As I understand it, and I may well be wrong - double tax agreements don't prevent you from being taxed in Thailand. My understanding is that if the amount of tax you paid in your home country is less than you would have paid in Thailand - you will have to pay the difference. That might not be the case in many situations but one group that may well be affected is those on a pension. For example, if your UK pension is less than the UK tax threshold - which many are, you don't pay tax on it in the UK. However, even the basic UK pension is over the Thai tax threshold and therefore, according to my understanding and what I've read, it will be taxable if you bring it into Thailand.
If so, there would appear to be an obvious solution

It will go into effect , it won't matter if it is challenged in court or not.
Nightmare to be enforced or not, it does not matter.
My guess is they will have authorized tax officials that you will have to get signed off on before you go to immigration for an extension of your visa.
That would be a nightmare at Jomtien.
Would it apply to those using agents -- if not another reason to do so

To side-track it a bit, why on earth does every bar and/or player in Thailand have different rules to play by?
On scratches, some want to pick up the ball and place it anywhere they like.
Some want to shoot from behind the line, but they can shoot backwards if they like.
Is there no standard? Perplexed!
This is why I gave up playing in pool leagues.
Every bar has their own rules

I'd be more worried about mosquitoes

I gave up playing regular golf after I arrived here. Pity, because I thought with low land prices and wages golf would be dirt cheap. The owners must be coining it.
Already pricing many expats out of playing

Golf prices up imminently
Yes, expecting a rise at all courses from next month.
Surprised they haven;t already done so, but as most only reduced from last high season by 100 bt for this current "low" season, they are already seeing lower numbers.
Expect the already busy courses around Sattahip to be even busier soon

Heavy rain now on the Darkside, expect more flooding in Kao Noi and the railway road

The big problem I see with waiting and seeing is that you might find it too late to enact any plan before you know anything definite. I will become a non resident of Thailand for tax purposes spending less than 180 days year here. I am lucky to have another residence when I can spend the time but I need to put my affairs in order here within the next three months, or so.
So if I left Thailand every 179 days I would not be considered as a resident ?

If you are taxed in your country the reciprocity of the agreements applies so theoretically you should only present documents proving taxation in England and not be taxed here in Thailand.
You mean payslips or a P60 ?

Kasikorn also asked for a certificate of residence from Immigration

Why you would need to avoid branches? You think that from now on every lotus will be full of dogs?
Those that are encouraging customers to bring their pets -- yes

So why not give them a real teachers job?
Perhaps because the school would have to get mixed up in work permits (which they should already have even working as volunteers )

Most every store in the US allows customers to bring their pet dogs in the store with them. Been doing this for about 3 or 4 years now. Nothing to see here, move along.
So who is at fault when an innocent customer is bitten by a dog - the owner or the store ?

Sadly our local one is on it ????
Sadly the EN option only covers half of the heading.
So no idea which branches to avoid

The baht is grossly overvalued for numerous reasons and will depreciate a lot against the USD over time.
