Current reports of rejection even with entry from tv or visa exempt.
Also various offices requiring nonsense, such as Hua Hin asking for embassy letter.
CW asking for outbound flight and others just straight up NO..
Did ubonjoe suggest covid extensions will be extended again? Till May 25.
I haven't seen that.
I asked him directly in another thread. He said one word, "Yes."
Obviously some immigration officers do not want this stuff to continue, but its the government that will decide. When the chinese tourists start coming back thats when you need to be worried.

What is the deal with getting tourist visas now? I know pre-covid we had go apply at an embassy then pickup the next day, but now everything is all online? So does it even matter what city you do a visa run to?

They still do them but only but only if a person entered visa exempt or with a tourist visa.
Are you expecting extension to may 25? I just dont see how late march anything will be different. The government seems to want this to continue while immigration comes up with every excuse not to.
-
what visa did you enter on?
-
I got one for 1900 baht on 27 Jan with my covid extension expiring 25 Feb. They did a 15 day waiting period to get the actual stamp, i really dont like that. They said next time you go bangkok if you dont want to wait. So i think extension until 25 May likely. Then I would say 25 July questionable and 25 September doubtful.

5and half hour expensive flight, not to mention requirements to reenter Thailand.....
I wouldn't call that much of a visa run.
Why wouldn't you be eligible for covid extension.
I thought I would be as a tourist but i have already used many of them plus you got people saying on that facebook group its only 10 days now?

Suggest you chill and wait for first hand reports regarding covid extensions.
I guess thats all we can do at this point. Regardless i am preparing to do a visa run just in case. I am thinking nonstop to South Korea.

so for the people here since covid on tourist visas, is it 10 or 60 days?
I did not see anything about 10 days but i am using google translate not sure if accurate.
-
For the chiang mai folks out there do they give you 60 days from day of application or 60 days added to your expiration? This is my first covid extension in chiang mai.

Phuket.
First we inquired in the room where they handle STV / long term visas, they said "yes of course you can get Covid extension for STV, just go upstairs"... On 2nd floor it was standard Covid extension procedure (I do it for my parents all the time), 3 forms, 1 photo, all signed passport copies + TM30, done in 1 hour, back 3 weeks later for "2nd stamp" (before it was 1 week later, now it's 3).
glad it was no hassle for you. did they give you 60 days from date of application or add 60 days to your expiration?
also did they mention further covid extensions?
-
I already did the same with a covid extension on top of an stv.
But I am wondering about converting to a non-O visa, my agent said they can do it a few months ago but now they say its not possible and we have to wait and see. Has anyone found someone willing to do it?

No surprise , we need a KISS plan, Keep it Simple Stupid. Look at Mexico and some other countries. They are are actually OPEN, come on in and enjoy yourself. No checking for a vaccine, no COE, no ASQs, no PCR testing, no insurance requirements, no wondering what businesses will be open, etc... Just, you know, OPEN!

"On Monday (Sept 20) Immigration released an order to confirm the extension of the grace period given to foreigners stuck in Thailand due to the COVID-19 pandemic."
Foreigners stuck in Thailand......yeah right.
read the form you submit to immigration for extending. they say the reason: "pandemic situation of covid-19 is still on going"
when the WHO declares the pandemic is over then the covid extensions will end.

With vaccines becoming more available (yesterday they anounced that Phizer was available to people 18+ at Central Festival) people allegedly stuck in Thailand can make their way back home.
nothing to do with vaccines. its about the ongoing travel situation which we are now seeing has no end in sight with very limited openings. We will probably be very deep into 2022 with covid extensions in place.

You could apply on the 27th. But best to do it earlier if possible.
the immigration office told me they will cancel my current visa (stv) and give 60 days from day of application. is that only for the first covid extension , and if there are more extensions in the future i will get 60 days added to date of expiration?

the hatred on this forum is nonsense. people justifying their own medical decisions to try and remove expats from the kingdom and make themselves feel better. make your own medical decisions and stop worrying about others. if you want it great, if not then dont take it. the thai population accepts most of this stuff. there will be no mandates.

In news thread they just announced that quarantine may end very soon. You can follow that thread in Thai news forum.
Might be step towards end of covid extensions.
Think your agent is giving poor advice.
I suggest you obtain covid extension prior to your current expiry of permission of stay.
Here is snippet from article in news forum. Note it's a proposal.
"Its director Yutthasak Suphasorn will be proposing to the CCSA committee at their next meeting (thought to be this Friday) that from October 1st foreign tourists will not have to quarantine"
that is good news, I may do a visit to America. I would hope quarantine for unvaxed is reduced to 5-10 days.

I guess it would work but no one really knows since this was implemented during covid I dont think many people have been doing visa runs to neighboring countries. Also depends on nationality, some are not eligible for the evisa system.
