What can expats expect as far as getting the vaccine apart from very expensive and have to wait unless Embassies can step in and help .

What does the Thailand government have to do with expats and vaccines? You are a non immigrant  citizen of another country living in Thailand on an extension of stay. Nothing is unclear about that in the Thailand society. You  are not a Thai citizen and no matter how much money you spend in Thailand, you will never be a Thai citizen.

    And no quarantine?

If you click on the link you will see the quarantine and all the other impractical requirements of this entrance to Thailand. The only people willing to do this will be those that need to see their families in Thailand or have some business here. The entry requirements are excessive at best. If Thailand wants to be Covid free then it will be and also be bankrupt. No one with real options and real money are going to jump through hoops for the pleasure of entering Thailand.

I contacted the Aus Embassy and got a email reply as follows

    Visa Letters:

Given how difficult it is to secure a flight to Australia, the Embassy has decided to assist in issuing letters to support people applying to extend their Thai visas. It is not the role of the Australian Government to be saying who should or shouldn’t stay in Thailand, that’s up to Thai Immigration; however, given Thai officials are reluctant to make these decisions without our involvement, we have decided to issue the letters for two categories of Australians:

    1.      If you are transitioning from a short term tourist visa to a long term visa, Thai Immigration generally want a letter from us to allow you to do so. We are happy to do so as long as you can show us evidence that you’ve applied for a long term visa; or

    2.      If you have had flights booked and cancelled, your next flight is after 26 September and you can show us evidence of this, we will also provide you with a letter to support your visa extension.

So any other reason such as the one i was told by my local im office because i am on a ME O Visa valid till 4th January 2021 is not covered .

If i am forced to leave Thailand because they closed the borders making it impossible to exit/re-enter and get a 90 day stamp then i will definitely never return , to my wife and home + family and F them all .

You sound like a man extremely frustrated and upset. I get it man. Dealing with governments and bureaucrats can be stressful.???? In the end I hope common sense and empathy happen for you and your family. Makes no sense to make you leave and then be practically barred from returning until an unknown date. ????

Looking at the worldwide news everyday I am happy to be in Thailand with no or little Covid-19.

Many people complain about the government but I think especially in this case we have to say: Good job. Thanks.

And then there are all the Thai people who take this serious. Most were wearing masks right from the beginning. Nobody had to order the people to wear masks, they were smart enough to do it by themselves. Great.

And the economy? Obviously that is bad and it will continue to be bad for some time. Nobody likes that. But what's the alternative? Opening up the borders and inviting tourist in? How long will it take before they infect others? And then? Let it spread or shut down again? I think no international tourists is the best from all the bad options.

A lot of girls have their internet service cut off and cannot post to Facebook. You know the economy is bad when the women and men go home to isaan and are broke. But the wealthy Thais and retired expats are all safe, have shelter, money, food and booze and really that is all that matters. ????

  5. The ban of spouses and parents of Thai children is beyond reasonable explanation.

Of all the governments in the world this current Thailand dictator is the most clueless and heartless concerning people he rules.

to all the posters who say Thailand is Covid free then great for your old age with retirement income. But most Thai people need to work and eat and most kids and spouses need their parents and spouses together.

Honestly, 90% of the caddies have no clue what they do and worsen your game-play.

Don’t know where you play but my experience is the opposite.  90 percent know a lot about the greens, yardage, locating balls etc.   the other 10 percent are so gorgeous who cares what they know about golf as long as they drive the cart with one hand and rest the other hand on my leg. ????????️

Now, thats a completely different ballgame!

Sadly, I might agree... Which is why I'll stay here fighting tooth and nail to avoid leaving, I trust the arbitrariness here way more than any "rights" in the West... Easier to fly under radars and so on!

Everyone likes arbitrariness when it fits their purpose. Wait until the grain goes against you or your family and see how you like it. ???? if you are scared you are not free.

Maybe we can leave out the second wave and move directly to the third wave?

    https://www.scmp.com/comment/opinion/article/3092922/hong-kong-third-wave-public-needs-step-and-keep-coronavirus-bay

In any case, it looks as if we have to move to a new scary summer wave anyway (give it a number as you see fit) as the first wave seems to lose its lethality.

The fourth wave is bankruptcy and starvation. Lockdowns and scare tactics serve only the old and retired not the mostly working people.

  9. Rented three different condos for a year each with thai landlords in Bangkok. Got my deposit back every time.

biggest mistake was not negotiating harder for my first condo rental of one year.

sign a one year contract and not a two year. Rates will not be going up. You are in a strong position now with the airports virtually closed to expat renters.

if you hire an agent remember they will only show you condos they have a under contract to get a payment of one months rental. They will not show you all the condos in the same building for rent.

leave the place clean and take photos when you move in. Most Thai landlords are honest IMO

    ‘Not a risk group’

I thought USA was the HIGHEST risk ?

Have a beer and get over it. All people are not treated equally - and that is ok. The commander is more important than you with different rules of entrance and Thailand cares more about him than you as they should IMO. ????
