  1. Have been following the development in alternative ways to run engines.

I think in the future we dont need to use petrol.

This far I have been studying the use of fuelcells and hydrogen gas and it seems intresting but some sientist get killed under mystical circumstances and maybe to much money play a big role here.

Take a look at this webpage and hope you find it intresting.

  2. I have noted the same thing and speculated on it occasionally. I think that since the pricing of motorcycles is somewhat fixed, making money with a dealership has to do with inventory and overhead, ergo the reason these shops are small with a very limited selection. You will probably find that a dealership is required to have a minimum count, not a minimum value, and the natural response would be to buy the cheapest models for flooring. I have seen very few phantoms in stock in my wanderings.

Having said that, I have been half in the market for a few new ones and keeping my eyes open for any shop that might carry one. I have run across a few and will take a look for you to see if they are still around. We also have some Phantoms with extremely low mileage (under 5000 kilometers) that are reasonably priced.

I have even looked for low mileage ones too, but because I can't find a new one, I will probably just buy a new Yamaha Nouvo, I am tall (6'4") and thought the bigger bike might be more comfy for me, but considering I can't even find one to sit on, let alone buy, I figured to hel_l with it and if I can't find one in the next week here in Bangkok, I'll be headed with my 55,000 baht to the local Yamaha shop for a new motorbike to ride around on.

I have lived here in Thailand for awhile and I truly love this country and its people, but the salesmen here really do amaze me. They have the poorest selling skills and beliefs I have ever seen anywhere in the world. Trying to buy anything here is always a chore!

If anyone knows of a dealer with a new Honda Phantom or a really good Yamaha dealer in Bangkok. let me know, ok.

    Thanks,

    Nhscotsman

Try Noi in Bangsaen autorized Honda dealer...hes shop is located in the intersection of Sukhumwit and Bangsaen beach road

    in Bangsaen,Chonburi

  4. Hi All,

I will be applying for my first O visa extension (married to a Thai) next week and i would like to know what documents are required. I can't seem to find this info when i do a search. Any up to date info will be much appreciated. I am a 50 yeat old Brit if this makes any difference.

    Cheers, Rick

Better to apply for extension based on retirement than marriage.

I am married myself to a Thai and the immigration seems not so intrested to handle all paperwork and checkups that they usually will do.

Its a sin that many forenginers just use a marriage to stay here in Thailand and the immigration knows about that and they seems very suspicious to grant an extension based on marriage today.

To apply for extension based on retirement will show the immigration that you not using a marriage to stay here.

In case you not have a financial status that make it possible to a retirement extension there are many ppl in this messeage board that willing to help you and an immigration lawyer can make a good preparing before visit the immigration for extension.

I whish you good luck whit your future life and your marriage here in Thailand

  5. I been looking for the webpage of Pattaya immigration and it seems on its way to make it easier for internet users like you can fill in forms online and have them print out in paper.

Maybe its a good sign that Thailand getting forward in IT technology like internet so maybe in a future you can apply for ex. extension online like to apply for e-visa to cambodia.

Actually I am a Swedish national and in my country you can make most of any business online even whith our government like the Tax for ex.

The negative consequences of this modern technology is that a lot of people get unemployed like in Sweden, the past 10 years have my country closed almost every post offices and its just a few bank offices left because a great percentage of our citizens use internet today.

Maybe in future even Thailand will go the same way but I think its going to take some generations before its come true.

  6. Bengt, I have seen other members posting that they go to Jomthien for there extensions instead of Sriracha and Jomthien accepts the applications because they know that the officers at Sriracha do not know their job. you might wont to try that.

    --

    Maestro

    Thanks for replying Maestro.

Maybe I will try immigration at Jomtien as they seems used to farangs rather than SR immigration.

Just want everyone to know that I have all the required documents in order.

Application and photo,,certificate from Swedish embassy whith a stamp,,statement from Bangkok bank ,,photocopies of passport and visa registred condo at land office in chonburi , certified address in chonburi.

My financial staus is pension and bank account alltogether almost 900.000 THB a year.

I really appreciate all of you that advice me because I really feel small like a mosquito in front of the immigration officer and I cannot say to an officer that hes wrong...I have to behaive politely whatever.

I also married to a Thailady but immigration recommend us to apply for retirement extension instead of marriage extension and thats no problem.

    Regards.

  7. I have been to immigration office in Sri Racha to get information about the rules for a one year extension based on retirement and one thing that make me so confused is whats the real immigration rules for the financial staus.

Immigration in Sri Racha have only one option and thats 800.000 THB for at least 3 months in a Thaibank..

My staus is that I have 300.000 THB in Thaibank and certified pension from sweden more than 550.000 THB per year but Sri Racha cannot grant the extension because they require 800.000 THB in the bank and no other option are acceptable.

Is there anyone else that got this kind of experience whith the immmigration in Thailand???

At the moment i have been using NON-O visa multiple entries for about 5 years now and very tired of all harassment at the border in Poi Pet every 90 days i have to make my border runs.

I have my condo in Chonburi so do i have any choice to choose another immigration office??

    Hi Bengt

Did you show Immigration a Letter from your Embassy that Certifies your Income?

    Bill

Yes..I have tried a second time now and almost got my extension when suddenly the officer discovered that i open the bank account just a month ago and I was told to wait until my money have been at the account for at least 3 months.

Lucky me i have a non-o multiple so I take another border run in october and will try a third time for an extension in middle of november.,hopefully i will get my extension by that time

  8. Seems the US dollar will continue to grow against the Thai Baht, any idea's if the UK pound will continue to fall against the baht? its gone from 67 to 63 in the last 6 weeks... :o

The pound is down by about 8% against the dollar. There is currently no good news to check the downward drift, but then the baht is undepinned by an unstable political situation, so its a race to the bottom for now!

