Some truth to it to be fair. 70,815 over 75 died of covid out of 261,530 total deaths in th US. Average life expectancy in the US IN 78.
55, 985 were in the 65-74 age range. That is pretty much half of the total of covid deaths.
Well, hell! Why didn’t you say so before? Screw those old people. It’s not like they have anyone who loves them, and let’s be honest, suffocating to death all alone in a hospital isn’t that bad.

Do we blame Thaksin for this or not?

Why not test? And why not quaranten like people from abroad?
It’s widely known now that many people don’t have a fever with covid.
Only recently could you even get a test without a fever.- 1

If there was ever any intention or desire to open the country again, a small percentage of a large number of tourists would have resulted in new cases and then the subsequent spread would have occurred. Even with a 95% protection rate from a vaccine. On the basis that a few new cases now will result in lockdowns and restrictions then I can see no solution in the near future...which may mean years.
The government only needed someone else to blame the infections on. Now they have a scapegoat.

All the Thai cities with 1 infection. Right. Because COVID19 is a miracle.
One of these days everyone will wake up to the fact that Thailand has not been out randomly testing communities.
When you are only testing those who come to the hospital and meet specific criteria, your numbers are going to be low.

That’s the only solution you can see because your information is terribly out of date.
Sweden is currently under lockdown after admitting that their first method of attempting to reach herd immunity failed.
Sweden now has the hugest death rate, by far, of any Nordic country.
Of the people tested for antibodies in Stockholm after their failed attempt, only 6% of them had antibodies.
Sweden failed and is locked down right now.
Please educate yourself.

Sorry to stick a pin your bubble and burst it, but Thailand has been testing for months. They can produce 100,000 test kits locally a month.
Even in our home countries, not everybody gets tested. Thus, some get sick, end up at the hospital where they do testing, and....yup, you got it. I think....
Yet they have only tested 1,200,000 out of 70,000,000. That is embarrassingly low for a country with such a population size.
They also do not do random testing. When you only test those who come to the hospital to get tested, your numbers are going to be incredibly low.

20% of the number of cases who do have symptoms. Where are they?
Thailand has over 700 hospitals and a pharmacy within eyesight from any other pharmacy in the country and Thais self medicate.
No one would even notice unless it was centralized to one or two hospitals, assuming the locals went in the first place and didn’t just self medicate and/or die at home from pneumonia like so many do every year during normal times.

Let us say that many people may have traveled from wherever in Thailand to Samut Sakhon and enjoyed a 4 day holiday as well as bringing back seafood for themselves and their friends. Then lets say that because of Covid having a 5 day possible incubation period that the 1st case in Samut Sakhon was found on Friday, 5 days after the last domestic traveler returned to their home province, and was the possible infected person who infected the Prawn Market lady. Let us just say that over that long holiday weekend more people were infected and then traveled onward and spreading the infection as they went and then add in the incubation period, whether or not they became asymptomatic or showed minor symptoms. If you want to believe the Thai Governments narrative then this is what they will be saying and they will be blaming the foreign workers for spreading it. When in reality it has been here all along as I have stated and some people when it is finally transmitted to them have worsening symptoms while the majority do not and choose to self medicate like it was a common cold, an allergy such as hay fever, or even a chest cold. After all this is the time of the year for allergies and I have heard and observed many heavy coughers on BTS, MRT, in the malls, and crowded shopping areas like Chatuchak, Huai Kwang, and then even China town, with many in the crowded open air areas of the small Soi's where many merchants are not wearing masks. Keep safe folks, it is amongst us, but do we need to be hospitalized if we are just asymptomatic or have cold like symptoms?, well the government would like it as it will drive money into the hospitals and pockets of the government.
I would expect nothing less from the Thai government than to blame foreigners for the “new spread” of a virus that was here all along.
Their testing numbers are public and have been very low, with virtually no random testing.

No need to panic too much, though. Thailand is in a lucky situation due to its climate. Thanks to the hot climate, people are either outdoors where the concentration of the virus loaded aerosols is low, as the dwell time of droplets and aerosols in the air is short.
Or they are indoors with an AC switched on, and the AC reduces aerosols and droplets in the air as well, leading also to low virus concentrations in the inhaled air. This low virus load statistically leads to mostly weak or asymptomatic cases.
The outcome never will reach the level as northern countries experience during the wet and cold winter there.
Quite likely that what they are seeing now has been the situation for quite a while already, but due to not testing nobody saw it.
Myanmar, India, and Brazil strongly disagree with your statement.

