  1. It wouldn't be politically popular in the UK. I doubt even Labour would back it. Not a lot of sympathy for "rich" expats who've retired abroad from the general UK population.
  2. No soapies in the UK (that I know of) but a Thai "massage" will set you back about £50 for an hour.
  3. To be fair, bar girls and massage workers have to work very long hours and sometimes have to do unpleasant things to make money! I would expect them to make more than a Brit on a State pension!
  4. Because now people have easy access social media to complain on.
  5. Unless they do find evidence and shut the place down which also happens.
  6. Walking Street is one street in Thailand - no one has said there is no prostitution in Thailand.
  7. Where is this "proof" you mention? Prostitution is and always has been part of Thai culture. Many Thai males lose their virginity to prostitutes.
  8. No sarcasm. I'm a Labour voter and would much prefer Mayor Khan to any Tory, especially after Boris. He's a popular figure in London with the majority. Personally, I hanker after the days of Red Ken and the GLC.
  9. Good grief I doubt the Scots or Welsh would be celebrating an English saint (even if he was never English!).
  10. Correct, but these guys were demonstrably thuggish. I would think those with nationalistic views are happy to be labelled 'right-wing', and wouldn't find the label offensive. I may be wrong.
  11. A huge success, perhaps for the first time since Covid. Bigger and better next year I would think!
  12. Why would he expect any of his money back? It's hardly surprising the relationship didn't work out but he got what he wanted (the old pervert). I suspect if he continues to hang around the village causing problems he will get what's coming to him - and it won't be his money back!
  13. Good grief. Surely more important things to worry about! The UK's gone crazy.
  14. It's certainly the way things are going here. Fantastic if you can pay that way, but frustrating if you're still a 'cash only' person.
  15. Indeed it is profoundly depressing that Biden hasn't been replaced by Gavin Newsom or Michelle Obama. There is, however, still time.
  16. Yes, there are always going to be accidents over long holiday periods that involve a lot of drinking.
  17. And what does this possibly have to do with the topic of this thread? Keep your Islamophobia to yourself; you've already made a fool of yourself on the Sydney stabbings thread!
