To be a little more positive it is possible to find an excellent Thai nanny in CM.
We had a great experience with a nanny for our first child. Caring, intelligent, prepared listen and do things our way we could not have been happier. It is a shame now our second child's arrival imminent that she has retired however we still greatly value her as a close family friend.
We will also be searching for a new nanny but given our previous experience I am confident we will find another gem even if it takes time. My advice to the OP is to advertise widely, interview candidates several times if necessary and always ask for references.
Good luck.

Here is the number, thanks to City News to call to report fires: 1784
The hotline number is completely useless. They were totally disinterested and just gave out the fire department's number. And that was from a Thai reporting it.
So much for the city authorities taking burning seriously

Can strongly recommend this. The standard of CM photographers is incredible!

Just tried this place after finding it on TV this morning. Little Miss MB loved it and the owned were very hospitable. Will be visiting again

Thanks for the additional observations - sounds promising. We asked in airport plaza yesterday and they confirmed service to our area. We will probably give it a go.

Thanks Jeffrey - much appreciated

Thank you Gonzo, I appreciate your kind sentiments. As you can imagine family life keeps me busy
Thanks for the input Steve. We are well outside the city, to the south past Makro. Anyone out this way have any experience?

We are hoping to bump up our internet speed and are looking at True cable 20Mbps. Does anyone have any experience of this package or True cable in general?
They talk a good game at the shop but it would be helpful to get some real life feedback.
Thanks in advance

I am very sorry to hear this sad news.
Ian was truly a larger than life character with a strong connection with Chiang Mai.
Our thoughts are with his family at this terrible time
RIP Ian

A friend of mine has broken his leg while on holiday here. We are looking for a waterproof plaster cast protector, tried Ram, Pharma choice and Boots to be met with blank stares.
Anyone broken a leg and have any experience with this or know where we could get one.
Help gratefully appreciated.

On the road to Doi Saket about 200 meters past the Super Highway on the left is a shop that does aluminum windows, you will see the materials for them. They also do ceilings and did a good one for me. Street number 408/2 phone 053 491 058. Owner speaks enough English. It is before you get to the next ring road.
Thanks Semper, much appreciated. It is a bit far from me and the travel might put them off. I am out towards Hang Dong. But it there are no closer recommendations I will see if they can help.
That is why I gave you the phone number, i.e. so nobody had to travel before sorting it out.
Anyway, Good luck Milton. Get the book of what where and how, it has ceiling contractors listed.
Thank you Dante.
Regarding the distance I think you may have misunderstood me. In my experience Thai contractors are reluctant too far for jobs rather than being a problem for me.
Anyway thank you for your help I will give them a call.

I have some suspended ceilings that need replacing. Can anyone recommend a builder who has done this kind of work?
Any help gratefully appreciated.

I use Goodspeed computer in Computer Plaza. Can't speak highly enough of their service over the last 6 years.

My dog flew with Thai.
Check at the cargo section at the airport for the carriage cost. Mine was a from the UK deal so I don't know how much the Thai leg was.

Thanks guys that's definitely him.
He's not doing any harm and the neighbours are equally content to leave him be although they assure me he is 'very dangerous'

Some great action yesterday.
Australia looked very competent and dealt very well with Italy, surely they are second favourites.
Very impressed by the USA real commitment and great tackling but Ireland were always going to have too much for them. O'Connell was magnificent
SA v Wales game of the day and hugely enjoyable. Wales' high tempo game is great to watch. They didn't spring the surprise I predicted but came close. I have to admit I didn't pick up on the 'good' kick.
Great start to the tournament and loads more rugby to come

England won ugly that's for sure.
I enjoyed the France v Japan game. Japan played very well for a large part of the game. I love it when the minnows raise their game and refuse to be walked all over.
Some great games today as well
Australia v Italy - Australia to show they are genuine contenders
Ireland v USA - Ireland to scrape a tough win
South Africa v Wales - Wales to spring a surprise
Enjoy

Bit of a worry when the commentary switched to Thai but all fixed. Flashback to last year but it seems we have dual language yay

I never referred to a group of death, my point was that England's group would be a very physical test. If they come through it either France or New Zealand would be lying in wait both of whom are currently ranked ahead of England and will be very difficult to beat.
Obviously, given their history, Wales would be concerned about coming up against Samoa and Fiji both of whom have previously embarrassed Wales in World Cup. Having said that as I stated earlier I fancy Wales to be a surprise package in the tournament.
UK passport for newborn

You have to send away to Hong Kong.
The consulate here is very helpful, I recommend you go and see them.
You will need the forms, copy of the birth certificate and a certified translation. Plus photos, the UK govt relaxes the rules a bit for new borns but it can still be difficult to get an acceptable shot. The studio around the corner from the consulate does a good job and know the rules. The pictures then have to be certified by an appropriate person and countersigned in the form.I think you also have to include copies of the parents 'passports.
It takes about 6 weeks but is actually quite straightforward, at least it was for us for both our children.
