Believe it or not, sometimes I actually know a thing or two. Back in 2020, everyone thought PLTR was a "meme" stock. Wall Street analysts were falling all over themselves laughing at a $35 valuation. They would tell anyone who would listen that the company was only a "consulting firm." The only thing those people understand is their spreadsheets. Their problem: they fail to recognize the huge disruptive potential of PLTR. I did, though. I knew what it was, and I had no problem whatsoever spending every spare cent I had picking up shares in the $6 to $10 range. I think I also bought some at prices up to $15. I knew the stock was going higher, I just didn't know when. Anyway, I sold some before the end of 2024 (LTCG) just to hedge my bet, although in retrospect, that was a mistake. It's all good at this point, regardless. Once again, let's revisit this issue in a year or two. Big $$$$ for anyone who can see the future. BTW, I still have some Bitcoin I bought at $1100, and a few other long term investments that keep on giving.

Believe what you want. You didn't understand a word I said. You equate Tesla to DJT stock? LOL. That tells me everything I need to know. Let's revisit the Tesla stock valuation in a few years. It probably won't take that long, but that's a good estimate. I should be buying now, although I already have a bunch. I guess I can't resist the temptation to time the market, and I think stocks may move lower before they move higher because of an impending debt market crisis, although usually, trying to time the market is a fools game.

I think you miss the point entirely, but that's OK. The general idea is to make money on Tesla Stock. Tesla the company, which could stop all car production and still, the stock would be worth many times more than it is today. The FSD technology can be leased out to companies around the world, including Uber. Robotaxis are coming as soon as this year. And the Optimus robots will be taking over human jobs sooner than anyone seems to realize. Fortunately for anyone buying the stock today, many on Wall Street seem to think Tesla is a car company, and that's why their customers will miss out. You seem to think that, as well. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Payment of Pattaya Electric Bill
jas007 replied to jas007's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I went to some different banks yesterday, trying to open a separate account strictly for bill payment. Kaisikorn would do it with some sort of tourist pay card that you can access through an app. But I tried to give them 30,000 baht cash and they wouldn't accept it. They said I had to deposit US dollars. Why they couldn't covert the Baht to Dollars and just take my money, I'm not sure, but the guy was insistent. Anyway, if the game is to always keep the account in US dollars, then that sort of defeats the purpose. If the dollars become worthless, then I have no momey in that account. None of the other banks knew what I was talking about, although one suggested I first needed to open an account there, and show them a work permit and a bunch of other nonsense. So, I decided to use my regular Kaisikorn account, but with a 20,000 baht daily withdrawal limit. That way, if someone hacked into the account, they couldn't do too much damage in any one day. So I downloaded the app, but then when I tried to set it up from home, it was only in Thai. So I guess I'll have to go back to my bank and have them help me with an English version and also set it up for the lower daily withdrawal limit. Thanks everyone for the help. -
It appears as though the Senate Democrats don't want to give Trump a year's reprieve on the debt ceiling, and so a US Government shutdown is in the works. The Republicans needed 60 votes to overcome cloture, and the votes aren't there. Looks like certain senators don't want the DOGE people looking into certain matters. For this on Social Security and Government pensions, those checks should continue uninterrupted.

Ukraine Backs U.S. Ceasefire Proposal, Awaiting Russian Response
jas007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Just remember, Trump isn't dealing with a fantasy world constructed by some delusional Neocons. He is at the table with Russia, and for Russia, any kind of missiles that are close enough to hit strategic targets within Russia are an existential threat, including any missiles that might be deployed by NATO or European forces. That's reality. Putin has been saying that for years, and he means it. That's the reality that Trump will have to accept. Russia won the war. It's over, except for mopping up the mess. The real trouble is yet to come. The Middle East. That's a real powder keg, and unfortunately, it's a big problem. -
In the long run, we're all dead. In the meantime, if I can double or triple or quadruple my Tesla investment in a year, I'm a happy camper. I see Cathie Wood jumped in early the past few days. PLTR also, I see. That was a home run for me the last few years. Bought tons in the $6 to $10 range. I knew it was a winner, but I wasn't expecting so much so soon. Anyway, it's working out well.

Supposedly, the New Model Y has more orders than they can fill over in China. As for money from the taxpayer? They can cut out the tariffs. It won't bother Musk. He can make cars cheaper than the competition. He doesn't need tariffs. As for people around the world? No one cares, really. Let them make their own stuff if they think they can.

Could Trump's plan fail in a spectacular fashion?

