Pattaya Airways’ maiden flight set to revolutionise Thai logistics
Ajarnbrian replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
“Revolutionise Thai logistics”, that’s quite a claim. No evidence of that. -
Foreigner and Thai woman get into heated argument on BTS (video)
Ajarnbrian replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
‘Move down inside the train, please’ in a polite but confident voice is enough. No need to use f word to others or the response may be different. Not that hard. -
Thai police dismantle Chinese call centre scam in Chiang Mai
Ajarnbrian replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Mai News
Good to see authorities targeting scammers. It’s a growing international menace that targets ordinary people who are not tech-savvy. Let’s applaud every effort to stop scammers. -
Do Thai men get jealous we take all the hot women?
Ajarnbrian replied to MalcolmB's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Educated, aware Thai men know the difference between bar girls, holiday girlfriends, mia noi and the genuine women who they might one day marry. It seems some foreigners in Thailand have not grasped this, even as their bank account gets emptied. -
British Man Allegedly Assaults Thai Village Manager
Ajarnbrian replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
You mean your petty prejudices and extreme stereotyping lead you to imagine that people from Britain “are always the same”. Well, in my experience Brits are certainly not always the same and it’s perverse to say they are. -
British Man Allegedly Assaults Thai Village Manager

Perhaps this Matthew is a supporter of ‘Tommy’? -
Well said joseph bloggs. Not smart to write such a headline with a story about a relatively minor, insignificant event.

“Why is Thai service so abysmal?” as a headline suggests this is general. Yet the story is a gripe focusing on one business. A sample of one or two does not warrant such a misleading headline.

The ridiculous amount of Public Holiday's in Thailand
Ajarnbrian replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
A bit out of touch - few weeks of paid holidays in Thailand and many working 6 day weeks. BTW it’s public holidays, not public holiday’s. -
Frozen pension policy turns British expat's dream into a nightmare
Ajarnbrian replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
UK state pension amount first depends on number of ‘contribution years’, 35 years needed (for those reaching pension age since 2016). Your pension should be increased yearly to allow for cost of living increases. But it has long been frozen if you’re not living in the UK or EU countries, or - wait for it - US, Philippines, Israel or Turkey. Yes, Philippines fine for getting your annual increase but not Thailand. Go figure. -
Anutin urges Phuket officials to get tough with foreign offenders
Ajarnbrian replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
‘Outbreak of law breaking by foreigners’, is surely an exaggeration if it involves less than 0.1% of the many thousands of foreign visitors in Thailand. Let’s see the offenders dealt with and deported, the vast majority of law abiding, respectful foreigners can support that. -
Thai doctor in Swiss expat case says she has ‘stress’
Ajarnbrian replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Reasonable response. The media attention and constant daily reminders can increase the stress felt. Unless this doctor has previous record of complaining (I’ve not read of any), there is no excuse for the ignorant comments here directed at her and Thai doctors generally. -
Thai doctor in Swiss expat case says she has ‘stress’
Ajarnbrian replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Would any person sitting on those steps reasonably believe there was a likelihood they would be kicked or pushed from behind? -
Thai doctor in Swiss expat case says she has ‘stress’
Ajarnbrian replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
The media attention of this case and daily reminders may indeed bring stress. And as a doctor she can recognise such symptoms. -
Again people owning potentially dangerous dog breeds without caring about what these dogs can do.

My wife’s Thai passport expired during Covid. To return from Australia to Thailand she got a Certificate from Thai Embassy Canberra and had to buy direct flight to Thailand to renew there. Flight back to Thailand no problem with that Cert and Thai passport renewal smooth and received next day (compared to Australia 6 weeks).

On this route both airlines have been fine for me over the years. Not had a cancellation but if there is, at least plenty of daily flights on a competitive route. On routes with only one or two flights a day, not so good if flight cancelled.

Thai AirAsia opposes airfare reductions due to operational costs
Ajarnbrian replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
‘Free market principles’ are fine when there is genuine competition, equal access to markets and airports. Oligopoly markets (often just Duopoly) are not competitive enough and don’t lead to the reasonable fares Thai customers are seeking at holiday times. AirAsia has a responsibility to look after customers better rather than overcharging. -
Swiss national opts for jail after assaulting Thai woman in mall
Ajarnbrian replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Behaving like that as a visitor to Thailand should result in prison and then deportation. It does not mean that other foreigners will behave that way.
