The Resurgence of Jihadist Threats: A Call to Vigilance
Bkk Brian replied to Social Media's topic in World News
What sort of response it that to the "facts" that Hamas did murder, massacre, rape, torture and take hostage in the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust on Oct 7th and only one in 4 Muslims in the UK believe it? What do you believe? -
Starmer Condemns 'Lies and Misinformation' Over Child Sexual Abuse
Bkk Brian replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Yes labour has a large majority it was not fortunate it wouldn't pass it was an odds on cert..........lol thats why "vote was largely symbolic" As for the continuing pressure. Starmer open to U-turn on grooming gangs inquiry, Downing Street says https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/starmer-grooming-gangs-inquiry-badenoch-musk-b2675866.html That's the headline, the article however: Sir Keir’s spokesperson said they would “reject” claims it was a U-turn, instead saying the government was pursuing a “victims-first approach”. How fortunate........... -
Israel Hamas War the Widening Middle East Conflict
Bkk Brian replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Israel
From your link. Yea, from Hamas figures and then estimates........ "Researchers analyzed data from multiple sources, including the health ministry’s hospital morgue records, a respondent-driven online survey and obituaries on social media. They arrived at estimated figures using a statistical method known as ‘capture-recapture analysis,’ which is used when not all of the relevant data is recorded." From the actual study, as you can see, all Hamas sourced data: "We used a three-list capture–recapture analysis using data from Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) hospital lists, an MoH online survey, and social media obituaries. After imputing missing values, we fitted alternative generalised linear models to the three lists' overlap structure, with each model representing different possible dependencies among lists and including covariates predictive of the probability of being listed; we averaged the models to estimate the true number of deaths" https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(24)02678-3/fulltext -
Starmer Condemns 'Lies and Misinformation' Over Child Sexual Abuse
Bkk Brian replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Oh the outrage.....lol Who was lying? The vote was never expected to be won. Tonight's vote was largely symbolic - aimed at putting pressure on Labour following days of headlines after comments by Elon Musk brought grooming gangs back into the spotlight. https://news.sky.com/story/mps-vote-against-new-national-inquiry-into-grooming-gangs-13285629 Meanwhile the pressure continues we even have a Labour peer calling for an enquiry and of course Jess Phillips saying she's open to one. Harman calls for 'mini inquiry' into grooming gangs Harriet Harman has suggested a "mini inquiry" into issues raised by the grooming gangs scandal and called on Sir Keir Starmer and Kemi Badenoch to discuss "terms of reference". The Labour peer told Sky's political editor Beth Rigby on the Electoral Dysfunction podcast podcast that there should "openness" to a future probe as long it does not repeat the previous investigations. https://news.sky.com/story/politics-latest-mps-voting-on-tories-call-for-grooming-gangs-inquiry-after-pm-said-it-would-delay-action-12593360 Jess Phillips does not rule out new national inquiry into grooming gangs A new victims panel is being set up by the government to hear about the abuse by grooming gangs. https://news.sky.com/story/jess-phillips-does-not-rule-out-new-national-inquiry-into-grooming-gangs-13285393 I see your on X now....what was it you said about it previously? -

Concerns Mount Over Fate of 6 Thai Hostages Held by Hamas in Gaza
Bkk Brian replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They are fighting a group of barbarian terrorists holding innocent hostages, the US is helping them thankfully. That's exactly what's happening now. You should check the Hamas charter before continuing in something you know little about. -

There you go again with that crystal ball. How do you know how it would have gone down I asked you? If you think it could just have been a phone snatch with no attempt by mself or others with me to stop him I can tell you clearly no, that would not have been "Thats it" As for Covent garden it actually has a very high rate of crime including violent related incidents -

This is about London though where crime has increased. Last time I was in London I was sitting in an outdoor restaurant in Covent Garden having a meal with my family, watching street performers and enjoying ourselves. A plain clothes policeman walked up, took my phone that I had next to my plate of food and whipped it away from me. Then told me he had his eye on two separate potential phone thieves in the immediate area looking for exactly what I had done. Then gave me a stern telling off. I deserved it, as it was a stupid thing to do. Anyway crime rates in London are on the up Yes, crime in London has increased in recent years, with a rise in violent crime and knife crime in particular: Overall crime: In 2023/24, there were 938,020 crimes recorded in London, up from 743,728 in 2015/16. The crime rate was 105.8 crimes per 1,000 people.
