If by visa you mean a sticker or stamp issued by a Thai Embassy overseas, then it cannot be transferred. You just keep both passports until the visa has expired. If you actually mean an Extension of Stay ("admitted until...') stamp, issued at a point of entry into Thailand or an Immigration office in Thailand, you need to get the stamp transferred.

No. There is no charge for the service. They give you the form when you get your queue ticket. I don't think it's downloadable.

UK passports are issued by HMPO in Liverpool. What difference does it make using the Embassy (still issued by HMPO) or the VFS office (still issued by HMPO) to check and forward the documentation to the UK?

VFS have an office in Phuket but you'll need to check that it can be used for UK passport renewals and that it isn't just for UK visas. Passport renewals are dealt with by HMPO while visas are dealt with by UKVI. The UK.gov website only lists two offices in Thailand for passport renewals (Bangkok and Chiang Mai), although it could be out of date! Making your application You must apply in person. If you’re unable to, someone else can go on your behalf. You must bring photo ID with you. Bring original supporting documents and a colour photocopy of each one. The original documents will be returned to you. You must also bring your current passport with you when you apply, and a full colour photocopy of the entire passport (every page including blank pages). You can’t travel with it after you’ve applied for a new one - but you will be able to keep your existing passport for ID purposes. You’ll need to book an appointment by email. Include your first name and last name and 3 alternative dates and times. You will receive an email confirming your appointment. I have a TM30 slip stapled in my passport, after my landlord registered me when we moved to Rayong in 2022. I've successfully done online 90-day reports. I travel around Thailand a lot (mainly to Bangkok) and stay at hotels, where presumably they submit my passport details for their TM30 reporting. I've never made a new TM30 report at home, following a stay in another province. My question is: what does Immigration's computer show as my most recent TM30? Does it show the most recent hotel TM30, or the original TM30 with my home address that was submitted in my home province and which is stapled in my passport?

Pay/tip them well and most will be up for it, even if they don't enjoy it much! All in a night's work.

If he's buying them lots of ladydrinks and tipping them well, they won't mind him snogging them - especially if he barfines them as well.
