Good grief, I find it difficult to believe that they were unaware of the UK's Visa requirements. I think 99.9% of UK expatriates are well aware - and 100% of those who use this Forum. Seems like the BBC are just trying to make a fuss.

Why not just rejoin? Ok, I realise that would be impossible at the moment. But it's going to happen within the next 2-3 decades. Starmer's taking 'baby steps' towards closer integration. The generational change will speed it up. 🇪🇺

The minimum age to work in a bar is 18. To drink in a bar is 20. The minimum age for prostitution is also 18.

Only some aspects of prostitution are illegal in Thailand, just like in the UK. The act of paying for sexual services is not in itself illegal. Prostitution is regulated under various Acts of Parliament.

Here we go again... They checked Walking Street and confirmed no prostitution was taking place because it wasn't. Gogo bars and beer bars are not 'prostitution' unless they provide rooms for it to take place in. Presumably any such rooms were closed! Barfining someone and taking them home or to a hotel is not illegal. Now, if they'd said the same thing about 'no prostitution ' in soi 6, you would have a point!

Don't worry, bar fines are legal, as is paying for sex in private. No refunds.

Silly comment. Prostitution is, and always has been, part of Thai culture and is currently regulated under different pieces of legislation. Completely decriminalising all aspects of it would be the change.

I've been teaching English as a foreign language in Thailand for nearly 20 years, with an annual Extension based on work and a work permit and do fine, thanks. Enough to support my wife and child. Quite why you think it can't be done long term, I have no idea! You're completely out of touch.
