Israel Hamas War the Widening Middle East Conflict
Bkk Brian replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Israel
You mean this terrorist who is a doctor of what is also a military hospital as well as civilian................. "You won’t arrest me; I’m well-known globally, and everyone knows me. I’m a symbol." Not only is Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya a Hamas Colonel—he's also an arrogant ass. Read this excerpt from a big new @N12News article, based on an interview with officers from Israel's elite Unit 504: ======== The depth of the connection between terrorism and the hospital begins with its very name: Kamal Adwan was a Fatah operative responsible for attacks in Nahariya and the Carmel Market before being eliminated by the IDF during Operation "Spring of Youth" in Lebanon in 1973. When the forces raided the hospital and began questioning the operatives, it was revealed that the hospital director himself, Dr. Husam Abu Safiya, was fully involved in Hamas's terrorist activities. Currently, there is an international campaign calling for the doctor's release, as he gained prominence through media interviews worldwide during the war. In Israel, there are also voices calling for his detention to be canceled. "During the raid, the hospital director, Dr. Husam Abu Safiya, was strutting around like a peacock," describes Lt. (Res.) D., a field investigator with Unit 504. "He was convinced he wouldn't be arrested and believed he was untouchable, orchestrating the entire scene. I interrogated one terrorist after another, and they all shouted his name and begged for him to come and see them, to help them. We understood that at the heart of the incident, the one orchestrating the terrorism and Hamas activity at the site, was the hospital director himself. The world must understand that there is a clear and direct collaboration between the medical staff and the senior leadership of the terror organization: they cynically exploit our desire not to harm the helpless and use the medical platform to establish a terrorist base." "We had indications that the hospital director was, in fact, a senior Hamas figure, but it took time before we received final approval to arrest him," emphasizes Master Sgt. (Res.) A. According to intelligence gathered, the hospital cooperated with the terror organization and provided shelter for terrorists. "The hospital director indeed strutted around like a peacock, and at first, we allowed him to do so," confirms Sgt. Maj. (Res.) G., one of Unit 504’s investigators present during the raid. G. is a commander and a fighter in the naval commando unit (Shayetet 13) and has been serving in the reserves since the start of the war. He fought in the battle for the Sderot police station and, as a civilian, assisted the YAMAM in rescuing officers. "Dr. Abu Safiya watched as his doctors were incriminated one by one. He thought he wouldn’t be arrested. We understood that it was all a disguise—they were terrorists with blood on their hands. The hospital director realized the facade had completely melted away, and in the end, he was also arrested," he notes. G. recalls, "During the interrogation, I confronted him: 'How is it that doctors around the world swear the Hippocratic oath, yet in Gaza, the medical field serves as a cover for terrorist bases?' In response, the hospital director feigned innocence and arrogantly told me, 'You won’t arrest me; I’m well-known globally, and everyone knows me. I’m a symbol.’ He thinks he’s a symbol, but we understand he’s a symbol of terrorism." https://x.com/EFischberger/status/1875128128885882971 -
Trump Reiterates Warning to Hamas on Hostage Release

That said, I found this a really interesting X thread written by the Director of the The Abraham Accords Peace Institute among other titles. Time for a reality check regarding a hostage deal. To be clear, it may be that the right thing to do, morally or strategically, is to make a deal. But let's look reality in the face and be honest about what's on the table: 1. Hamas will never release all of the living hostages. It will always keep a few as an 'insurance policy'. This is horrible, but true. 2. The dilemma facing Israel is this: In return for the release of some of the hostages, withdraw from Gaza, enable Hamas to retake control of the Strip, and allow for reconstruction, which means, in practice, that Hamas will rebuild its arsenal and terror tunnels, and return to launching terror attacks from Gaza. Again, it may be that the right decision, strategically or morally, is to agree to such a deal. Especially today as Israel's deterrence has been somewhat restored. But let’s be clear about the choice Israel is facing. All of the Israeli 'security experts' smugly explaining that we can pull out, get back *all* of the hostages, and then go back in, are wrong and lying to the public. Hamas is evil, but not stupid. 3. No amount of demonizing Netanyahu and the current Israeli government is going to change Hamas' calculations and core demands. It will only harden Hamas' positions. Tragically, if those protesting for a hostage deal spent 1/10 of the energy pressuring Qatar as they do pressuring Israel, we would likely be much closer to a deal. 4. If today, Israel pulls out of Gaza and a 'technocratic' Palestinian government is set up, Hamas will remain the dominant force on the ground, and will continue to take control of whatever construction materials, fuel, electronics etc. enter the Strip. All international oversight mechanisms have failed in Gaza, and there is no reason to believe, beyond self-illusions and wishful thinking, that future ones will succeed. 5. No Arab country will fight Hamas terrorists in Gaza for Israel. No Western power or Arab country will effectively prevent arms smuggling into Gaza. Only Israel can do this. 6. Destroying Hamas as the dominant military and governing power in Gaza is possible. As long as Israel controls Philadelphi and the border crossings, Hamas cannot bring in high-quality weapons or significantly rebuild its weapons factories. Hamas might be able to claim that it is ‘signing up’ new members, but it cannot actually train them. Destroying Hamas as the dominant force on the ground will require expanded and consistent military operations, and the end of the current practice whereby massive amounts of fuel and food are transferred regularly to Hamas by the IDF and international community. (Instead, the aid should be delivered, by the IDF or private companies, directly to designated humanitarian zones within Gaza.) Such expanded military operations may put more pressure on Hamas to agree to a better deal. But they are unlikely to result in the return of all or most of the hostages. We also must recall that we do not know how many of the hostages are still alive. Whether sustained and expanded operations are feasible at this point is a question in light of the burden on Israel’s reserve soldiers. Bottom Line: There is nothing I, like all Israelis, would like to see more than each and every one of the hostages returning home. It is heart-breaking and maddening that it is 2025, and they are still being held by Hamas. But unfortunately, because of the tremendous emotion around the hostage issue, the Israeli and international discourse is too often disconnected from the hard dilemmas actually on the table. Israel’s leaders, responsible for making these extremely-hard decisions, with direct consequences for the security of all Israelis, need to look at reality straight in the face. https://x.com/fredman_a/status/1874399702487023700 -

