That is because the SUBJECT of this thread is the number of prisoners in THAILAND'S jails that have become infected with COVID 19
We all know the figures that you are trotting out because they are posted ad nauseam on this forum-all 17 thousand, four hundred and sixty four threads thus far.
Now tell us just how the American alt-right wing laissez faire policies did under their intellectual giant of a president?
Until he was repudiated by the majority and sent packing ,thank the lord Harry.

However, for anyone to claim that lockdowns like what we arae under are not necessary is so utterly outrageous and irresponsible, it boggles the mind.
Well..they had the catastrophic examples of the US,the UK and Brazil to chew upon and if that spectacular display of stupidity didn't change their minds then nothing will..
Some of the sentiments being expressed here (and ad nauseam) are left over rhetorical and ideological "bubble and squeak" from that period.

Ever considered a career in fascism?
They've always been fascinated by 1920's style eugenics...never got past Herbert Spencer.

It is indeed very sad, that a minor infraction could become a death sentence.
indeed.

Should be 220 dead if the death rate stays at one percent.
Thanks for that-only 220 dead.
...and how many extremely sick do you suppose?

I have just started The mirror and the light, the final book of the trilogy. 875 pages. She is an amazing writer. I have never read any historical fiction until I read the first book, Wolf hall. I was hooked.
Yes Wolf Hall is tremendous and I'm really looking forward to reading the last book of the series...
May I also put in a recommendation for her first historical novel 'A Place of Greater Safety'....Danton,Robespierre, Desmoulins and the Terror.

I have just got stuck into Haruki Murakami's novel '1Q84' after putting it aside for a few months..
There is no doubt that he is a dazzling novelist as evidenced by 'Kafka on the Shore' and 'The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle'.

I guess that the next scariest thing to meeting a Thai driver (Mr and Mrs Average) head on would be to meet a Thai apologist in the same situation...
There are some extremely bizarre posts on this thread.

Yes and the vaccine against GOM syndrome is still light years away...can you imagine discussing your pension (or Covid 19) with your fellow old buffers for-in my case-the next 80 years?

Hello Owl-you are certainly getting impressive results with your plantation-well done!
We had a beautiful lunar eclipse last night.Apart from a few wisps of cloud,it was bright and clear with the Milky Way out in all its glory with even a modest little meteor shower thrown in for good measure.
The best lunar eclipse that I have ever seen...great job by Galactic administration!????

'Bring up the Bodies' by Hilary Mantel.
Recently finished 'Slaves in the Family' by Edward Ball-an amazing read.

Has anyone ever read 'The Eagle of the Ninth' *by Rosemary Sutcliff which along with Roger Milton's 'Tell them in Sparta' kicked off my lifelong passion for history?
I was about 10 years old.
I picked up a copy of the 'Eagle of the Ninth' the other day for $3 in the children's literature section and smiled to see an old friend still going strong.
*They made a rather poor Hollywood movie out of the book..'The Eagle' starring Channing Tatum.
The Book Depository is the way to go as the Thai postal service tends to purloin Amazon.

Come on! Give me some chaos!
I agree with that statement.I certainly miss Thailand's brightness, vivacity and generally friendly mode of communications...
Even the sense of colour far exceeds the hopelessly dull and prosaic presentation in the West.

With thanks to Cato the Elder: China delenda est.
Well..."Cathago delenda est" the words repeatedly bellowed by one of the most personally obnoxious politicians of ancient Rome led to to a vicious siege, the killing or enslavement of the entire population, the destruction of the city and the salting of the fields..
Are you really sure that you want to go around shrieking "delenda est!" these days?

There are fears that freelance Thai massage ladies may spread covid-but probably are very effective in the initial treatment of 5G symptoms and the odd lumps and bumps which may appear from time to time....????
