You clearly haven't been keeping up with the changes over the last 18 years. I'd suggest you spend a few hours using Google to get up to speed with the current rules. There's a useful topic on this subject here:

which also explains the best way to get in touch with the DWP up to 4 months before your 66th birthday to make the claim. I turn 66 next month and made the claim by phone around 6 weeks ago, with no problems and no more than a minute or two waiting to be connected.

    Same here

Find a different pool.  Otherwise, you're stuck with the discriminatory pricing as even the Thai justice system has ruled that price discrimination is perfectly Ok.  What con you do other than boycott. The more 'foreigners' you can get to boycott, the more leverage you'll have.
Discrimination is amoral and unjust.  Welcome to Thailand.

Hotels put their prices up in busy periods. If not happy just cancel and book somewhere else. 200 baht is the least of your problems during Songkran.

Where did I say it was a problem .. asked if anyone had heard of it ..

  5. Hey...has anyone else encountered the songkran tax. I know that hotels put up prices at certain times of year it it's normally stated at the time of booking

yesterday I booked hotel in jomtien in April price was given. But when the invoice was sent 200 baht had been added extra. As songkran tax without asking...I've been to Pattaya many times over this period ...never had this before...just asking if anyone else has..H

Going from Jomien, I used to pay 10 baht to the traffic lights at the crossroads between 2nd Road and Pattaya Nua and 20 baht if I was going further along 2nd Road.

Yes that's correct could go all along 2nd road now pay again after the lights .

All joking aside Harvey.....but first, you really should get someone to show you how to use the quote function et al because it looks hilarious.

When Brits say, "our money", I understand the sentiment but most often it comes from people who don't pay tax and have told HMRC that they live in Morecambe when really they live in Pattaya. That means they get paid pension increases, heating allowance, Xmas bonus etc etc. You see the hypocrisy. Anyway, I know that a fine upstanding fellow kike you would never do such things so all's good.

Ok mate apologies accepted ....Quote function Bah!! That's for techno's I'm a pen and paper man..I get nothing from UK except a pension which o had to wait a couple of years longer for tks to the wonderful British government..I'm declared as living here in Thailand no address in UK ..no benefits..no scam get sweet FA from them ...I'm an angel ask anyone in Soi 6. have a good day mate thanks for the banter..H
