What can expats expect as far as getting the vaccine apart from very expensive and have to wait unless Embassies can step in and help .
What does the Thailand government have to do with expats and vaccines? You are a non immigrant citizen of another country living in Thailand on an extension of stay. Nothing is unclear about that in the Thailand society. You are not a Thai citizen and no matter how much money you spend in Thailand, you will never be a Thai citizen.

Use my cards all over Asia. Safer than cash and reward points add up. If you are a victim of fraud and a good customer the credit card company always makes it right. The only time I have been ripped off in Asia is paying with dollars and getting counterfeit bills for change. Credit card companies have gotten better by sending you a text message when your card is used. If it is fraud just reply to the text message.

And no quarantine?
If you click on the link you will see the quarantine and all the other impractical requirements of this entrance to Thailand. The only people willing to do this will be those that need to see their families in Thailand or have some business here. The entry requirements are excessive at best. If Thailand wants to be Covid free then it will be and also be bankrupt. No one with real options and real money are going to jump through hoops for the pleasure of entering Thailand.

My extension of stay is up in December and I have lived in Bangkok almost 5 years. I don’t have a condo, car, wife, thai kids and I took my 800 k out of the bank. I am fortunate to be able to live anywhere and I spend money. I enjoyed Bangkok and traveling Thailand and supporting some isaan families through their daughters. I like Thailand ladies and freedom. The odds of me now buying a condo, buying a car, playing golf three times a week and marrying a Thai woman and supporting her family are now zero. I don’t need the hassle in life. It is their country but it is my money and time. No hard feelings but I do feel for the poor thais who are being hurt by their government. I understand some retired guys are happy they are in Thailand and costs are going down and the economy will be bad so their pension will give them a better life and they will not get Covid. But those of us with money and choices and empathy think the Thai government only cares about itself and the elite minority. Look forward to coming one day as a tourist when there are no quarantines, the bars and girls are back at work and it is easy to travel to Bangkok. Until then lots of isaan families are in real trouble. Sellers of condos, houses and cars have little to no buyers. And Thais that live off tourism and retirees supporting girls are financially screwed. Sad really but Thailand is like a bad stock right now that no one is buying until new management takeS over and makes radical changes to the current business model.

I contacted the Aus Embassy and got a email reply as follows
Visa Letters:
Given how difficult it is to secure a flight to Australia, the Embassy has decided to assist in issuing letters to support people applying to extend their Thai visas. It is not the role of the Australian Government to be saying who should or shouldn’t stay in Thailand, that’s up to Thai Immigration; however, given Thai officials are reluctant to make these decisions without our involvement, we have decided to issue the letters for two categories of Australians:
1. If you are transitioning from a short term tourist visa to a long term visa, Thai Immigration generally want a letter from us to allow you to do so. We are happy to do so as long as you can show us evidence that you’ve applied for a long term visa; or
2. If you have had flights booked and cancelled, your next flight is after 26 September and you can show us evidence of this, we will also provide you with a letter to support your visa extension.
So any other reason such as the one i was told by my local im office because i am on a ME O Visa valid till 4th January 2021 is not covered .
If i am forced to leave Thailand because they closed the borders making it impossible to exit/re-enter and get a 90 day stamp then i will definitely never return , to my wife and home + family and F them all .
You sound like a man extremely frustrated and upset. I get it man. Dealing with governments and bureaucrats can be stressful.???? In the end I hope common sense and empathy happen for you and your family. Makes no sense to make you leave and then be practically barred from returning until an unknown date. ????

Screw Thailand. No one cares about helping Thailand anymore. Hope they close their borders forever and enjoy eating rice and bugs. Thankful I don’t have a thai wife and family and own a bunch of stuff in Thailand.

We all make mistakes and do dumb things and suffer the consequences. But hopefully the man will recover and empathize with his family, friends and him for the pain and hard lesson.
Go fund me pages are not something I enjoy seeing but you don’t have to contribute anything. Just ignore that part of the story.

Looking at the worldwide news everyday I am happy to be in Thailand with no or little Covid-19.
Many people complain about the government but I think especially in this case we have to say: Good job. Thanks.
And then there are all the Thai people who take this serious. Most were wearing masks right from the beginning. Nobody had to order the people to wear masks, they were smart enough to do it by themselves. Great.
And the economy? Obviously that is bad and it will continue to be bad for some time. Nobody likes that. But what's the alternative? Opening up the borders and inviting tourist in? How long will it take before they infect others? And then? Let it spread or shut down again? I think no international tourists is the best from all the bad options.
A lot of girls have their internet service cut off and cannot post to Facebook. You know the economy is bad when the women and men go home to isaan and are broke. But the wealthy Thais and retired expats are all safe, have shelter, money, food and booze and really that is all that matters. ????

