for charging, which the cigarette lighter does.

If I want to connect to my mirror I will open the cigarette lighter plug, which will have the 12V > 5V converter build in, and has only 2 wires which I can use to connect.

  10. Sears,Lense Crafters and many others in the U.S. run the same sales. Always frames only but I guess if people need reading glasses that badly then it's easy to miss the fine print.

the fine print must have been on the sales ladies ass cause it sure was not printed anywhere. infact the 2for 1 deal was not either..was something mentioned after /I said the frames were a bit expensive.

So maybe you need an hearing aid as well then biggrin.png

  11. Before you go any further trying to get the camera to work with the USB just check that it does work in record mode.

Normally the USB is for data, like plugging into your computer or phone or whatever for playback. When I plug my camera into the computer with the USB it comes up as an additional drive and I can watch files delete, format or whatever just like a ordinary flash drive.

I cannot record or even get the setup screen while plugged in the USB. For the camera to work in record and setup mode it has to be connected with the CigPlug.

I don't know what car you have but there should be no problem running the cam cable from the cig socket up to the camera. Those cam wires are fairly thin and easily tuck into the rubber door trim and under the roof lining edge.

    smile.png

It will definitely charge through USB, as you can see from the picture I posted earlier, that the cigarette lighter has mini usb connector at the other end.

I'm also reading up as much as i can on the DashCamTalk forum, and there are several threads from which is clear that you can alter the settings and firmware by connecting to PC.

  12. wow, that takes up a lot of real estate..

What's the meaning of that in everyday language?

it means once that chunky camera is hanging from the Mount it will create a nice blind spot in the middle of your windscreen but that's my personal opinion as I like my cams small and discreet.

here is one of mine, when sat in the drivers seat it is hidden by the mirror.

    attachicon.gif20160718_112334.jpg

Nothing like the blind spots created by the A pillars. I have a normal size dashcam just under my mirror that I never notice, but I am constantly peering around the A pillars to make sure nothing is hidden. Those things are ' huge!

I have no issue with A pillars

What is the minimum angle I should look at to have sufficient coverage, as I know on Thailand roads they come from everywhere.

  13. wow, that takes up a lot of real estate..

as to the wiring-to powered mirror , what is the power ouput at the mirror ad what is the power requirements of the cam

I haven't mounted it yet, but I have seen it's physical size at Tukcom, and assume that it also will be hidden by the mirror.

Anyway, I have asked to put my order on hold while I consider the Mini 0805 instead.

  14. I have a Minix X8 H plus and two Beelink M18, at less than half the price of the Minix.

The Beelinks have a better chip, have Android 5.1, and are incredibly fast compared to the Minix

The Beelink M18 does look quite good and might consider it for the spare room, available on Aliexress but couldn't find it on Lazada Thailand.

Available from Gearbest or Geekbuying for around 50$

  15. wow, that takes up a lot of real estate.. = It's Big as apposed to small and hardly noticeable.

Not having looked at the specs of your model I can only make assumptions.

Sounds like the camera will plug into/connect to both 12v and 24v systems and automatically down step to the required 5v.

As I recall USB slots are universally 5v.

I would not take the chance of bypassing the power plug by connecting straight to the mirror, which presumably is 12v. It would invalidate any warranty.

My cameras have cig plugs and to save using the socket on the dash I bought a cig socket extension that I hard wired into the accessory circuit and plugged my cameras into that and hid it all behind the car trim.

    smile.png

    Camera hardly can called big 8.5 x 5.4 x 3.8 cm

Bringing the wire down to the cigarette lighter involves a lot of work to hide the wire, and will not as neat as connecting it above the ceiling. Also my car is out of warranty if that was your concern

The window mount has a usb charge port, which makes convenient, so really need to find out if the mirror power supply is suficient.

  16. Two things to look out for if you buy from Lazada:

    - Check that the item can be paid "cash on delivery", this means that it is supplied from within Thailand and normally will be delivered in 3 -4 days

    - Look out for discount codes which "popup" when you visit the site. These will give you extra discount. (sometimes using the smart phone app. will give you more discount codes...if you are happy using smart phone purchasing)

I'm currently looking at an item and it gives the below pop up. You can translate for me, and howto apply?

