  1. Unfortunately we can't fight inevitability or the future, I suspect I am not the only one who will vote for him if I was actually in the UK looking at the current polling situation. That Starmer guy I can't really relate to, knighted, a former director of public prosecutions in the UK - I think he would have been better off staying with that rather than diversify into politics.
  2. J6 stuff freedom of speech the police got in the way of that - I am definitely playing devils advocate now 🙂 The UK has had its share of riots also, if citizens feel hard done by they are going to do something about it, justifiably so in most cases as long as it doesn't deteriorate into murder with J6 it never the police should just let the citizens have the say isn't hat part of the First Amendment? The UK 2011 riots didn't didn't result in any murder or even manslaughter charges, there might have been a few breaches of the peace 🙂
  3. I had to AI this on ChatGPT so not all my own work 🙂 but sort of the answer I expected, in any history that any of us will remember Biden has issued more pardons than all previous presidents combined. If I was from the US 100% I would have voted for Trump, and if I go back to the UK for a holiday I will vote for Nigel Farage. Important to note for Biden "marking the largest single-day act of clemency in U.S. history" Including modern times who are the presidents who have issued the most pardons when they have left office? In modern times, several U.S. presidents have issued significant numbers of pardons and commutations, particularly during their final days in office: Joe Biden: In December 2024, President Biden granted clemency to approximately 1,500 nonviolent offenders, marking the largest single-day act of clemency in U.S. history. He also commuted the sentences of nearly 2,500 individuals convicted of nonviolent drug offenses, setting a record for the highest number of individual pardons and commutations by any president. AP News Donald Trump: On his final full day in office in January 2021, President Trump issued 116 pardons and commutations. Upon returning to office in January 2025, he pardoned approximately 1,500 individuals involved in the January 6 Capitol attack. Pew Research Center Texas Standard Bill Clinton: On his last day in office in January 2001, President Clinton granted 177 pardons and commutations, a move that attracted considerable controversy. Pew Research Center George H.W. Bush: In December 1992, shortly before leaving office, President Bush pardoned six individuals involved in the Iran-Contra affair, including former Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger. Wikipedia These actions highlight the significant use of presidential clemency powers, particularly in the closing days of administrations.
  4. That's a fair point given the amount of funding Trump has indicated he is going to put into AI. The Farage and Musk spat is also a fair point. I have worked in computers at a high level all my life and never really give a sh....t about politics but when you have a newly elected president, Elon Musk walking around like a lost child at a wedding during the inauguration and Donald Trump talking about Mars in his Inauguration speech and at his first press conference valuing TikTok at 1 billion dollars that the American government should be entitled to half of concerns me where business meets politics. However the policies he has indicated he will enact with many of his executive orders that everyone knew he was going to sign when he sat in that chair sound reasonable to me. No respect for Joe Biden whatsoever, Donald Trump could have pardoned himself from everything when he left office last time but he didn't that will be Bidens legacy.
  5. There is no doubt Brexit messed things up for me personally with exchange rates etc not being resident in the UK for nearly 2 decades, however the idea of Brexit was sound, it's like going to the Gym, if there is no pain then there is no gain. Longer term I can't see any future leader in the Labour or Conservative party that could get the country back on track. I may sound right wing in some of my statements but I am far from that, the reform party on all my research is by far the best option to the 2 standard parties all UK people have been ingrained in their life to vote for. It's time for change and fix the major issues with the country and start taking care of the UK rather than trans, immigrant, criminal, wars in other countries we pay for etc etc etc What is the saying charity begins at home 'Sir' idiot doesn't seem to think that, Boris sort of got it but was held back I think, definitely time for change, then I'll go to the UK for a holiday via France on a Dinghy.
  6. Hahahahahaha I stopped typing what I was going to type about it would be nothing new - I will shut up now
  7. Also Kudos for the RTP the 4th person they have arrested after the EDC concert in Phuket that 300,000 people attended where a couple of 'foreign' people died (they needed to show they were doing something about it) and the possession charges haven't reached 5 yet looking at the media reports which should be fairly accurate as we all know how much those RTP love to get in a photograph of a good 'catch'
  8. Love this one - everyone's a winner @Prubangboy the only condition I would make is to ensure the people smugglers in France only send the good looking ones and I might go back to the UK for a holiday 🤣
  9. Hahaha I am actually tongue-tied 🙂 I am not going to Google or AI anything with this. Apart from mention the populist theme that he appeals to those that feel disenfranchised with current and previous governments. Private school cool - I went to one of those, stockbroker could be forgiven for. At least he is not an Oxford or Cambridge educated Muppet that think they rule the world! How much does a prime-minister that is called 'Sir' appeal to your average citizen that is wondering if they will have a job next week as some immigrant who is cheaper will take it from them?
