BANGKOK (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan recently visited Mukdahan province to inspect local water management projects, as areas in the upper part of Thailand start to transition into the dry season. His trip began at the construction site of the Huai Bang Eee water discharge gate in Don Tan district and the solar-powered groundwater extraction station in Dong Mon sub-district. The deputy premier also received a briefing on the progress of these projects, and asked the Royal Irrigation Department and the Department of Groundwater Resources to ensure the construction will conclude without delay. The two water management facilities will play important roles in the area, with the Huai Bang Eee water gate capable of helping to divert rainwater in order to mitigate flooding, as well as conserve water for the dry season. It can also help prevent water from the Mekong River from overflowing into farms. Thailand Post Introduces Digital Post ID BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand Post has introduced a new way of digitally addressing mail recipients with its new Digital Post ID service, using digital codes instead of written addresses. BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand Post has introduced a new way of digitally addressing mail recipients with its new Digital Post ID service, using digital codes instead of written addresses. Speaking at the launch ceremony, Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn said Digital Post ID implements a coordinates-based system similar to GPS, allowing postal operators to get a precise location of the delivery destination. The Digital Post ID is also capable of accounting for verticality so postal workers know if the recipient lives on a high floor. Thailand Post is set to pilot the new service early next year, with the national rollout expected to take place in 2024. Thailand Post CEO Dhanant Subhadrabandhu explained that the QR code-based system could in the future be printed on mail and packages sent via Thailand Post, replacing written recipient names and addresses entirely. According to the Thailand Post CEO, each code assigned to a particular shipment will be single-use, thereby helping protect the personal information of customers. The long-time child rights advocate told the media that he feels very sorry, because he never expected to be charged with human trafficking as, throughout his life, he has devoted himself to protecting the rights of children. Montri and his wife, who has been operating a resort, stand accused of using children from the child care centre to work at the resort. They were charged with assault and illegal use of child labour last month, after the Zendai Foundation filed a police complaint. A TikTok logo is displayed on a smartphone in this illustration taken January 6, 2020. Photo by Reuters The information ministry says it will create a "blacklist" of "harmful" websites, social media accounts and other content channels and fine brands that advertise on them. At a Wednesday conference on internet advertisements held by the Ministry of Information and Communications, a ministry rep said brands were still advertising on websites and other content channels that violated laws. Advertisers are these channels' sponsors, which negatively impact the community and create unfair competition with other channels that provide "clean" content. One of the solutions being considered is the creation of a "blacklist" of sites carrying ads. The listing would cover websites, social media accounts, content channels and community pages that violate the law, or those that host "nonsensical" contents that negatively affect the community.
