It is my belief that the rise in the Baht is a BOT initiative .
Motive . To make oil purchases cheaper.
Keep the Thai population happy.
Political move
90-odd percent of Thais have no interest in fx rates or how strong/weak the baht is.
They live day to day only caring how much their daily food will cost

can you also ensure that only those that are eelcted (voted for) are allowed to serve as MP's - shouldn't matter whar party they are connected only that the people voted for them as individuals ............oh but that would be real democracy wouldn't it ................ the people voting for individuals who they want in government and running the country
The Thai people need to realise that as they go and vote in elections they will still end up with the same people in the top jobs ........did you directly vote for them ? well no you didn't ......but they are still there, they are members of a party only - they were not individually elected .......... not democracy, you should be able to vote into office the singular people you want there - it's a scam - you are being fooled - waken up
Very well put

Otherwise what is the point of having an election when it comes to the say-so of 250 yes men ?

Many have already cancelled their bookings! How many of them will book again, maybe at a higher price?
Very few. Better deals and no flip flopping elsewhere

Does that mean Thailand can set their own baht rate's against other world currencies instead of the trading money market.?
Perhaps they are already doing that ??

What has this got to do with the taxi driver wanting to rip off his passengers? The exact opposite of what you are ranting about happened - a caddy paid the rip-off fee for the passengers. Did you even understand what you were reading? It seems not.
I'm sure the 100 baht would have been demanded along with the caddy "tip"

Already expensive enough now they think it's high season. Courses will try to rip off tourists and expats thinking there is a never ending supply of cash,
And now caddies are starting to demand ridiculous amounts as a "tip"

I extented my stay last month in Sriracha immigration and embassy letter wasn't enough, they wanted to see 6 months of payments from abroad into a thai bank.A friend did his extension last Tuesday in Pattaya and embassy letter was enough. So I guess it depends which immigration office,or which immigration officer
It will be Jomtien

Apologies but I've searched the forum but cannot find...
My Swedish neighbour is due to renew his marriage extension soon, he is adamant that a letter from his Embassy will suffice to show he is receiving a pension,
Would he also need to show monthly pension payments to his bank account for the last 12 months ??
Thank You

They are checking that you are not on overstay. Hotels do this as well.
They must get some kind of reward for anyone they report to Immigration

English speakers who ONLY teach English so that they can get a Visa.
Never mind the Thai English teachers, many foreigners from non English speaking
countries are not
qualified to teach English.
My daughter's English teacher often has to ask what many English words mean, And forget having any sensible conversation with this teacher

Going from 38 to 35 is now the definition of “Surging”? Back in 2013 it was 28 to $1 USD. If it went back to that level then I would say “surging and boom, boom”.
And goodbye

Ya depends if the family wants to "show off" invite the whole village for 3 or 4 days and provide food and drink 2 or 3 times a day can run over 100k easily.
That's exactly what happened for my wife's father recently.
3 days of visits by the monks, continual food and drink.
All done very respectfully

I'm half way through season 1 of North Sea Connection. Set in Ireland, it's about local inhabitants who are coerced by a European drug cartel to smuggle meth into Ireland via the west coast. Pretty good so far and worth a look IMHO. I got it from TGx. I think this has already been recommended by @sanuk711 some time ago.
Good series, hoping there will be a second season

Not too hard to work out. It’s called tactics, to try to get the ref to call a foul, but is thankfully less an issue nowadays with VAR etc. Anyway, dignity and ice hockey? Isn’t that the hobby where they fight every 5 minutes and dressed up in so much foam that you could drop off a cliff and not be hurt? ????
