  1. When I first came to Thailand I had never rode a motorcycle before. The first 8 months or so that I was here I used a scooter in order to get used to things such as balance, braking, clutch. Afterwards I was able to ungrade to a CBR250 which I believe is a great starter bike but unfortunately after about 6 months I had outgrown it as my riding had improved dramatically. I have now upgraded to a Kawasaki Ninja 650 which I believe I have also outgrown after my first year owning it. Now thinking about either an 800 or 1000 but the biggest hold back for me at the moment is that most of the main roads in my area are kind of crap and can be very dangerous.

To answer your question I personally think either a Cbr300 or Ninja300 are both perfect starter bikes.

    Good luck and good riding.

  2. Isnt it just a bit strange that if you have a few visa exempt stamps you may not be allowed in the country? Yes I know it is because people will go, come back and work illegally but surely that is why there should be checks on companies to take care of such things. If someone is coming into the country and being totally legit why shouldnt he be allowed in? He will be spending when he is here. Just seems that the companies can do as they want and it is the foreigners who have to suffer

The abuse of visa exempt entries rose to epidemic proportions resulting in restrictions being placed on their use.

How would you suggest that millions of companies, businesses, and small traders be checked for illegal workers?. Best to prevent (or at least reduce the numbers) of those entering.

Partially due to the 36000+ schools continuing to employ teachers without the correct visa and wp knowing perfectly well it is illegal.

  3. Now isn't that a great way to promote tourism.

Friends come here for a one week holiday to Pattaya. Out having some fun in a nightclub when 100 police officers decide to take you and your friends to the station because you are not carrying your most important possession in the city of crime all the while not having even broken a single law.

The police here are an utter disgrace.

  4. Now with ASEAN upon Asia the days of the NES are pretty much numbered. You will see more and more Filipinos coming to Thailand to teach at a much lower salary and schools will be more than happy to accept them over the foreigners who stay for a few weeks and then leave or come to work hung over. As lostinisaan has stated they are "friendlier",don't complain and actually do a very good job.

Lets not forget they at least make an effort to learn the language.

  5. so are these leaders saying they are going to instruct people on how to vote ?

that is really democratic - right

Your parents or friends never recommended to you who you should vote for in your home country.

    No. Why would they?

At age 18 I was in the military and I figured that if I was old enough to fight for my country I was old enough to decide who I wanted to vote for.

Under that age I never had a vote.

I don't recall referring to you when I asked smedly the question.

  6. Anytime I've been told to dispose of any item at an airport checkpoint in Thailand I've made it a point to empty all the contents in the bin before disposing of the packaging all the while smiling at the lady standing by the bin.

Not sure why you would be so smug. It would show greater smarts to follow the simple guidelines on what can and cannot be taken hand luggage.
Like i would have known that taking 100ml of unopened hair gel or toothpaste could be used to blow up an airplane.

    My name's Ray, Not McGyver.