  10. I think with Trumps new immigration policies it will decrease the available of resources to "Make Love and Not War" for lefties and righties alike to get a bit of relief for a night - coming to the UK from France they just have better Dinghy's and less military on the border so a possible reason for a UK migration but wouldn't do it until a sensible party is in power 🤪
  11. Yeah fighting on a street corner sounds sketchy, unless it is a Katoey that has happened to me before (it was over a bar bill I had already paid before the haters chip in 555) but fairly sure he/she is not on AN 🙂
  12. That brings me onto a secondary question after I started this topic, guys bantering as much as we do (me not so much as am low on the post front) how many guys have met up with their friendly virtual adversaries on TV or AN in the past 🙂 I think if you can have a reasonable banter with someone virtually and it doesn't get too personal then those people would probably make quite good acquaintances in the 'real world' Thoughts?
  13. Hi @Briggsy very good point and worded correctly, in the initial topic post I did say "Long term residents" if you I or anyone else stays in Thailand longer than 180 days in a year we are legally considered a resident. Obviously not citizenship I could only imagine how difficult those hoops are to jump through! Totally correct on the ILR in the UK I think my aim on this post was best was said by @NoDisplayName one of the previous posters it doesn't matter how much we know about this country, how many 'friends' we have Thai (authority or not) or Farang we are mostly all (there will be some exceptions) on an Annual renewable tourist visa.
  14. Possibly because you have a love of frogs;)
  15. There will be a few male inmates welcoming the fresh meat 🙂 why were men housed in a women's prison anyways? In the unlikely event I got banged up for anything I'd put lipstick on grow my hair and declare my human rights and say I want to go to the women's prison probably much more fun there for a man. At the end of the day most of them are in there for a serious crimes so I reckon they should shut up whinging and just accept the fact they are biologically male Probably a polarising point but Trump and that Harry Potter writer have inspired me 🙂
  16. Yep, top detective work by the RTP, walking into the sea with a broken ankle and being hit by an imaginary boat propeller, and then sustained all the further injuries identified in the Netherlands independent examination must have been a mammoth task! It's similar to the RTP catching 3 people in possession of dr*gs at that EDC festival in Phuket that 300,000 people were expected to attend, I think Sherlock Holmes should have been filmed in Phuket 🙂
  17. Or moved in with said hooker 🤪
  18. True @Briggsy I recall that one also about the young welsh backpacker, just goes to show how beneficial UK politicians are also i.e. lets talk about it in the Commons so that it looks like we care. The only one that got reasonable traction was the unfortunate events that happen with Hannah and David on DI, and even parts of their family don't think they got the right people but again another whole can of worms that one. Again worth mentioning I know we are discussing this and again I do honestly hope that this family gets the closure they deserve, but like a few people here with long term knowledge of how the authorities deal with things might be a reach. I do think the 100k euro reward might help things, somebody knows something and that amount of money most people here would sell their own grandmother for!
  19. Yeah @Briggsy that's why I edited my post to clarify I didn't want to sound like an idiot 🙂 agree completely, I used to live in Phuket and there are many times I was aware Bangkok plod used to come up and sort of audit the local police, so if they could escalate it to a more senior agency within the RTP with government oversight would definitely move things along. I am guessing with the publicity of this huge reward something similar to that might happen
  20. Agree with this @Lacessit and I was being slightly flippant earlier when I said I only learned it for the numbers so the x-wife didn't rob me, partially true though 🙂 Unless you live in a bar drinking beer every day (even living in a bar you would learn some Thai) then I think it is respectful to be able to speak a little bit of Thai and generally I have found even if you are not fluent or great at Thai, it is amazing how much Thai people appreciate that you have taken time to learn a little of their language, sometimes you have to have slightly thicker skin I think as you might get a couple of giggles, but not usually in a bad way!
  21. The case can never be taken over by another international law body, investigations or arrests can only be carried out by Thai authorities with the 'assistance' of foreign law enforcement bodies. Foreign law enforcement agencies are allowed to request investigation and extradition but can not be involved any more than that other than provide the Thai authorities information to assist in their own investigation. EDITED: @Briggsy did you mean national within Thailand or International?
  22. I'm guessing someone either in the authorities or living here Thai or expat is having a twitchy bum at the moment with that amount of cash being offered for information. This quote below though about the Oz tourist, no mention if it was followed up in any detail but guessing it doesn't take Columbo to know where to start. Sylvano would probably have been put under a bit of scrutiny as it would detract from giving Thailand a bad name. Wish the best of luck to his family on closure and all reports available (I am sure there are more that aren't) certainly doesn't point towards suicide as ruled by the RTP.
  23. A true hero @sandyf I don't think any of the posters would disagree with that one.
  24. There are many more things to factor into the equation totally agree, like volumes of that genders drink etc (can't believe how politically correct I am being) The length of the contract and what the deal looks like on the face of things 🙂