Eisenhower first warned of the Military Industrial Complex. By the time the Vietnam war got started, they called it the Domino Theory. Kennedy was likely assassinated because he wanted to put an end to that war. -
Ukraine Backs U.S. Ceasefire Proposal, Awaiting Russian Response
jas007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I looked it up. The real reason Trump did this during his first term likely had a lot to do with the fact that, like today, he has surrounded himself with people who are intent on continuing the Neocon fantasy of the endless war. John Bolton back in 2018, and Rubio, today. Anyway, the sooner Trump gets rid of Rubio, the better. I suspected be was trouble from day one. As for missiles in Poland? Look at it this way: Russia won't stop the war until it is safe from missiles that can attack strategic assets in Russia. If necessary, Russia will continue the war to the point of eliminating Ukraine as a nation state, and will move on to Poland, if necessary. Bottom line: the Neocons surrounding Trump have got to go. The alternative is more killing for no good reason. -

I think that was done during Trump's first term. I'm not sure of the circumstances or the reasoning. -
Ukraine Backs U.S. Ceasefire Proposal, Awaiting Russian Response
jas007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
You can bet that there will be no NATO troops of any kind. Russia absolutely needs security. Do you understand why? There used to be short and intermediate range missile treaties that Trump cancelled. That left Russia at the mercy of whatever missiles NATO might place in Ukraine within striking distance of Russia strategic assets in Russia. For them, it's an existential issue and it's going to be done their way. As for England and France and their pledge of billions to fight Russia? Everyone knows that's a joke. They don't have the money and they don't have the troops. It's over. -

jas007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I'm not sure if I've replied to this topic, but I'm pretty sure Russia won't agree to any kind of ceasefire unless there's an actual deal that gives Russia the security it wants. In this context that means no NATO in Ukraine and no European troops in Ukraine, regardless of what costumes they're wearing. AndI'm pretty sure Russia won't make any deal with Zelenskyy at this juncture. He's not a legitimate president, is he? Anyway, that's my take. There'll be a deal on Russia's terms or there will be no deal. Trump knows the war is over, and he wants the killing to stop. -
Musk: Kiss Your Social Security Goodbye, Grandma!

Of course, Snopes is hardly a credible source for debunking anything. -
Have you tried ordering from Amazon? It might be the kind of thing you can make yourself, though. Anyway, a while back I was looking for some toothpaste that didn't have fluoride, but I'm not sure I can up with anything that worked that didn't also allow the stains to build up. The simple answer is to get your teeth cleaned every six months like they want you to. And while you're there, ask the dentist about staining. The stuff I tried, Dentiste' didn't seem to really do the job.

Supposedly, that money is going out and someone is receiving it. I'm sure if there''s anything to it, we'll find out. Some people seem to think that the money was never really paid, but that the programing language used internally at SSA is coded in such a fashion for the sake of simplicity. COBOL? -

I read so much stuff everyday, it's hard to remember. Sometimes, I do take sort of a mental note of something important. though. In all likelihood, it came from Elon Musk's team or Marjorie Taylor Green's DOGE subcommittee. I'm sure if it's true, we'll all hear more about it soon. -
Could Trump's plan fail in a spectacular fashion?
jas007 replied to spidermike007's topic in Political Soapbox
Then again, we can see new highs next month. If all you guys are correct that Trump will wreck the economy and destroy the dollar, then the money looking for yield will not want cash. And they will not want bonds with a negative yield. That money will now to the stock market, for example, where they trade real assets. Real companies returning real yields. Dividends and capital gains. -
Ukrainian forces lose access to Maxar satellite

And it keeps getting better and better. According to the new Treasury Secretary, they think they can establish a paper trail back to payments received by various members of congress. So, despite all the shell companies and other ways they disguise money transfers, they may be in big trouble. -

And don't forget Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Mitch McConnell. DOGE wants to look into how they got their millions, as well. That would be fun to watch. -

Not wild accusations. Do the math. Maybe I will, and come back with some numbers. -
Could Trump's plan fail in a spectacular fashion?
jas007 replied to spidermike007's topic in Political Soapbox
Of course both parties share the blame. Wasn't it Ronald Reagan who first thought of "Starving the Beast"? At least that was the plan. Ask David Stockman. Anyway, voodoo economics aside, Reagan soon changed his tune. And ever since, the plundering of the federal treasury has continued. Trillions flying out the door, much of for nebulous causes. If you put everyone in congress in jail who somehow lined their pockets in the process, would there be any of them left? -

jas007 replied to simple1's topic in Political Soapbox
It's being billed as some sort of "shuttle diplomacy." Trump's negotiators negotiating with Putin and Zelenskyy separately, with Rubio overseeing it all. I do worry about Rubio, though. So far, he's trying to do his job and support the President, but he's also a Neocon and faces tough choices ahead with the situation in the Middle East. That's where we'll find out who really controls US foreign policy. Israel, or the USA. And that's where WWIII will likely begin. Not in Ukraine. In the Middle East. The Ukrainian war is over. Trump and Putin are just cleaning up the mess at this point. -

Do the math, especially on some of the more recent members of congress, such as AOC. She was a bartender, and then was elected to congress with a salary of less than $200K. And now she's worth millions. Nobody trades stocks that well. It's not mathematically possible.