I have seen those pop ups in the past, but unfortunately they are Thai only, and images so not possible to run through Google translate

  18. Car Cams are usually 5v.

There is a resister in the cigplug reducing the voltage from 12v to 5v

Unless your power to the mirror is same as the camera don't connect the camera to it.

    smile.png

I think the camera has the resister built in, since it is USB charging.

As for the power to the mirror. How do I measure that?

Power requirements for the camera are

    Working voltage DC 12~24V

    Power Interface

    5V 1.5A

  20. Also if you don't have it yet, the best investment you can make in safety is a safe-t-cut or similar (RCD / RCBO), which will turn everything off the moment somebody touches a 'hot' wire, if it is dimensioned right, even before you feel anything.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Residual-current_device

    For Thailand:

    http://www.safe-t-cut.com/en/

An absolute necessity especially around kids, but remember safe-t-cut and RCBO only detect and trip on active to earth leakage -- however, if a child with small fingers, scissors, hair pin, knife etc. gets between the active and the neutral without any leakage to earth, it could be a nasty -- if there is no leakage to earth the safe-t-cut / RCBO won't trip.

The only safe guard is close supervision of kids, switched power points and blanking plugs on all vacant power outlets.

Sorry, but I think you're wrong.

RCBO's trip on imbalance between Neutral and Live wire, not on earth connection. I think there are even RCBO's that don't have an earth connection.

Someone like Crossy will probably correct me.

  21. There are a lot of contaminates in the water supply here, calcium is not one of them. I actually have to add it too my pool to stop the grout dissolving. (Not a lot of people know that).

There are a few threads you can surch on this forum, and the most anyone has come up with is 13 ppm TDS. (F#@K all in terms of hardness). the basic local geology is igneous, (Laterite, decayed granite) therefore, unlikely to contain significant levels of calcium.

Maybe someone is pissing in your tank. bah.gif

Grout dissolves because of acidic water ( low PH) and you don't solve that with adding calcium but adding Sodium Carbonate ( soda ash) or Bi-carbonate (baking soda).

Alkalinity is something different from water hardness.

There is a lot ( depending on the location ) of calcium in the water here if your source is a private well, since shower cubicles are almost impossible to clean if you don't keep up.

If you have city water the calcium should be removed already.

Close but no cigar. Calcium Carbonate is what you use to raise the Total Hardness to 250-350 ppm (350-450ppm in salt water pools)

You are Correct. Alkalinity and PH are totally independent.

What most people have never heard of , and do not realize, is that there is more to pool maintenance that just chlorine and PH.

That is why their grout dissolves and the end up paying a fortune for their pool to be repaired.

Well you owe me my cigar.

I never mentioned Calcium carbonate and low total hardness does nothing to your grout, it is the the low pH that eats your grout, and for that you use Sodium Carbonate.

And Alkalinity and pH are VERY dependent, since low TA will make your pH decrease while high TA will make your pH increase.

    http://www.flasolar.com/pdf/water_chemistry_for_swimming_pools.htm

    Total Alkalinity (TA)

Total alkalinity is closely associated with pH but rather than a measure of hydrogen ion concentration it is a measure of the ability of a solution to neutralize hydrogen ions. Expressed in parts per million (ppm), total alkalinity is the result of alkaline materials including carbonates, bicarbonates and hydroxides - mostly bicarbonates. This acid neutralizing (buffering) capacity of water is desirable because it helps prevent wide variations in pH whenever small amounts of acid or alkali are added to the pool. Total alkalinity is a measure of water's resistance to change in pH.

    Calcium Hardness:

Calcium hardness is a measure of the dissolved calcium salts in water. Under normal conditions this should not be a problem in properly operated swimming pools. Estimates of the proper range of calcium hardness vary widely but the ideal level for plaster pool is generally considered to be about 250 ppm. If calcium hardness is very low then water may leach calcium from pool walls causing pitting of the plaster surface. Very high calcium hardness may contribute to scale formation and clouding of the water. To raise calcium hardness - add calcium chloride.

    pH

pH is the single most important element in swimming pool water chemistry. It affects every other chemical balance in pool water.

pH is a measure of hydrogen ion (H+) concentration in water. It indicates the relative acidity or basicity of pool water. pH is measured on a scale of 0 (strong acid) to 14 (strong base) with 7 being the neutral pH.

In pools a slightly alkaline pH of 7.4 to 7.6 is most desirable because this range is most comfortable to the human eye and provides for optimum use of free chlorine while maintaining water that is not corrosive or scale forming.

If pH is too low (below 7)