Don't test the wider population, can't report positives.
No autopsies performed on the elderly who die, can't report positives.
Report people who die from respiratory illness as having died from viral pneumonia.
While it might seem as Thailand has done a good job of managing covid the figures which are reported are grossly understated (same as deaths on roads, only report people who are dead at the scene). This is a function of all authoritarian 'governments'.
You nailed it.
It’s not a coincidence that most authoritarian governments are recoding very low or no infections/deaths.
Myanmar kept a lid on it as long as they could but there are too many now to hide it due to their poor healthcare system. My maid is Burmese, she has lost half of her family to Covid over the past two months. She said for several months the they were dismissing all illnesses and deaths as the flu but now they can’t deny it longer and desperately need assistance. They have one of the worst health care systems in the entire world.
We’ve had several elders die in our neighborhood. Of course everyone is talking, scared of the virus, but they wouldn’t even do autopsies on them. Said they died of pneumonia related illnesses and that was that.
I would wager if Thailand did wide random testing as well as posthumous testing, there would be a lot of infections.
Seeing how the police are going to charge the one healthcare worker for making them look bad when exposing a weakness in border control, it’s no wonder no info is coming from the hospitals. Everyone is scared to post anything here out of fear of police and junta retaliation. But this is what such an oppressive government does, makes people live in fear and covers the truth.

Unless you have family or a partner here, there isn’t a single thing in Thailand that’s worth going into a 2 week quarantine for that you can’t get elsewhere with no hassle.

It’s just more Thai propaganda to keep Thais hating the Burmese. You can’t have Thais treating them like actual humans. It’s so much easier to always have a scapegoat around when they can’t blame a foreigner, plus, they are great labor slaves.

Those pesky Burmese once again. Go out at night, 95% of all Thais and foreigners are not wearing masks. COVID19 doesn’t go out after dark here.

Way too many foreigners are testing positive in the ASQ hotels.
That means they are catching in IN the ASQ, which no one obviously wants to keep talking about since the French/Thai caught it in the ASQ and the whole thing was questioned. Or they are catching it on the flight, which clearly shows air travel to be unsafe. Or the pre flight tests are giving false negatives, which calls all testing into question. Or Thailand’s tests are giving multiple false positives OR they are flat out scamming people for hospitalization and treatment money.
Every one of those possibilities is bad news.

That vax was already given since June to chinese army, medical personell, as well as students, businessmen and workers travelling abroad. Now probably over milion doses.
who is going to pay 500b for vax, which is not going to work?
they have managed to convince the government to give them 150mln. The government do realise, that it is burned money.
Now they should have to open charity and not fool donors, that they will be the first in the que.
But really it’s governments resposibility
Because “Thai people.”
Thailand obviously wants to throw their name in the ring as a country making a vaccine, even if no one uses it. It will make great headlines... in Thailand.

Have you seen the testing numbers? Embarrassingly low. Yet, somehow, someway, rogue single cases are being found as if the Buddha himself manifested the virus into a person.
Amazing Thailand.

Instead of being careful so you don’t end up sick, or worse, infecting someone who might die, which takes minimal effort to be a decent human being, your only solution is to run and hide.
It’s truly no wonder you flunked out of whatever hole you came from and landed in Thailand.

A plane is probably the safest place you can be right now. Everyone is tested and wearing masks. Shutting down international travel never made any sense to me. If the virus is already spreading locally, how can allowing foreign tourists in possibly make it any worse? Just test them before they get on the plane, and sure test them when they get off too why not. You can even track them if you want to or make them stay in one region, but you should not need to have to quarantine them for 14 days on top of that. Seem to me they are just throwing stuff at the wall at that point to try look like they are doing something they know won't make a difference anyways.
Thais are not tested and not everyone wears a mask the entire time.
How do you think those arriving for quarantine ended up with a virus that takes 2 - 14 days to show symptoms? Many traveled with it because they had false negative tests. Many others caught it on the flight.

Do you know that the yearly flu vaccine changes?
They change it based on predictions to determine the strain that will make rounds that year.
We’ll eventually get this to a point that we can live with. Scientists and pharmaceutical companies have an unlimited budget and all the resources on the planet to figure this out. Such a response with unlimited funding is unprecedented.
