You could apply on the 27th. But best to do it earlier if possible.
the immigration office told me they will cancel my current visa (stv) and give 60 days from day of application. is that only for the first covid extension , and if there are more extensions in the future i will get 60 days added to date of expiration?

the hatred on this forum is nonsense. people justifying their own medical decisions to try and remove expats from the kingdom and make themselves feel better. make your own medical decisions and stop worrying about others. if you want it great, if not then dont take it. the thai population accepts most of this stuff. there will be no mandates.

In news thread they just announced that quarantine may end very soon. You can follow that thread in Thai news forum.
Might be step towards end of covid extensions.
Think your agent is giving poor advice.
I suggest you obtain covid extension prior to your current expiry of permission of stay.
Here is snippet from article in news forum. Note it's a proposal.
"Its director Yutthasak Suphasorn will be proposing to the CCSA committee at their next meeting (thought to be this Friday) that from October 1st foreign tourists will not have to quarantine"
that is good news, I may do a visit to America. I would hope quarantine for unvaxed is reduced to 5-10 days.

With an STV your option is covid extensions. Apply for one prior to expiry of your current permission of stay.
You cannot obtain a non O. In other words even an agent cannot help you with option such as non O volunteering etc.
Apply for covid extension.
an agent did originally say they can convert me to a non O but then said its not possible and to use covid extensions for now. they said in late september when stv program ends then they can probably do it. so im hopeful for this to happen. anyone in the same position with stv please let us know if you heard anything.

The Thaivisa group on fb have started a rumour that it’s due to end. I don’t buy it myself, but many will now buy an overpriced false visa
there were local immigration officers back in the middle of 2020 who were confident the extension was ending yet its still going

How did you enter Thailand. Tourist visa, visa exempt, or....?
stv which expires at the end of october

First time for me to do this covid extension. I was told by an officer they will cancel my current visa and give me 60 days from the day i apply. Is that how it works for your first time?

that is your opinion. for me i believe the best thing i can do is not get vaccinated and live my life as healthy as possible.

Some people do talk standing.....
just like the millions of people who have died in the past thousands of years from cold and flu. sometimes a person's body is not strong enough and they die, thats life. do the best you can to be healthy and forget about it.

Most people of this forum are only wanting to enter Laos and return to get a new entry for here or to go to the Thai embassy in Vientiane or the consulate in Savannakhet to apply for a visa.
I would guess most non Laotians that have been able to enter Laos were already living there or were it entering to start working there. The discussion about being able to enter Laos really belongs in the Visas and migration to other countries forum.
Yes agreed, and if he has a usa passport probably less hassle just to fly to mexico city and back.

If they start issuing COE again its possible if he can get some agent to do the paperwork for the visa who will then get approval from the Laos ministry of foreign affairs. Keep in mind you will have to quarantine 14 days in Laos.

What joe says is correct for the mainstream public. Now if you want to go more underground, people have been crossing at Nong Khai with the proper visa/reason and $$$ to enter up until 23 August 2021. You would need an agent to do the paperwork with business, employment, partner, investor visa, etc. But now Laos has stopped issuing COE to foreigners due to rising covid cases. So im assuming in a month or two you could get in again if their covid situation calms down.

I would guess mid 2022 if the world chooses to live with this disease otherwise who knows this could go on for years.

just like in 2020 when IO kept saying its going to end and the government kept extending it.

Any announcement coming from immigration about all the STV holders here now? Or are we all lumped into the same category as normal tourists who have to do 60 day covid extensions?

Yes that is correct. Sorry I didn't get any notifications. An agent said there's an announcement coming next month regarding this STV thing. I think I will wait and see what happens with it.
As someone said I guess the options either hang out on covid extensions or leave and re enter.
I will have a think about it.
Sorry for the confusion
I am on the STV too and heard the same thing from agents, just wait and be patient. A 1 year extension for 10,000 baht would be beautiful ! Please do let us know if you hear anything.

You mixing up a visas validity for entry to the country with the permit to stay it allows and the extension of that entry.
I understand what your saying but i thought the OP entered in feb or march of this year?
"I forgot to add that I have been in Thailand since February or March and we haven't left the country."
-
The OP is confusing lol. I'm assuming entered thailand in march on stv. Good to stay until june. 1st extension good until september. 2nd extension good until december
-
From what i have understood, the OP had an end date on his STV in September and then he has now obtained the last 90 day extension resulting in a final end date in December. Then after that time is wondering what will happen. At this moment you have two options. #1, 60 day covid extensions until no longer available, #2, Leave the country and come back.
I think its safe to say there will be at least one more covid extension announced. I feel like its a waste to leave now, when you can probably stay until mid 2022 on covid extensions.

You entered visa exempt. You have never had a visa and still don't have a visa. You have a permission to stay. Simple as it gets. Everything ubonjoe says is spot on.

Foreigners in Thailand have until Nov 26 to apply for ‘COVID extensions’
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
nothing to do with vaccines. its about the ongoing travel situation which we are now seeing has no end in sight with very limited openings. We will probably be very deep into 2022 with covid extensions in place.
