1. O.K. I tested the handlebar theory last night and again this morning. Now, keep in mind that I have an awsome ride to work. I ride along the ocean, then up over a mountain, then down to the port where I get off my bike and onto the ferry boat, and rarely see another car. So, I have at least a half dozen "hairpin curves" and numerous "S" curves. I always noticed that when I turned right, for example, I could "feel it" in my right arm. I just assumed that it was because gravity was forcing my weight on my right arm. :D Now that I have finally paid attention, I have noticed that I am actually pushing the right handlebar (counter steering). :D This revelation sure has changed the way I ride, it's much more fun now. :D This is one if the few times that I actually wish I went to college to learn something. :o Again, I stand corrected. My thanks to the OP for pointing this out.

    Cheers.

  2. Popped out with Mrs H2o for a shandy to the local bar in town last night. The bar is a transit point for people going to or coming from the islands,Tao KPG or Samui. A guy who had been on KPG was asking about the bike. He mentioned that he didn't ride them as he had trouble going round corners. I tried to explain that there are a few ways of cornering on a bike as in leaning, turning the handlebars or a combination of the two. Where most people go wrong in cornering at speed is they turn the handlebars the wrong way and end up going straight on! At speed centrifugal forces mean that if you turn the bars to the left, the bike will go right and if you turn right the bike will go left. The guy just thought I was taking the mick. His friends also thought the same. They must have had a few too many mushroom shakes I think. The same guy who was berating me for riding such a big bike, I got the impression he was a bit of a tree hugger, due to global warming etc couldn't grasp the fact that if all the icebergs melted the sea level would not rise 1 mm. I again tried to explain about a guy called Archimedes and about displacement but again might as well have been talking to the bar cat.

Do they not teach anything in school these days ?? :o

    Counter-Steering

    Hmmm. I guess I stand corrected :D

  3. I know a guy who runs porno sites and after he split up with his wife put her intimate photos on one of the sites as revenge.

He then told everyone he had done so.

It's funny, but whenever I saw her after that, I couldn't help myself thinking of all the different household objects I had seen protruding from her bottom, and as such, normal interaction was difficult.

Couldn't she have sued him for every dollar he had ?

She took it all off him in the divorce settlement!

I think they were swinger types anyway, and she had probably consented previously or perhaps her photos had been on the website all the time and he just though it was the opportune moment to let everyone know!

"You could park a bus up there" was the general concensus. :D

Maybe that's why he split with her. Maybe sex with her was like having sex with a toilet seat (strictly speaking of size). :o:D

  4. Read PRIVATE DANCER by Stephen Leather.

Don't leave the airport until you have finished it. Every word rings true and is based on real events!!!

As a back up Thailand Fever which is in both Thai and English on alternative pages. You can read this with your significant other.

No one is immune to the highly developed Thai mastery of releaving Farangs of their wealth.

Have fun. What have you got to lose apart from money?

    Hello...

I took your advise and have almost completed Stephen Leather's book (Very cool cover!)...looking forward to checking out "Thai Fever"...

Recently, I spent some time in JAPAN... I can best describe it as the "Indiana Jones School of Sexual Adventure"... As a westerner I visited places that most foreigners are not cordially invited to attend... (for which I am very grateful because Japanese women are well beyond all 5 senses icon4.gif)...

I can fully understand why Japanese men are so protective of them....

True ... Many Thai women have manipulation down to an Art form (after all, necessity is the mother of invention)... I have already experienced it from afar...

Let's face it, they see American and European farang as prime meat... much like the lioness's on the Serengeti we are often thought of as easy prey ..... Where else in most instances... would Thai women be treated with "respect" and have all of the the fringes to boot?...

Answer: No where is Asia.. that is for sure...

I appreciate your advise.. thanks much...

Really????? I've been living in japan for years and I don't see it. Maybe I should go to the same places you went because things are very dry here in Hiroshima. But, then again, after spending so much time in Thailand, I just do not find the Japanese gilrs attractive anymore....especially the wife. :D:o:D

You beat me to it. If the OP wants a copy of Private Dancer, PM me and I will e-mail it. I have a copy stored on my computer.

  6. I would like to take wife to the US for a visit but having problem with US. even if i stand up for her still a problem with the good old US .. maybe things will change after the next election but I dont think so. Will have to wait and see. :o

Don't know of any problems american citizens have of bringing their legal wife for a visit to the US. Or to live, for that matter, providing they can support them.

    :D

Quite true, you have to prove you can support your wife.

The reason they don't allow easy access ,is they tend to disappear into the country, when found the US has to pay for tickets etc..