The sterling is in free fall of late and im dreading the thought of it going under 60 baht/pound in September, i hope this doesn't happen. For someone like me who is planning to transfer money in late September its a nightmare watching it drop like this...

    I totally agreee

  9. Just want to tell you that a real piano cannot keep the tuning because of the tropical climat here and will sound terrible after awhile but there are digtal piano to buy here to a good price.

I use a yamaha digital piano myself for about 30.000 THB and it have exellent sound so i would say you get a lot for that kind of money and you are able to play whit headset in the middle of the night to so no need to worry about the nabours.

I am retired musician myself and like you i cannot read notes and so on so good luck whit your hobby as a pianist here but be aware to take anykind of work as musician whithout work permit.

  10. Just wonder about what the immigration told me a few times that when i arrive at my residence the immigration have to be notified by the form TM30 whitin 24 hours.

Do i have to do that whenever i do my border runs every 90 days?

I have been using a NON-O multiple entries for 5 years now and am about to apply for extension based on retirement.

If anyone knows more about how and when to use the form TM30.

I have my own condo and registered in my name so I have my address here and get all bills here too.

    Regards.

  11. Hello all that been a good help to me.

I went to Sri Racha immigration office today Friday 5th and have all dokument in order and i got very clode to a grant but the officer suddenly saw that my bankaccount whit 300.000THB was just a month old and she told me to show up again before my visa expire october 18 so she actually want to give me some help but she told me that i have to have that 300.000THB for at least 3 month but the immigration law allow a combination of pension certified by embassy and bankaccount no matter for how long time i have that money in the account but i cannot tell an immigration officer the Thailaw so I thank her for her time and went back home whit a smile and think better luck next time.

I am using a combination of pension about 550.000 THB and bank account 300.000 THB and I have a NON-O visa multiple entries so maybe i have to do another border run before i make another attempt to get my extension.

Anyway thank to all that know and can give good advices for a good life here in LOS.

  12. can somebody clarify why everytime there is a major negative event in thailand, the

    thai baht grows stronger.

after the military coup the baht, compared to the euro, went from 50 to 45.

under military rule the baht was the most growing currency in the world!

now there are major protests in bangkok and political unstability, but the baht still strengthens from 52 (1 month ago) to 49.

i cant get it. i am no economist, but i thought that it should go the other way round.

it might sound selfish, but i wouldnt mind having a couple thousand more to spend at the end of the month, before they all kick us out! :o

Maybe the THB is affected by the Japanese Yen that have been increased compared to many currencies even the US$...if i guess right the strengthen of the Yen can affect THB to get stronger too.

Anyone else that have some opinions?

  13. If using 800k bank account only (not 300k) it has to be there 3 months but if using along with a pension/income letter from Embassy there is not requirement for a 3 month wait.

Thank you for that information lopburi3..

I think someone else told me the same information..maybe I read it in some document too....anyway i will apply for extension and lets hope the immigration officers not to bored to se me again.

    Regards

    Bengt!

  14. Good luck for your next visit to the office, Bengt. Remember to dress well, smile and treat the officers with respect. I have had the pleasure of teaching officers from this office in the past. They are kind hearted people who will be happy to help you.

The immigration police at Sriracha can speak English but remember English is not their first language. If you can't speak Thai and you are using English to communicate with them, they may have trouble with your accent; please speak slowly and be patient.

Thank you once again...I can say that I always behaive politely and show my respect to the officers at immigration and I have to accept any answer whit a smile.

Maybe I have to speak slowly because even if I am a Swedish nationality I speak english mostly flutenly.

One other thing...I am married to a Thaiwoman now for more than 4 years and she is a great help mostly and she also went to Immigration to be my support and the officers recommend me to apply for extension based on retirement instead of marriage because much more paperwork for a marriage extension.

Anyway I have to wait until some more month because my 300.000 THB at Bangkok bank have to be there for at least 3 months by the rule.

I appreciate all help from you and I will make another try after renewing my Thai drivers license.

    Bengt!

  15. I have attached a scan of the copy given to me by immigration. It is double sided - one side Thai and the other in English.

Unfortunatly, it is out of date. There is no longer a requirement for a doctors certificate. It is also possible that other changes have occured in the last 2 months!

    post-31207-1220245483_thumb.jpg

I would suggest visiting the office and asking for the lastest list of requirements.

I would like to thank you for the documents that I have been printing out, at least it can be a good help at my next visit to the Immigration in Sri Racha.

But before i apply for extension I will renew my Thai drivers license and i need to visit Immigration for a residence certificate and I can ask once again and show the documents that comes from same Immigration office.

    Bengt!!

  17. My passport is getting quite full and I need to do the dreaded border run to PP. Jack Golf has told me that I can use their bus service to Poipet with my own e-visa. Instead of B2,200, they will charge me B1,400 for transport.

This seems pretty good, but on looking at the Cambodian e-visa website, I am wondering is it safe enough for my credit card.

Has anyone ever got an e-visa from the Cambodian Govt website (http://evisa.mfaic.gov.kh) without any problems?

    Thanks for any input.

Hello....I have the last years apply for E-Visa to Cambodia,it works very good and its safe to use credit card and the border runs goes more smoothly than before when I apply at the border and no need to use glue to get the E-Visa to your passport, just staple it or print out at least 2 copies of your E-Visa when you goes for the border run.

I really recommend Cambodia E-Visa....wish that Thailand also could do the same or??

  18.