The ban of spouses and parents of Thai children is beyond reasonable explanation.
Of all the governments in the world this current Thailand dictator is the most clueless and heartless concerning people he rules.
to all the posters who say Thailand is Covid free then great for your old age with retirement income. But most Thai people need to work and eat and most kids and spouses need their parents and spouses together.

Honestly, 90% of the caddies have no clue what they do and worsen your game-play.
Don’t know where you play but my experience is the opposite. 90 percent know a lot about the greens, yardage, locating balls etc. the other 10 percent are so gorgeous who cares what they know about golf as long as they drive the cart with one hand and rest the other hand on my leg. ????????️

Now, thats a completely different ballgame!
Sadly, I might agree... Which is why I'll stay here fighting tooth and nail to avoid leaving, I trust the arbitrariness here way more than any "rights" in the West... Easier to fly under radars and so on!
Everyone likes arbitrariness when it fits their purpose. Wait until the grain goes against you or your family and see how you like it. ???? if you are scared you are not free.

Spot on. A lot of us speak about quick fixes as if we have the answer. The answer is a hard journey and sacrifice and these kids are doing something to change their world that is risky and brave. Change never comes easily.

Maybe we can leave out the second wave and move directly to the third wave?
In any case, it looks as if we have to move to a new scary summer wave anyway (give it a number as you see fit) as the first wave seems to lose its lethality.
The fourth wave is bankruptcy and starvation. Lockdowns and scare tactics serve only the old and retired not the mostly working people.

Rented three different condos for a year each with thai landlords in Bangkok. Got my deposit back every time.
biggest mistake was not negotiating harder for my first condo rental of one year.
sign a one year contract and not a two year. Rates will not be going up. You are in a strong position now with the airports virtually closed to expat renters.
if you hire an agent remember they will only show you condos they have a under contract to get a payment of one months rental. They will not show you all the condos in the same building for rent.
leave the place clean and take photos when you move in. Most Thai landlords are honest IMO

Happy all you old retired expats don’t have the virus while the young people starve to death. Lockdowns make no sense except for the old people with a coin in their pocket that can stay home and don’t have to work. ????

However, I realized when looking deeper into immigration years ago, owning property entitled me to NO immigration benefits, therefore, I still will NOT buy anything in Thailand unless I am ok to lose it permanently. My regards to you circumstances. Be careful going forward.
A lot of us do not have Thai wives or Thai kids so this post does not apply to those people. I was going to buy a car in Thailand because I like to drive and travel and get to the golf course. But Covid and immigration has changed that decision for me. Will buy nothing I am not willing to walk away and forget it.
Maybe if cars and condo prices fell over 50 percent I might take the chance. Otherwise you could own a condo full of stuff and a car and a bike and be barred from entering the country for a variety of reasons known today and unknown in the future. I beleive immigration should provide a special extension of stay for owning a condo or assets over a certain amount and consider property owners important to the Thailand society.

I thought USA was the HIGHEST risk ?
Have a beer and get over it. All people are not treated equally - and that is ok. The commander is more important than you with different rules of entrance and Thailand cares more about him than you as they should IMO. ????

I liked living in Bangkok the last few years. So if the rules are too personally strict for me to enter Thailand again to live there, then I will live elsewhere. Seems like Thailand’s future plans do not desire nonAsian tourism and nonAsian expats living in Thailand. But plans can change and will see what happens.

Problem for Thailand is most of us “stuck” outside are losing our “hunger for Thailand” We miss Thailand but the longer this goes on and the more the Thailand government talks the more we are considering other countries. I know I am. Almost bought a new truck in February 2020 in Bangkok. I got lucky and now I don’t trust Thailand to buy anything there ever.
Those of us on the outside have plenty of money to live and choices. For the fortunate ones who don’t have Thai wives and children and families, the Thailand government is causing “us” to say forget Thailand - lots of room on this planet to choose where you want to live and spend your money.
I think expats that had to exit Thailand for work or family member death or other good reason should of course be allowed to return to their lives in Bangkok. So Thailand can do what it chooses, and those choices have consequences. I doubt a lot of people like me will be going back to Thailand except for a holiday and we will choose another country to live in.
