At a meeting with the Hanoi People’s Council Wednesday, municipal health department director Tran Thi Nhi Ha said that among the 586 state healthcare workers who quit, 20 had entirely abandoned their healthcare careers for jobs in other sectors such as online sales. The others had switched to jobs in private healthcare instead, she added, noting that the trend had started several years ago. Ha pointed out that the rate of public healthcare workers migrating to the private sector had been accelerating over the last two years. Per the OCTA Research group's Tugon ng Masa survey for the fourth quarter of 2022, 36% of interviewees said they were dissatisfied with the department's work. Only 10% said they were satisfied with it. It was followed by the Department of Trade and Industry at 16% dissatisfaction and the Department of Energy at 15%. Both the Department of Budget and Management and the Department of Transportation received 12% dissatisfaction. No other national government agency breached the ten percent mark. The DepEd earlier admitted it has no funding for special education programs under the proposed national budget. "Despite our earnest efforts to advocate for our learners with special needs, it was not considered in the National Expenditure Program," it said in a September release.   12. A 66-year-old man had one finger amputated when he rear-ended a sedan on Thursday, December 8th. The victim, Sun Phoprasarn, was aided by Sawang Boriboon emergency responders at 7:30 AM. The rescuers found him beside his black and blue Yamaha Nouvo motorbike on Chaiyaphonwithi Road in Pattaya’s Khao Mai Kaew subdistrict, Banglamung district, Chonburi. Sun’s pinky finger on his left hand was cut off, according to rescuers. He was rushed to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. The NBTC ruled unanimously on Thursday to demand the return of the 600 million baht that it gave to the SAT for the purchase of World Cup 2022 broadcast rights from FIFA, after it was discovered that the SAT had allegedly not complied with the “Must Carry” rule, because audiences on IPTV platforms were denied access to the broadcasts.   22. Anti-narcotics officials in Samut Prakan seized about 3 billion baht in property today (Friday), allegedly belonging to Chinese businessman Chaiyanat Kornchayanant, aka “Tuhao”. Justice Minister Somsak Thepsuthin said that the Office of the Narcotics Control Board exercised its authority under the narcotics law to seize the businessman’s property for examination, to determine whether it was acquired with money earned from illegal activities. The property seized includes 5.75 hectares of land in Samut Prakan, the Divalux Resort and Spa hotel and five luxury cars. Earlier, property worth about 1 billion, also allegedly belonging to Chaiyanat, was seized by the ONCB.   24. An alleged robber was shot dead and one of his accompliceswas injured when four men tried to rob a gold shop in Mueang district of Thailand’s western province of Tak this afternoon (Thursday). The four men arrived at the shop, opposite the Tak Pittayakhom School, on two motorcycles. One of them fired ashot into the air from a handgun and then tried to break into the shop using hand tools. The gold shop-owner opened fire at them, forcing them to turn and run. Five more shots were fired by the shop owner, killing one and injuring another, who was later arrested by the police.