Still hope for some sort of deal to take place. This from 2nd Jan Israeli negotiators to head to Qatar amid some reported progress in hostage talks Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday that he had okayed sending an Israeli delegation for talks in Qatar on a hostage-ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip. The latest announcement came after reports in recent days indicated that the negotiations between Israel and Hamas had reached an impasse. The Prime Minister’s Office said that “Netanyahu authorized a working-level delegation from the Mossad, Shin Bet and IDF to continue negotiations in Doha.” https://www.timesofisrael.com/israeli-negotiators-to-head-to-qatar-amid-some-reported-progress-in-hostage-talks/ Hamas said willing to free only 22 of 34 living hostages demanded by Israel in deal Palestinian terror group Hamas has partially rejected a list of hostages that Israel insists must be released in the first phase of any ceasefire deal, according to a Monday report. Kan news, citing an unnamed Palestinian source, said Hamas is willing to release 22 of the 34 hostages on the list, but is refusing to agree to the release of the other 12. Instead, the report stated, the group offered to release 22 living hostages and 12 bodies during the first phase of a potential deal. Israel turned down the notion and made it clear that it would only accept living hostages during the initial stage of a deal, the report added. https://www.timesofisrael.com/hamas-said-willing-to-free-only-22-of-34-living-hostages-demanded-by-israel-in-deal/ https://x.com/ariel_oseran/status/1874840033590440014 -
Unfortunately as widely reported many girls faced rape and exploitation with the perpetrators never being charged as in the Rochdale cases and others. A victim of a Rochdale grooming gang has said she was raped more than 100 times from the age of 12 and felt "let down" by police. Ruby also told BBC Newsnight police took her aborted foetus away for DNA testing without telling her. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-manchester-68300484

Here's some facts from someone who knows. This Palestinian has lost 30 of his family members in Gaza, many via Israeli air strikes. Unless a mass awakening happens & Hamas is truly delegitimized, exposed, ostracized, shamed & deservedly made into a violent terror Islamist pariah, nothing good will happen to the Palestinian people in Gaza in 2025. Think, speak & act accordingly. Save Gazans from Hamas https://x.com/afalkhatib/status/1874305969754431797 -

I have family in London to. From the leftie Guardian, it appears it was not so much about what he did in London. “Sadiq is bucking the trend and there’s a reason for that. He was very early in calling for a ceasefire. He is now supporting a suspension of arms sales, as long as it’s clear that international law has been breached. So he did what we should have done and reaped the electoral rewards for that. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/article/2024/may/04/sadiq-khans-win-bucks-trend-of-muslim-voters-rejecting-labour-over-gaza-say-party-figures

The article contradicts itself completely, you are deliberatly ignoring that fact along with if any of it is credible then it just proves Hamas are recruiting children to fight for them. Now there's another can of worms to open up. "A source told the Post on Wednesday night that the total numbers remain unclear, but that the quality of new Hamas fighters receiving weapons is far inferior to the state it was in earlier in the war, given that many of them are untrained minors." Your disregard for a poll carried out by Palestinians directly in Gaza is noted. "In the Gaza Strip, support for Hamas stands at 35%" -

and again from the same link: "Another alternative is that despite the initial IDF estimates of 25,000, estimates from before the war stood at 30,000, even up to 40,000." The same article is giving other options and alternatives, no wonder you don't want to argue the point. From the latest poll: Latest poll figures and it shows the sharp decline in support for Hamas. Only 39% from 71% six months ago in Gaza. we asked respondents from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip what they thought of Hamas' decision to launch the October 7 attack, whether it was correct or incorrect: 54%, compared to 67% three months ago, in June 2024, and 71% six months ago, in March 2024, said it was the right decision. The decrease in this percentage came from the West Bank and Gaza Strip, where it stands today at 64% in the West Bank, a decrease of nine percentage points, and 39% in the Gaza Strip, compared to 57% three months ago, a decrease of 18 percentage points. Six months ago, 71% of Gazans said that Hamas’ decision was “correct.” As we found in the previous poll, the decrease in this percentage this time also came mostly from the Gaza Strip where it stands today at 39% compared to 57% three months ago and 71% six months ago. https://www.pcpsr.org/en/node/991 -

30,000 was always an estimate for how many fighters Hamas had. We now know that the number was too low. https://www.jpost.com/israel-hamas-war/article-794045 -

From the link so I am afraid that does not support your claim, especially when polls carried out in Gaza tell a vastly different picture "Another alternative is that despite the initial IDF estimates of 25,000, estimates from before the war stood at 30,000, even up to 40,000." -

Really? How's that then, if around half are dead, then a good portion of the other half is taken out with injuries, where is this recruitment coming from and how are they getting the arms?
