the most likely reaction from the Thais will be that, "if they do it in Malaysia, let's do it too".
Really? I thought they were rather afflicted with the Not-Invented-Here syndrome.

I didn't want to read the article. I just wanted an accurate summary. That wasn't provided.

This article makes little sense. It begins "Existing participants ... can’t meet stricter financial criteria to renew visas", but the story actually is about Bangladeshis being unable to travel to Malaysia because of COVID.

I use the all yellow bank .. never any problem paying COD or paying Q codes
I presume that's Krung Sri. Krung Sri has told me that only Thai nationals can register for PromptPay, which appears to be confirmed by their website which states that a Citizen ID is required for registration. Is this wrong?

Next time someone asking about a good investment gets a reply suggesting rental property as a suitable option, point them to this topic.

No need to be snippy. If you'd spelt the word correctly in the first place it might have helped. It's บอน. In English, Elephant ear, Cocoyam, Dasheen, Eddoe, Japanese taro, Taro. The following site has a few pictures and a list of regional names for it. (None of them is บรอน.)

there's a, now abandonded and boarded up, shopping centre at a crossorads in banglampu. it was built with more floors than permitted, these were removed and the building left in its sad, slowly decomposing state.
It does, however, now house a wonderful fish pond.

No, it's a South African bank. However, it has international banking operations in both Jersey and Isle of Man with regulatory regimes similar to the UK. Accounts in either of those locations have sort codes, so money transfer to them is the same as transfering to the UK (i.e. sort code + account number - not IBAN or SWIFT).

I doubt there is anything so universally funny as melodic flatulence.
Or lucrative. In 1890s Paris, Le Pétomane was the highest paid entertainer in the world whilst performing at Le Moulin Rouge.

I have used this product for several years on my grass. It certainly only kills weeds, not grass.
You may be confused. Could it be the green stuff you see on your lawn is a bed of weeds and the grass is all dead?

Apart from the restaurants that have hiked their prices to cover the delivery platform's cut.

I could buy a hammer but not a television. Paint but not patio furniture.
Makes perfect sense. People sit close together to watch television and sitting on patio furniture. Hammering and painting aren't usually communal activities.

Have you looked at https://thai-notes.com/reading/index.html ? Despite the name, it covers writing as well as reading with animations showing the correct way to write characters and has worksheets for writing practice. On the reading side, there's lots of interactive practice. It's free, no ads.

I don't mind using delivery services
I do because in this area they are very unreliable. Perhaps 50% of the time my order gets cancelled after 20 minutes or so. On occasions I've had three cancellations in a row, meaning it's an hour later, and I still haven't got anything to eat. Why can't the delivery companies set up a system which ensures that an accepted order is actually fulfilled?

I've been trying to access a certain English language newspaper site in Thailand for a few days now, with no success. A traceroute ends at the border with Internet Thailand Company (ip address 203.154.96.254). If I go to the company's website, www.inet.co.th, it times out. Both sites can be accessed using a VPN. This suggests to me that Internet Thailand Company is having network problems. However, it's strange there should be an outage of 3 days so far. Any thoughts?

get a good conbination fertilizer/selective weed killer ... Most larger garden centers can provide...or even ask around at HomePro/ThaiWatsadu
I've tried several times to get a selective lawn weed killer in Thailand, but completely failed. Perhaps you could name the brand that you get here?

ANW is the only investment trust (closed ended fund) listed on the London Stock Exchange investing exclusively in Thailand. It's done pretty well over the years, and has avoided investing in the most blatantly corrupt companies in Thailand. Unfortunately, it's now going to merge with another investment trust (AEMC), and the resultant merged trust is going to invest solely in China. This is disappointing for investors, taking away one of the very few offshore options for investment in Thailand (and the onshore options are almost universally dire).

Off topic. This is about ASEAN, not Asia. Google it if you don't know the difference.