Not Necessarily. The US does require a lot of information first. It took my months to get my Japanese wife into the states....and that was 11 years ago. I'm sure it's worse now.

  7. Foolish to go into the offoce aftter 1 year. I feel sorry for the guy as I've known hundreds of decent guys using fake degrees.

It was once alright to do but I guess times are changing for the worse. Soon the sad day will come when corruption will be against the law.

I'd recommend total denial if getting caught with anything. How can they tell if it's a fake degree. If getting a fake degree, get one from a uni that doesn't exist anymore. Don't you have to give them permission to ask your uni?

I am an Engineer without a degree but I have never lied about it, I just don't bring up the conversation. But, if needed, this was my idea also.

  8. Two times I've sent cash to Thailand from Japan. Both times in a plain brown envelope and the money was wrapped in plain white paper so the cash could not be seen from the outside. Both times, it never arrived at it's destination. :D:D:o

  9. O.K., I'm all in also.

Between my protfolio and real estate, almost a self made millionaire at 45 yo with absolutely no college. Barely made it thruogh high school. :o

Just had the full health check and, aside from the cholestrol (and maybe drinking too much), everything's good. :D

As far as currency fluctuations, I learned a long time ago to not worry about things that I can not control.

    Cheers.

  10. Money buys security, not happiness.

I always thought that if I had money, I would be happy. I used to say "if money can't buy it, then I don't need it". Now that I have money, it does not necessarily mean that I'm always happy. I actually sometimes think back about the days before money, I have some very good memories of that time.

Don't get me wrong though, given the choice I would much rather have money then not.

  11. My Thai girlfriend has a 10 year old son. We have been together for over 1 1/2 years. She has NEVER asked me for money. In fact, every time I have offered, she has refused to accept it. On the day I leave I usually wait until she is in the shower and slip some money into her wallet. She doesn't usually find it until I have left the country.

  12. The poor chap is dead, he liked driving his car whilst drunk, one night he paid the ultimate price, his family sends money to my mother in-law, which although doesn't amount to much, the thought is there.

Same with my GF except replace car with motorcycle. My GF wasn't too upset about it as he used to get drunk and try to beat her up. I guess she got pretty good at thowing the kitchen chairs and other furniture at him trying to defend herself. She is only 149cm and 36Kg. Don't know if his family sends money or not though.

  13. Cheers chaps,

well, I have been down the range for the last couple of weeks and haven't been feeling great about my swing at all.

    Thinking too much?

Anyway, this morning, allowed myself a cheeky 18 at Mission Hills, Khao Yai (excellent course, good value, not too many screaming Koreans either...).

The first five holes saw me hit 6-8-6-3-9... same old, same old. Then I hit a bit of form and my confidence returned... I started giving myself a chance off the tee - started connecting with my driver.

Took the hints given here, mainly 'stop thinking too much, just play'. A bit more savvy course management too, eg if I was 230 yds away, I'd take a nice easy 7iron then a pitching wedge rather than try and blast my 5 wood onto the green.

I came back in 43, my best 9 in ages. However, the big problem now - PUTTING! out of those 96 shots, I had 43 putts (23/21).

Typical golf - you fix one leak, another one springs!

Anyway, at least it was an enjoyable round... though you can be assured that next time I play that course I'll have a total nightmare - again, that's just golf!

Cheers once more for your tips/hints...

    jim

A quote from an old friend of mine that I will never forget. He told me this about 25 years ago and I still think about it during every round. He said "You have the dubious honor of being the worse putter that I have ever seen" Still to this day, not much better.

  14. Myself and 3 other members of this forum had a good drink in soi LK Metro Saturday afternoon, in the Drnken Duck and while its nothing special, a good relaxing drink with no hassles was had by all, will definately return. Just out of curiosity which is your bar Mulphy????

    BB

Mulphy's bar is call The Rock House (?) It's on Soi L.K. Metro about half way down on the left hand side. (I sure hope this information is correct Mulphy). I've been there a few times and it's actually a pretty nice place. I would definately recommend it. The prices are in line IMHO.

  15. yeah, best thing to do would be go and buy the cheapest shotgun you can find, drink a bottle of fire water and then blow your stupid brains out... cos you can bet your bottom dollar, that's what your former families' paid assasin will be doing quite shortly.

    bottoms up... :D

:o Goshawk, were you fired from the BKK Suicide Helpline staff? :D

I found Goshawk's post to be funny as hel_l LMAO. :D Not a very sympathetic crowd here, including myself. I like to gamble but cap my losses at a very small number. 25 hours until wheels up. :D
