Depends if that includes mortgage debt. If it does then it's not a big figure. One years average salary?
Many Thais are earning less than 15K / month

Only the Thai central bank, with it's USD swap line, can move the baht currency significantly. No individual can buy or sell large amounts of baht. It is a controlled currency. The baht was heavily manipulated yesterday and prior few days as evident by the volume. In the long run, the baht will fall significantly against the USD.
Any idea on "how long" that will be ?

Using Skype, you have to put 0044 in front of the 0800 ?

This seems a good place to ask. I don't like any lager beer. Is there anywhere that sells bottles of brown ale ?
No decent UK beer in Thailand.
Real beer comes from a cask and is served without gas.

"and swing undecided senators to come in behind his bid "
Just needs enough envelopes to do that

Just bought a car, cash, whilst looking for one every advert included finance whilst apparently cheap monthly repayments the interest rate was phenomenal.
Looking at the cars history it looked like it had been a repossession from the previous owner by the bank.I tried to buy a new car for cash ..... impossible. Only available on finance, which over 5 years cost 40% more than the advertised price - and that was with zero interest for the first year

When it comes to Dollars don't think it ever got that high last year 38, highest I remember was 36+
The dollar rose to 38 for a couple of days, then a certain deputy PM wanted it back down to 35.

When I called to claim my state pension, they asked me what bank I'd like the funds to be put into, and I gave them all my SCB details including SWIFT code.
I called the international number.
Do you still have the number ?
Thanks

My 66th birthday was on June 2nd, so I'm expecting my first UK state pension payment in July. I'm having it paid direct into my SCB account. Can anyone give me a rough idea when the funds might be available please.
How did you get them to pay direct to SCB ?

The cost of 2 round trips from Pattaya to BKK is less than 1000 baht....how secure is your passport in a local agents hands?
1 trip to BKK including travel, food & drinks etc costs way more than 1K ????

I think the 10,000 baht includes the cost of the passport itself, not just the agent's fees.
Yes it did. Add the cost of 2 trips to BKK VFS office and it seemed a good deal

OP - I recently shifted from OA to O by using an agent. I landed without a re-entry permit on a valid OA.
I already had the seasoned 800K, so got a discount on their usual rate. It cost me 19,900B. I've managed my own renewals for over a decade and never had an agent before. But I really just could not be fagged with multiple visits to the Jomtien IO, especially with how stupidly busy they were at the time.
Got everything done in 3 weeks, and effectively got a 15 month permission to stay with the tourist visa and 12 month O being back-to-back.
Sounds like you are near Pattaya -- which agency please as my situation is very similar

These people did mine. Easy no trips to BK but it did take a LONG time, not their fault the UK passport office is a shambles.
Thai Visa Express did mine, took 8 weeks including the UK strikes

I shall be 80 when my next renewal comes up. You certainly wouldn't be able to tempt me to do 2 trips all the way from Sakon Nakhon to a city I can't stand anyway,
If I have to pay an 5,000 THB to have someone do it for me, it'll be worth every satang.
10000 baht to a Pattaya agency

OP, completely covered by ppst above.
Be aware (if you deal with Jomtien) that office (according to recent thread) .....requires the 800k seasoned for two months to apply for the non O.
Ridiculous.
The rule is funds in the bank on day of application.
Assume that you are not married.
If you are you could change extension to based on marriage and no insurance requirements
Are you saying that I could get a marriage extension using the existing OA and not need the insurance ?
-
Please could anyone advise if this is doable ?
The insurance requirement has become increasingly expensive.
What is the best way to do this -- with and without using an agent ?

Tried to call the Future Pension Centre on 0044 191 218 3600 but could not get through as I get a message that the number is invalid. Has anyone managed to get through ?
