Just love you people who go to a Third World country and then willingly pay prices that are higher than Europe or America. There's a sucker born every minute, I guess.

Says some dumbwit who in other threads says to live in BKK "120,000" a month is the BARE minimum..... LOL

Well, I have a western style condo for 32K / month - centrally located...  no bar fines and I eat Thai food (some street, some home cooked)..... well less as long as I don't change my lifestyle here....  any reasonable person should be able to save quite a bit.... more if they move a little ways out to a townhouse or house which would give you more room.

Well, I guess we don´t appreciate what a hi-so life these guys live ....

I agree with you….80K or in that vicinity seems to be a much bandied around figure these days….ok for a shitty studio and street food with a barfine a week thrown in. Savings potential: zero.

120,000 for a miserable life? Even for this part of BKK in question I think this is bulls....

    "Most people"??

So the sex tourists and sexpats who descend on those areas in the evenings outnumber the tens of thousands of Thai office workers, bank staff, shop workers who use those stations all day, every day?

Honestly, your comments grow more daft with each passing day.

User Thainess is just a ******* plonker winding people up....

Well I have the 20 year membership and this response makes me feel very misled. Assistance with driving license was a selling point I never thought I would be getting a two year temporary license.

I understand your frustration but in the end they never claimed that you are entitled to a "5 year temporary license" (or the 2 year version). In the end, it was you who interpreted it in a way you wanted the program to work for you. But I fully agree with you and possibly others that given the period the TE visa is valid for it should enable you to get the 5 year license. Very much doubt though that the current arrangement will ever change so I guess the only hope will be that on the day one applies for the license renewal that the officer (for whatever reason) hands out a 5 year version of the DL. I wouldn´t hold my breath though.....

I would also be a little wary of putting a lot of money in to long term rentals, buying vehicles etc when your here on no more than a Tourist visa.

Why should he "be wary" just because he´s here on TR visas? I mean, if he plans to stay many years here and is well below 50 and/or doesn´t want to pay for TE then TR visas might be his only options, won´t they?

Yes, there´s always risk with the visa regime but then again TiT and everything can change at any given moment. But it surely isn´t practical to only live by a "what happens if ..." philosophy.

Like many here i also feel the Pound will recover up to 50 within 1-2 years. The EUSSR is clearly a flawed project and leaving it can only help Britain's economy.  We can trade with the world on our terms and certainly for the next 4 years we will have the USA helping us. If the EUSSR want to play games it will hurt them more than us.  Anyway most countries want a low value currency. It's not good for expats but helps the country in question. That's why the PIGS are in the shit because they have to suffer a high value Euro (to help Germany).

I like your optimism and damn hope you´ll be right. I´ve still got a significant amount of Pound Sterling back in the UK which I hope I won´t need to transfer over to TH at the current shi**y FOREX rates anytime soon. A 50+ exchange rate would certainly mean a substantial amount of "extra" TBH to spend over here.

PS: The PIGS are not in the shi* because of the Euro. They´ve been in the **** for decades because of other factors, which to discuss here would be OT. Suffice to say that they (like all other non PIGS countries) have been spending more money than they "earned" and the Euro helped fueling that excessive binge spending by bringing down interest rates to a level they, the PIGS, would never have had the chance of borrowing money at when it was still the Lira, Drachme etc. How, as you say, a "high value" Euros helps an exporting nation like Germany, I don´t understand. But then again, I don´t pretend to be clever enough to grasp it all. You will surely know it better.

I've been using Flawless for a couple of months now and I've found it to be very reliable. (It's streets ahead of Ilikehd which I was using before) When there are occasional connection or buffering issues, I'm usually able to cure them by using a VPN. On my android devices Opera VPN is free and does the job.  This to suggests to me that the issue is not with Flawless but with my ISP or the Internet routing.

    Good info! Thanks!

ilikeHd are unwatchable for me and that's why I gave up on them.

