  1. my friend (Thai lady) is a directory of a company that owns some land valued at about 2M baht. other directors are farang. they all want to transfer to her name and dissolve the company.

she's heard that the company cannot 'sell' the land to her because she's a director. is this true? if true would have to transfer to a third party first (her sister) then back to her which would be 2x tax i assume.

assuming have to do something like this, what are the likely taxes and fees? i read 2% is basic transfer tax but 3.3% for company transfer, but don't know if that's only into a company or if applies out of company also.

also i see there is a .5% stamp duty.

i think maybe a way to avoid the double transfer is for the Thai director to transfer her shares to her sister first, then hopefully no problem with the company transfer back to the former Thai director in one step.

any thoughts and ways to avoid a lot of taxes? thanks

  2. hi all, i am trying to help my girlfriend's sister who has 2 kids from her English husband. he is in UK, no plans to come here, and is not been particularly helpful since they are heading towards divorce

i found this on line https://www.keyvisathailand.com/services/babies-first-uk-passport/

which looks simple enough except getting the fathers passport and birth certificate may be a problem.

any advice about how to proceed?

    thanks

  3. anyone had any luck with peppers and tomatoes?

i just bought some seeds from lazada, jalapeno, sweet pepper and an Italian tomato

    https://www.lazada.co.th/products/jalapeno-pepper-seed-70-100-i341232240-s661932737.html

i'm going to grow in bags with local potting soil which is mulched up coconut and leaves and stuff. also add composted coffee grounds and egg shells and bananas

i thinking should use shade cloth but like to hear opinions from someone who's has success.

any other tips? fish heads? etc?

BTW, i'm in the islands so hot and humid all year but not crazy hot like essan/chiang mai

I came across the bridge today, I preregisted with the gophuket app and had my QR code ready, I also registered with the Thai Chana app.  When I arrived at the checkpoint, the officer just waived me through, no questions, not temperature check, no scanning the QR code, just a simple hand gesture to go on through.

That said, I did see 10 to 15 civilians off to the side of the building doing something. I did not stop and ask what they were doing.  So maybe the stops are random and I just got lucky today??

ok, good to know. i registered with the app but since you have to select a time, i doubt i'll actually make it at the exact time selected.

I was really hoping to find someone who completed the Sarasin Bridge crossing today to share first hand information.

me too, i'm waiting to hear from someone who has actually driven across country and got onto the island, before i go anywhere

  6. so what about driving from surat now? i guess no need to register with apps and all that nonsense?

why is phuket news not reporting anything about this?

Steve2112, I have also applied to enter Phuket via the same APP, applied 2 days ago but also haven’t received a response.

I also made 2 bookings as the first one came back with an error for the tel number, possibly due to me inputting  +66 at the beginning.

Im considering taking the chance and head to the checkpoint at the requested date & time. Worse case I get turned away and I go to Samui.

    any update?

I have had a couple of expensive flip up helmets and I didn't like them. Really useless for me because in the heat here it's open face for me or nothing, even though full face so much safer. I find the flip ups don't balance well and are heavy on the front so ok to flip up and talk to someone but you couldn't ride in flip up mode. Feels like your head wants to fall down. I got a Bilmola open face about 2000 baht but fully specced to USA / European standards. Like an old school Bell. Very comfortable helmet at a good price, bought it from a Yamaha dealer

i had a flip up helmet for my 10,000km epic journey around Mexico last year, but i agree, hot and heavy. i go old school open face with sun glasses now

That's quite an interesting post, what a coincidence....! I bought a Forza 2016 last year, I'm in Phuket and been to Koh Samui and Hua Hin this Feb and Mar...!!! I was in Koh Samui twice last year, and many times to Ao Nang and Krabi. We go on a trip with my friend whenever we can and the weather is good. But now can't get out of Phuket and also rainy season is up on us - I hate riding in rain, it's far more dangerous, not just due to me, but many other idiots on the road who don't understand wet surfaces...!

For your info I flew to Pattaya,  bought my bike and rode it back to Phuket, in a relax 3 days trip. I found a good deal.... Be careful buying in Phuket, I searched a lot and test drove many Forzas here,  most were ex-rentals and abused, and with a high asking price....

I confirm everything the guys mentioned, it's a great bike, a few niggles but not major. If you find a low mileage in good condition it will go forever. Just find a good mechanic, I found Honda repair shops a bit useless.

As for heat, no problem at all 4 or 5 hours under the hottest sun, you don't feel it at 100kph. Just cover your body,  nothing should be exposed. I only recommend not put anything sensitive to temperature or electronics under the seat,  lots of space there but after a few hours it gets extremely hot in there - the only heat issue. The engine is liquid cooled, no matter what you do it stays as cool as cucumber...

I did not add or change anything on mine but for a long trip a taller windshield is a good idea. Unfortunately Honda no longer sells their own oem tall one, but there are many alternatives, much cheaper.

Ask me if you have any other question, but you never regret buying a Forza for touring... And the new model or Xmax are just similar engines and performance, maybe a bit different in shape but would it warrant paying so much more - not if you ask me...!

Ah, one last thing, buy 2016 or 2017 models, the older versions had a few recalls, then you never know if it was fixed or not (unless you buy from the original owner), there were corrected I think mid 2015 or so.

awesome, maybe when things get back to normal we can meet up for a bike ride, phuket, samui/kpn, hua hin is my golden triangle. i agreed a deal with the seller and buying this tomorrow

    https://www.bahtsold.com/view/update-beauty-for-sale-honda-forza-388536

the owner had it from new, never rented and always taken care of.

i looked at a new one yesterday for 173,000, very nice but rather keep the 110,000 in my bank, not honda's

  10. no update on status yet, it just says รอพิจารณา which means wait for approval

the other form i guess is only for migrant workers.

if i get an approval, i'll post the reply on here, if not, i guess i need to stay put in ko phangan for a while longer.

by the way, i made the first booking about 8am to come back on Wednesday, then i realized that didn't give me much time to prepare if i don't get a reply until tomorrow. so i made a second booking about an hour later for Thursday and the filing number when up by about 450

    P100010819

    รอพิจารณา

    P100010388

    รอพิจารณา

so seems there is a lot of people using this

  11. i just read this https://www.thephuketnews.com/only-urgent-matters-will-allow-passage-onto-island-phuket-police-chief-76085.php

i'm hoping to drive to phuket this week

so i just registered here https://www.gophuget.com/register/v2/forigner?typeID=0

you have to select arrival date and time which is a bit of a pain as i'm driving and can't guarantee the exact time of arrival

and now i have to wait for approval, which i hope comes early tomorrow since i also need to do several other things.

anyhow, has anyone used this app yet?
