  1. Crazy that we are now at 119 pages 😄 this topic is quite important for a lot of people here.
  2. Yeah super disappointed that no one distributes this Ooni ovens in Thailand... you really need to bring it by yourself or risk big import taxes when shipping it here (which I wouldn't risk made already bad experience here with crazy high import taxes) Great stuff once someone distributes it I will also get me one and that propane conversion which seems to get better results. Till then Gallery Pizza and others have to just send me some good pizza via Delivery 😄 and my Weber bbq has to make me some Cheeseburgers.
  3. And I tell you most of us are thinking the same. Yes we may all love Thailand and living here is still good (was better before Covid and the whole inflation on groceries) ... but it's replaceable by other countries in SEA ????
  4. Point is... even if it's not targeting foreigners. It makes the whole process a lot more headache and most probably paperwork heavy. This will not attract money to invest into the country like real-estate. Maybe a lot of exceptions coming though e.g. for all Chinese? ???? The Real Estate lobby will make a statement soon on this topic wait for it ???? they already afraid now to loose customers.
  5. Yeah exactly what I am trying to say... there is a reason this report is there and the sympathy for this guy is near 0 for me.
  6. You think so? Paints for me a total different picture on who he was and with what people he hang out. There is a reason why someone gets killed ???? we will maybe know more, maybe it was only the money.
  7. No it's totally not okay and the media does a super bad job not even mentioning the stuff that happened 2018. Even if he didn't get convicted he got questioned and was present at a minor trafficking raid.
  8. Who cares? You don't get just busted at a minor trafficking raid... he clearly was in these bars. Otherwise he wouldn't have to go to the police station if he just slept in his house.
  9. Can someone explain me why no News outlet writes about this? https://www.pattayamail.com/news/2-foreign-pedophiles-thai-pimp-nabbed-pattaya-trafficking-bust-203448 2018... Police arrested Hans Peter Walter Mack and Omarath Kathueay for human trafficking of minors. Police arrested a German national and a Thai ... It's an easy google search. Motive? No idea but that Mack guy was definitely not a great good awesome guy.
  10. @ttechguy what country was your passport from? Berkley does give 50% but it depends which country ????
  11. Once you get a baby this house visit is waved by some immigrations though ???? just saying. Most annoying invasion of your privacy in the whole process.
  12. Thanks for helping me with Visa questions the last years. RIP ????
  13. Thanks this helps. Everyone should checkout your comparison. Opens my eyes now how it works. Literally when you insure yourself in Thailand you often end up with LMG. (You can also go directly to LMG but seems more expensive) The international ones are the interesting ones you want to get before you get old ????
  14. Thanks for this. For long-term it seems smart to go with the European version of the same plan. Can you tell me which areas this covers? Thailand Zone 3 (NL, BE, FR, VN, LA, MM, PH, UK, NO, etc)
  15. So there is April Thailand and April International? April Thailand goes via LMG INSURANCE PUBLIC COMPANY LIMITED, which by the way also Luma uses and I think Aetna too? How did you get April International and how much more expensive is it? My invoices/letter all show April International.. still it's via LMG
  16. Yes with Luma and April. Both had no problems. Aetna as well was also no problem. I moved away from Luma because they like to exclude things in the coming years and they check hospital records from the past...
  17. Want to give my opinion to this with some years experience in TH. 1. If you have a nice insurance from your home country for some years and you can keep it while you here ... keep it. I had for example a long-term travel insurance for the first 3 years. The European ones are still the best imo. 2. But after you stay longer here you need to check around and you get some insurance in Thailand and there it goes... the trustworthy party ???? -- Luma does good. Had no problems with them. April feels better, because they still based in Europe and you get some advantages traveling to Europe Aetna (Bupa) was also okay.. just checked they have also some good plans now but quite expensive. Allianz and Cigna is when you don't care about money. Allianz world-wide care is ofc the gold standard imo BUT super expensive. --- Am i right that most plans go via LMG insurance in the end and April, Luma, Aetna just the brokers? It's this one big insurance company?
  18. This is the solution you are looking for. If you don't want todo it yourself these guys did it for us https://www.facebook.com/WeStopSmellShop/ not cheap but man it was a great service and they fixed all our bathrooms within 2 hours including the toilets.
  19. yeah they work wonders no idea why to be honest. Seems to be a better technology than Repeaters. For newcomers that don't have a mesh setup yet.. just check first with AIS or True if they offer a package with free (rentable) units. I paid 0 THB for my mesh devices with AIS and the package wasn't that much more expensive per month for 24 months. I think in 2-3 years it will be the standard if you living in a bigger apartment or house.
  20. I would disagree slightly. I also invested into better Routers and Repeaters even bought a super expensive repeater for 12.000 THB or so... nothing really helped much. Mesh Wifi seems really more stable. Was my last option and it worked well.
  21. You can switch your current AIS plan to the Mesh Wifi plan and get 2 units for free (ofc after your current plan is at least 12 months or so) I switched (house 2 floors) and I am super happy with the upgrade. Netflix and Co. work now much better connected to the second mesh unit downstairs (upstairs is the main fiber cabel) So for anyone who lives in a larger house checkout the latest Mesh AIS packages where you get the units included (for rent). The units also have no problems so far just reboot them every 5-7 days via 192.168.. or via the hardware button.
  22. I didn't built a house but I got one pre-made. After 5 years I can tell you what you really should avoid doing ???????? 1. Bad Water... really make sure you plan this well. Otherwise you got just stinky bathrooms. Research here a lot and make a good plan from septic tank layout to screwer gas vents and other stuff like u-pipe 2. Bathroom: take nice anti slip floor tiles. They awesome ???? we renovated all our baths already before they were super slippy. It's like holiday/Bali feeling style. 3. We built another "house" onto our house with a big dining kitchen inside. The end product is awesome but to get there was crazy. Plan your roof well as Thailand has strong rain ???? ???? and yeah I agree control the work as it is done... after it's too late. 4. I agree with the double brick and roof isolation. We don't have this and it gets f****** hot during normal days. Isolation in pre-made houses is not existing ???? 5. Build the whole house (fundament) a bit higher for flooding. Always better to be safe 6. Make sure you plan with a pest control guy early, our guy came for "house kitchen" and made sure in the fundament are the right pipes for pest control later via an access point. Costs like nothing maybe 4000 THB or so 7. In general on the previous pages I agree really invest into a good plumber and a good electrician. Scary how the quality differs ... we had our electric check again by another professional team after we finished that second house just to be sure. As I said in point 1... really I can't emphasize the plumber and a great layout of bad water again and again. A good water pump for fresh water is also nice ???? there are also different qualities on the market... if you buy too cheap there your water pressure in the second floor sucks
  23. this stuff is super interesting. Do you mind sharing what these multi units cost roughly? Having 1 big compressor outside vs 5 small ones around a house is something I would consider as well in the future ???? That water heating is also interesting, but to be honest a good easy water heater for the shower costs you 3000 THB and it just works.
