He doesn't have to go to immigration if he has a yellow book . But if he's being difficult don't buy it . There's tons of bikes where you live.
i'll check if he has a yellow book. yes the guy is stubborn but its a nice looking bike and a reasonably good deal. i'm in surat right now myself and no other bikes i can find that i like here.

Depends where OP is...Pattaya requires a residence letter from a Foreign seller....
i live in phuket and the bike is registered in phuket although the seller lives in surat thani

so the guy i want to buy from is on retirement extension, he has TM30 up to date etc but says he does not want to go to immigration to get any additional paperwork.
is it necessary to get a letter from imm these days or will retirement extension and TM30 do?
-
my understanding is if i buy a bike from a farang and he doesn't have a WP, he needs to get a letter from immigration. is that still correct and is that even possible now the immigrations offices are mostly closed i think.

great , thanks to all, i agree about the early start thing, i would probably get going at 5:30am and try to be done by noon

thanks, yep, that's the problem i have with 'real' bikes, the engine heat on your legs or even worse in traffic is too much.

i'm thinking of buying a 2016 forza 300 for longer trips like phuket to samui or even phuket to hua hin.
i've test driven one and it feels very comfortable and powerful compared to my PCX but interested to hear from anyone how has toured extensively on a Forza.
i've toured 10,000km in Mexico on a CBR500X before which was great but i want a low seat automatic now. my main concern is the heat frankly, i ride a bike every day but mostly short trips and use the car for longer trips so not sure how i feel about been out in the sun on a bike all day.
thx

Murder island strikes again. No chance I would ever go there.
best you stay in a place that never has murders then, how is Antarctica this time of year?

i checked at the amphur here in koh phangan and they said all i need is a medical certificate from kpn hospital and they can give me a letter to travel.
thing is i don't fancy riding a bike back, i'd rather my wife came to pick me up at donsak ferry terminal in the car, but not sure she can leave phuket because she has a phuket address. we are trying to find that out.
-
so it turns out i can get into phuket if my wife picks me up at the bridge with the marriage certificate. so now the trick is finding a way to the bridge.

thanks, you are right, i did have $12 in interest on a US account and an IRA distribution, so that was all i needed to get turbo tax to work

I recommend that you overstate the interest income from a real bank account enough to create a small tax liability which you direct the IRS to take from your US bank account. The IRS already has all that 1099-INT from the banks. They will take the small payment from your bank account and by and by, compare it to your 1099-INT from the same bank after which they will inform you that you have overpaid and refund the overpayment. In the meantime the IRS will have your bank info.
You can e-file for free on the turbotax website or on the IRS's own website. Duckduckgo is your friend.
thanks, turbotax required you to have W2 income i think, but will try another free one

does anyone know of a place i can email a US tax return to, have them print it and mail it to the IRS?
i can't file electronically because i have $0 income for 2019
thanks

i'm stuck in Ko Phangan at the moment, debating coming home but don't want to get in a mini bus so thinking of driving my friend's Wave 125 back, that would be fun! if corona does get me a sore behind will.