Peace Country IPTV is much better and the football on SD is currently perfectly stable. However, HD and FHD are currently breaking up on channels like SkySport 1, the mio channels from Singapore as well as the TSN channels from Canada (and which all show the Everton game).

Are you saying the HD and FHD channels on flawless work without breaking up/buffering for you?

  9. 27 minutes ago, Digitalbanana said:

Same here, FHD is often a no go for me, but HD usually OK and SD nearly always OK. Depends on day tho, sometimes even SD buffers. Overall tho 90% satisfied so not complaining, but I keep another service on the go as well as an alternative and when one fails often the other works in case I want to watch something live.

Thank you, that´s very helpful!  Cheers!

  10. As Flawless has received some positive mention on this forum I´d like to ask a question about this service.

I am currently on a trial with "Peace Country IPTV" which has the identical channel list and I believe they are using the same sources/servers. My experience with "Peace Country" has been a mixed bag, really. Some channels, especially and surprisingly the US and CAN channels in particular have been brilliant both in HD and SD. But much to my and even the "webmaster´s" surprise the UK channel are much worse, with HD and FHD breaking up way too often to be watchable and the SD versions/channels being fairly stable but also breaking up from time to time. The guy in Canada said it should theoretically be the other way around but ok .... This morning I watched the NFL game live on CBS in glorious HD quality with only a very fe and very short hiccups only. After the game I switched to the BBC 1 HD channel and after a few minutes it started breaking up again. BBC 1 SD was ok, SkyNews HD seemed fine.

So, how is your experience with Flawless when used in Thailand? Do you experience the same "issues" when watching UK channels in HD?

Has anyone been refused their extra guess through the Priority lane ?

I travel internationally 3-4 times per year with my Wife and Son and have never had an issue with this in the past, my Wife and son simply accompany me through the Priority lane without any issues from Thai Elite. I'm not sure if this has changed in the last couple of months.

It hasn't changed as of yet. Due to be changed as of February, I believe. I posted the exact date a while ago...

My understanding is that Tlock was referring to problems about extensions based on marriage, not Tourist visa. I've used a number of Tourist visas before, it's a headache if you travel frequently and stay in Thailand. The TE option is still the best option in my opinion if you stay longer in Thailand, you are below 50 and not working.

I agree... when my second METV runs out this summer, I'll sign up to TE.

  13. I agree that taking your travel companion (whether he/she is Thai or not) would be nice but that has never been an official benefit of TE neither is it really " THAT" relevant. If you are one of the few TE members that regularly flies with your Thai wife/husband and you find it unacceptable or appalling for her not to enjoy TE privileges than just pay that 2000-ish baht or so that buys fast track service at BKK.

Yes and no :) พัท-ท-ยา Pat ta ya

The "T" is the end of a syllable and the start of the new syllable as i understand it, although i admit i am not  anywhere near perfect in the Thai language.

    Just checked online.......

    Thai language.com =  พัทยา  phatH thaH yaa

    Thai 2 english.com  พัทยาpát-tá-yaa

I second that.... At least that´s exactly how they´d pronounce it at a language school., when learning to read and write Thai.

hey all, just wanted to share my story, I am currently on my second METV, had no issues at all obtaining the visa sticker in my passport, however upon entering suvarnabhumi, I was grilled by the immigration officer, she asked me heaps of questions about my previous non thai visa, for exmaple I had a few vietnam and burma visas, it seemed like she was trying to find a reason to deny me! I was also traveling in business class so this was in the premium lane at immigration,

perhaps she just was having a bad day or maybe, are the authorities cracking down on people taking advantage of the METV by doing it back to back? as on my first METV I stayed a total of just under 9 months, then flew back to sydney, obtained another METV within one week then back to Thailand.

Can anyone else give some feedback for people who are on their second METV?

Interesting but obviously we will need to wait for a higher number of replies from those on their 2nd METV. I am myself on the second back-to-back METV and had no issues whatsoever when entering in Nov. I will fly out to KL this weekend and return to DMK on Sun so will then be able to report back if of interest to the community.
